Thank you for avesome recordings. This is the second representative of petaurids I've heard, and again it's "song" is strikingly similar to some call types of fruit bats of the genus Rousettus. The two groups are so far from each other, that you may think the distant common ancestors of marsupials and placentals sounded like this.
The calls of African Scops Owl relate to those of Eurasian one in the same way, as the calls of southern and northern races of the Oriental Scops Owl. Southern birds have vibrating gurgling, while northern forms - clear musical whistle, although the song pattern in both pairs is identical.
Bro I heard this out my window tonight and I thought it was someone scraping wood or some crazy object trying to break through my window then I ran to my dad and he said it was a possum then I run back to my bedrooom and look out my window and I see him cutely waddling past our pool in our front yard. Lol
I grew up on a mountain in California, not far from Silicon Valley. We’d get all kinds of wildlife out there. At night we’d hear coyotes. Occasionally a mountain lion would roar, and it was a terrifying, guttural sound like an angry distorted jet engine. But the wild boar noises were even scarier because they were so ugly, demonic, insane. Very disturbing animals…
I hear a favourite of mine “Currawong” @ 1:32. Lyrebirds mimicking is that accurate it is just like a recording, I also hear a lot of Aussie minor and wattle bird and dove wings flapping wow this Lyrics bird is on fire 🤩
Ok can someone please tell me what is making the woot or hoot sound? I’ve been trying to track down the source of that noise for ages but haven’t found the right video
What I love about Australians compared to Brits and Americans is our experiences with wildlife. Magpie swooping, cockatoo screaming, kookaburra laughing, and these little buggers outside the window at 11PM...
