Hey! Thanks for sharing! I watched your videos shortly before coming to Japan (to teach English haha) in 2021. I’ve loved being a teacher and have been wondering what I was gonna do after my time is over here. I have about 2 years left and the thought of teaching at an international school never occurred to me. That sounds so dope! I enjoy teaching. I’m on year number 8. I don’t specifically like English as I wanted to be a history teacher. I tend to teach history in English and not use the textbook given to me to use to teach English. The textbooks are garbage. My main gripes are with dispatch companies and not teaching itself.

I'm an ALT right now in Japan and I really really enjoyed teaching. I'm actually surprised at how much I enjoy the job. So much so that I'm considering becoming a licensed teacher. My problem though is that I don't know what kind of teacher I want to be. If I want to specialize in Japanese or English or some other subject or become an elementary school teacher. How did you decide on the type of teacher that you wanted to become? Because I know the licensing path is different depending on the age and subject you are teaching.

Im looking to get into english teaching in Japan next year with the goal of staying in Japan long term , I would very much like to learn about the process of applying for teaching licence , although I am a UK citizen so Im not sure if that might have some differences in regards to process since you mentioned a US teaching license

Do international schools have classes like art, music, gym, ect? I have an art teaching license in the US for PreK-12th grade and would love to teach in Japan but idk if it’d be better for me to go the English teaching route

I wanted to do what you did straight outta college but it didn't work out. I ended up becoming an English teacher and am working towards my certification now. I would love to teach at an international school in Japan but I want my masters first. Would it be possible to go straight to an international school applying overseas? Do you have any tips on how to build my resume so I may be hired in the future?

I've also heard similar accounts of foreigners using english teaching as an excuse to travel in Japan and soon they get burned out. But as someone who enjoys teaching and is an aspiring teacher, I always wanted to try and see how I could be one in Japan. Not as a temporary worker, but as a certified teacher. I started tutoring a 9 y.o girl as a part time job here in Japan, she could also only say yes, no basically…so I ended up using a lot of japanese but I feel like I opened the door for her to ignore using english. I don’t have a lot of teaching experience, do you or anyone have any general advice for me?
