I love how chaotic this video is :D That's what it would like if I made RU-vid videos :D And I love you trolling your students! I've been to Japan in October last year and it still was so humid and warm! Very different from where I live even though we live on a similar latitude. Thanks for the recommends, I will definitely try the grape ones next time :)
thank you patrick!! i’ve been researching on leaving the US and starting teaching and i’m looking for all perspectives on the job. so glad you made a decision that works for you! also if you have any advice on where to start the journey of becoming a english teacher plssss do share! thanks again pat we love ya
I wanted to do what you did straight outta college but it didn't work out. I ended up becoming an English teacher and am working towards my certification now. I would love to teach at an international school in Japan but I want my masters first. Would it be possible to go straight to an international school applying overseas? Do you have any tips on how to build my resume so I may be hired in the future?
I think it probably depends on the school but I think if you have the proper credentials a school would be looking for they would likely be interested in hiring even from overseas. I do think it would be easier if you are already in Japan, though!
Do international schools have classes like art, music, gym, ect? I have an art teaching license in the US for PreK-12th grade and would love to teach in Japan but idk if it’d be better for me to go the English teaching route
The realest most authentic man on social media (in my opinion), I love him ❤🎉🎉🎉💃🏾💃🏾💃🏾💃🏾 Wish I could like this video a thousand times. This is actually quite encouraging in terms of making a move in one's career with confidence ❤ Thank you for sharing 🙏🏾
I enjoy teaching. I’m on year number 8. I don’t specifically like English as I wanted to be a history teacher. I tend to teach history in English and not use the textbook given to me to use to teach English. The textbooks are garbage. My main gripes are with dispatch companies and not teaching itself.
Hey! Thanks for sharing! I watched your videos shortly before coming to Japan (to teach English haha) in 2021. I’ve loved being a teacher and have been wondering what I was gonna do after my time is over here. I have about 2 years left and the thought of teaching at an international school never occurred to me. That sounds so dope! Would love to hear about your experience getting your US teaching certification if you have the time. Thanks for always being inspiring 👊🏽
I started tutoring a 9 y.o girl as a part time job here in Japan, she could also only say yes, no basically…so I ended up using a lot of japanese but I feel like I opened the door for her to ignore using english. I don’t have a lot of teaching experience, do you or anyone have any general advice for me?
it's definitely a balance when the student is that early in their english journey. making sure they're hearing english as much as possible is important! use flashcards as visuals are KEY to help cement what you teach in terms of vocabulary
Im looking to get into english teaching in Japan next year with the goal of staying in Japan long term , I would very much like to learn about the process of applying for teaching licence , although I am a UK citizen so Im not sure if that might have some differences in regards to process since you mentioned a US teaching license
I'm an ALT right now in Japan and I really really enjoyed teaching. I'm actually surprised at how much I enjoy the job. So much so that I'm considering becoming a licensed teacher. My problem though is that I don't know what kind of teacher I want to be. If I want to specialize in Japanese or English or some other subject or become an elementary school teacher. How did you decide on the type of teacher that you wanted to become? Because I know the licensing path is different depending on the age and subject you are teaching.
Because I enjoyed working with younger students the most after having taught almost all ages from kindergarten to high school, I opted for a K-3rd grade license!
Bro I had teacher burnout in Korea after 4 years so I get it! Idk how you did 10 years?! LOL and 3 years in China?! Are you nuts?! LOL i studied education and I still got burn out lol Good luck to you in your new adventures at international School!
ive heard of people using the words "over night fleeing" when teaching english in korea... apparently its very stressful and kinda manipulative i guess from the higher ups
I've also heard similar accounts of foreigners using english teaching as an excuse to travel in Japan and soon they get burned out. But as someone who enjoys teaching and is an aspiring teacher, I always wanted to try and see how I could be one in Japan. Not as a temporary worker, but as a certified teacher. If you could share how you were able to get your certifications and describe how the process was, I would like it alot. Thanks a lot, Mister Patoriku.
hey pat you made me want to become a teacher that's what I'm working towards rn, I'm a junior in college and wanted to thank you for your service as a teacher.
I wonder as a closeted gay man myself - how is life in Japan for us gays? I know you are 100% straight and don’t do guys but any advice? I know there are some apps like 9mon, etc. but you straight people use tender I believe
I love your videos but am sadly having to turn away from instagram and tiktok because of the toxic and negative spaces on there 😣 I hope you start posting shorts on YT again someday. Gonna miss seeing your videos!!
This is a really nice layout. I've seen a lot of apartments but none like this. The spaces are well defined but it feels very open due to the circular nature. Very cool. There are so many that end up being hallways from genkan to balcony. I hope to have one like this.
