Some Doctor get the doctorate degree but never practicing and still call themselves a doctor because they get the knowledge. So being a pilot is the same. Doesn’t matter if you’re not flying but you have got the knowledge which is the biggest asset to you forever and no one can take control over

The fact that Mars is the "dullest planet" is also what makes it the most habitable one. I think it is one of the most interesting planets

Dominican Airforce were still using mustangs into the mid 80s. objectively the Mustang is the better plane. Sentimental favourite is the Spitfire. Although I think you’ll find the Hurricane was the actual plane that the did the work which won the Battle of Britain.

We are all -- first of all -- created to live in a positive relationship with our Creator. First in this life, and later in the afterlife. With Him. Here. And there. That is who we ARE. Our being, our existence. What we DO (verb), and what we have, are all completely subjective, transient, and individual. Before you "were a pilot" - i.e.before you *flew* (verb) airplanes, you did not fly airplanes. You ate, slept, grew went to school, studied, played games, etc. Then you took flying lessons, then you flew airplanes. Now -- at the moment -- you do not fly airplanes. What you do is not who you are -- contrary to common practice of people assessing one another based on what they do. I'm so glad to hear you've found that out, and are coming to peaceful terms with it. Every day is a Gift from God. What you do with it is your gift to Him (and us ... ) 🙂

It’s such a strange situation. So many countries around the world would do anything for such a well maintained and accessible airport, and point cook is hardly ever open.

For anyone wondering, Point Cook is probably the MOST important base in RAAF history. It was the first ever RAAF base and features both the RAAF Museum and 100 SQN (Historical Squadron) as seen in the video. It should be noted however that it rarely hosts actual serving RAAF aircraft outside of special events.

Fascinating! And yeah, you're too harsh on the poor Mars. It's a cool planet. Unlike giant gas planets, you can at least send a probe to its surface and it can survive there.

Great video Stefan. I’ve struggled with this concept as I received a heart transplant in Sept 2022 and hadn’t flown a plane since July 2022! However, I have now been medically cleared to fly again as I’m sure you will soon be too! Cheers mate! Caleb’s Aviation 😊

Amazing video as always @StefanDrury! I've recently had my PPL(A) issued to me by the UK CAA, and I fly out of Redhill/EGKR (under Gatwick's CTA). Great to see you flying in the same places that I have throughout my training - such as QEII, Brands Hatch, and Shoreham. And yes... you definitely don't want to bust LGW's airspace otherwise you'll get a phone number to call 😂. If they have time though, you can get a Gatwick transit (I was lucky enough to get one with my instructor on the way to Sandown (Isle of White)). Anyway, safe travels - and hope you are on the mend after your brain surgery! ✈

The idea of a "zero fuel" anything is a bit short sighted. Fuel was used to excavate the ores for the plane and the batteries, to transport said materials, to refine them, to construct the components, and then there is the matter of the electricity to charge the thing. Zero fuel in today's world is a myth.

Well done Steph. I went through something similar while my medical (USA) was withheld while I dealt with prostate cancer. Like you, I flew with other pilots and also flew my plane with an instructor just to keep it from sitting too long. I frequently pondered what I would do if I were to never get my medical back and have to stop flying. While I tried very hard to be positive and say that things could be far worse, my instructor and friend reminded me that what I was going through was not insignificant and that I was allowed to acknowledge that a big part of how I define myself, Pilot, was on hold. Nine months, surgery, and a clean bill of health brought my medical back, quickly followed by some instrument refresher flights and an IPC. So hang in there, know that you have permission to grieve a little, but most importantly, know that you are so much more than just a pilot.

it spit is 1000 pound lighter than a p51 .. so there you have it. The p51 has a bigger tank what made it more heavy thus more useless when loaded . High up the P51 was perfect on the long haul but below 12000 it was not any batter than a spit. So what is the better plane of the two.. after the war the American designer asked the British why the spit was lighter . Thereafter the P51 F was made and wonder well it could keep up with later models spits. More proof you cant have .. specifically that the Americans needed that particular information to mak it better.

Once a Pilot, always a Pilot. At least you have the positive attitude, and keep making these youtube videos! I as a retired military remain a military, it was like that all my life! Give lessons in a flight sim and you can pass on your knowledge! That way you keep your skills, until you can fly again! I have learned a lot from you, so thank you and never lose courage!

I would have thought you are a pilot. Not current on some ratings at present but I am confident that you will fix that in time. And can add a RU-vid philosopher because you ask the interesting questions and help to answer them. So a pilot and a RU-vid philosopher. Not a bad set of attributes.

You sir are a pilot! You can always claim that mantle, since the only one who can speak against that, is YOU. I've followed from the beginning, & was terrified that you might not survive this health crisis. Take your time, you have many friends who seem willing to get you back in the air, even though their landings seem to be a little better than yours :). Get better, and the rest will fall into place! I'm still enjoying your content, so you can also claim yourself a damn could videographer. Huge hugs.

As a brit I have to say...the spitfire is nice but the Mustang wins, the mustang were the first to engage the ME262s and also I must correct you on one thing....the spitfire may have been in the battle of Britain and is Iconic for that but...The Hurricane shot down more enemy aircraft during the BB so.....the Hurricane actually saved us not the spitfire....Sorry I love both aircraft though so id like to see them sit side by side each other as they are both capable aircraft that did their duty but the Hurricane sits higher
