Oh my god, this site got me in trouble as a kid! I was obsessed with Foopets, so for my 10th birthday, I asked for a 1 month subscription, and my parents agreed. After they cancelled my subscription though, the site kept charging my dad's card. I got in so much trouble and I wasn't allowed to sign up for any pay-to-play online games after that. At least I wasn't the only one lol!
I miss this so much. I saw a screenshot on TikTok from the game, I immediately remembered in 2009 playing this game. I hadn’t remembered the name since 2010. I actually cried because my memories are going away and I have to see pictures to remember things now…
I got a new phone this weekend with lots of space (something I was lacking on my ancient Note 8) so I decided to check out and revisit some mobile games. Not a big mobile gamer either, I don't like time gating behind premium currency so anything that has that is an instant turn-off... and that's most mobile games. And yep, I remembered that's why I only played Pocket Camp for a single week back when it first came out. It was so annoying! But I still wanted to revisit it and see if anything had changed and I discovered there is a monthly membership for 3 bucks that gives you reduced crafting times based on the age of your account. And because my account is nearly 7 years old, that means every single thing I've been crafting is instant. So yeah... I'm actually enjoying myself now! Sure, it's 3 bucks every month as long as I keep the subscription active... but for right now at least, I feel it's worth it to me. Instant crafting was the thing I needed for this to be playable.
from what i'm aware of, the blood type thing is sort of related to japanese culture. in japan, your blood type predicts your personality and connection with others. in tomodachi collection (the prequel to tomodachi life that wasn't released outside of japan), they ask for the mii's blood type too, so i think harvest moon does the same?
When i heard Nintendo shut down 3ds wifi i assumed it was in every way possible, it seems like im able to update still though so im relieved im still able to play it again in its fullest form 😊
I really liked this game because I could keep the puppy on my screen while I stayed up late to complete homework. They would “sleep” and I could “see them sleeping and breathing” and it was comforting.
In Harvest Moon DS luckily neighbours don't annoy you anymore for using golden lumber for fencing. But somehow murder is posible in the game, at least twice. In other videogames the games also ask your blood type, like villagers from Animal Crossing. Beware, the reason why the superstion of blood types being related to personality is common in Japan i because it was made up by a japanese eugenicist from the 60s.
I still play nintendogs with my DSi, I won't separate with it, Never. I lost the previous one ten years ago and one year ago I've bought it from a friend with the same color as the previous I had, which he doesn't play with it anymore. It's on perfect conditions by the way. I can't wait to buy other games for it
i absolutely loved foopets when it became members only it was so sad... i also remember my mum being charged even after we had cancelled the subscription
This is really a great video, it's so bad that the algorithm isn't showing it to more people... I mean, it did show it to me but I still feel it doesn't have enough views. But anyways, I really feel the same about Nintendogs + Cats, it's a hit or miss situation. The original will always have a place in my heart even if I can't remember any of my dogs' name lol except they were all labradors (and I still like them today, I think thanks to this game). The 3DS one was really flashy and cool looking but maybe I've grown out of the mimic? I don't know, maybe I should try it again myself too
"Free-to-start" has been Nintendo's preferred language for these types of games since the late "Iwata era" (RIP), he himself had spoken about why they use this terminology. "Free-to-play" is misleading as those games could be easily confused for actual freeware, whereas "free-to-start" is unambiguous in stating that you can start playing at no cost, while there is also paid content. I personally only use "F2P" as a label for ppl who voluntarily abstain from spending money on freely downloadable (i.e. free-to-start) games

I love pocketcamp, been on since day one bc I couldn't afford NH and now I'm hooked! I recommend playing for a week before buying the plans, but they are worth it! Great video!
I dont understand why people think Tom Nook is evil. The guy literally gives us a house that we can pay whenever we want. Yeah in the first game we gotta do some work for him, but thats just to learn the basics of the game. He gives us debt but is not like he threats us to pay him or anything, again, we can pay at any time we want.

I was also pretty neutral about Tom Nook, of course I hated paying debt to him in ACNL because I didn't know how to get a lot of money fast so it took me ages to save up bells and then I couldn't buy anything in the next few days lol. But I also did like the memes of him being the capitalist overlord... Still, pretty neutral feelings. I've been playing a lot of ACNH lately, after a one year long break. Theres so many little things I dislike about it, that makes me not enjoy it as much as NL! But, Tom Nook is not one of them, at least Nintendo kept him in the same role he had in previous games haha. I think he's neutral, not overtly helping but also not a capitalist overlord. He does force our hand into a loan and, depending on the game, job too, but he's not forcing much else. It's an escape from reality game targeted at everyone, including kids, after all! Also love how Peta just avoided the question by telling horrific, graphic facts to children. Wait, I didt know they were inflatable! Wtf?
Very fair opinion!! By nature of his position, I guess it's hard to be a completely generous 'good guy' - he does still make his money after all! Peta are an... interesting bunch. To the "size of eight tatami mats" I read - the uh... more you know 😅
I feel like the real sets using the cute and small aspect which just doesn’t work well here. Sometimes even if it’s childish and add at kids doesn’t mean they need to make small. Even like island fan made set it’s small but captures the animal crossing aesthetic and works better here. I swear sometimes we need fans to help companies with their designs and projects
I love the old and new versions of the game! When I was a kid I liked the game fine but I like it a lot more now as an adult . I do dislike some of the censoring and sanitizing they did, I didn’t like when my animals died but it made sense. it’s weird that they’re just these immortal beings now that don’t need to eat or be checked on… Though what they SHOULD have censored or changed was allowing the bull to get any adult female cow pregnant… even his own offspring. That thoroughly disgusted me when I had that happen in game.
I personally fell in LOVE🥰 with the original’s dog walking music. It was just the PERFECT combination of serene and catchy. I also vividly remember my pug named Fawful (named after the evil dwarf scientist from Mario and Luigi Superstar Saga) and a Dalmatian named Marven (and yes that’s how I spelled, not Marvin). And gave him a rainbow wig and Fawful had own little Luigi cap. Anyway, great👍 video, I just never played it the 3DS sequel.
