I swear by the Keen Newport H2s. Virtually indestructible and very comfy. I have them on all the time and had no issues close to 3 years into it. You sure you don't have a fake?
I was about to pull the trigger on the Hoka and came across your comparison. I'm a long time Keen wearer as well. I think the problem you've run in to may be specific to the Keen H2's and not the regular Keen Newports. I've gone through maybe 6 pair over the last 10 years, I usually wear the regular Newports for at least 18 months before the soles start to wear, but I've never had a problem at the same location on the shoe you seem to have. The regular Newports have a solid one-piece suede heel, nothing is sewn at that point so it's much less likely to tear or break. That being said, is the Hoka closer to a water shoe like the Keen H2's, with a rubberized insole? The regular Newports have a suede-like insole, so I can wear them spring/summer/fall without socks and they feel great, never get slippery or squeak like a rubberized insole on the H2's.
I hate new keeps had one for about 8 years and they use to have velcro at the back no needing to stretch. Now these stretch ones don't foot my foot. Tried 3 sizes up until one fits but then it's too long. Just a dumb design.
I've had one pair of the original Keen Newport version wear out at the heel as shown, but I have 3 pairs of the Newport H2 sandals and they haven't worn out at all. I live in Texas and the colors will fade after everyday use in just over a year but won't look shabby for closer to 3 years. ABout 4-5 years ago, there was a wave of knock off Keens that hit the market and my wife bought a pair unknowingly, off of Ebay. They looked very real and quite nice at first until they gave her rub marks or maybe even a rash like abrasions on her feet so we cold washed them 3X and that worked until the size badge, name badge and inner sole started delaminating. Soon after the stitches started unraveling and the soles came apart. She fought with Ebay and won her return and refund, so she replaced them with authentic Keen sandals and they've been perfect for almost 2 years and she wears them daily around the ranch. So if you're having the same issues I listed, they very well could be fakes because they're still selling them everywhere.
It's weird to me. I'm not a fan of Hoka it's overrated. Folks that own them told me how long the comfort lasts, and it's no better than any other new shoe over $120 dollars.
Strange, my KEEN's never wears out where you specified! It's usually around the soles that over time mine will start to break off. Anyway, I was wondering if you had any feedback on the HOKA's ability to wear in water (river, sea)??? Thanks for your reviews.
Watching the video because I've had two pairs of the Keen Newport sandal and have had terrible luck. The sole of each sandal have come unglued and I have also had issues with the sandal tearing at the same point as you all under a year. A positive to Keen though they gave me a full warranty both times and I just stopped ordering the Newport. I like the NXIS shoe I bought instead. Looking forward to trying the Hoka Hopara out.
Thanks for this review. I'm exactly at this place between these two for use in the Boundary Waters Canoe Area. Because we have so many portages in and out of water, I am leaning toward the waterability of the Hokas. The durability factors are important to me. They become a cost-effective element over time. No doubt Keen is an excellent company. We see Keen Sandals everywhere. But I think I'm going to spring for the Hoka Hoparas. Thanks again!
Keen wearer for a decade and I’ve never worn mine out where you did. That’s crazy! Thank you for the video. Was trying to see if Hokas we good. Great video.
Ground the wire to the motor , back side where the flat plate is . There should be 4 screws to remove the flat plate, just take one out and attach it to the flat plate
i had the same problem. 3 motors later and a new controller and my auger motor still didn't work, just like this vid and the guys below. before i scraped the thing, i loosened the 2 screws on the fan side of the auger motor and i am now half way through a cook. it would usually quit way before this point. thanks to you guys below who recommended just loosening the screws. thank you now lets get traeger on board with this info...
I had an old pair of keens. Lasted for years. Recently I got a new pair and my feet both have a rash after wearing them. Just at the top of the foot. Will look into Hoka. Thanks.
I was looking at the time stamp on each comment and couldn’t help but laugh . So many comments saying they are doing this soon , and thank you they are ready to attack their kitchen. Fast forward to today 2022-2023 and I can’t tell you how many of these homeowner specials that look absolutely terrible , as this one did as well and was probably repainted by the new homeowners as you’ve stated to sold your house , that I have repainted already with this same exact glazing style done ……. Def not how you glaze
The original auger motor that my Traeger came with via shipping was defected, and my second auger motor i received from Traeger was also DEFECTED. It was not until my 3rd auger motor i received that it happened to work perfectly. So do not think it is uncommon to receive not one but two defected auger motors!
Mine did the same thing. Loosen the two screws on the auger motor that are located by the fan blade on the auger motor. They come tightened way too much from Traeger. The fan should spin now with those two screws loosened. The auger should also turn and push pellets from the hopper.
Hi... Thanks for the video. The kitchen looks good. I have three questions... 1) how has this held up? 2) would you do it again? 3) were the sides of you cabinets real wood or a laminate printed paper? I hope you see this... since it's been a while since you posted this
1 - We sold that house about 5 years ago, so not sure. 2 - Definitely not, I suppose that is the risk of going strong in a single design/color direction, you could wake up one day and not like that anymore. The kitchen in our new house is white, and we really like that. 3 - It was real wood. I had to sand them down.
Hyrum, thanks so much for this great video! I'm getting ready to do my cabinets in green and have been searching the internet for kitchens done in a darker color with a glaze over them. This was perfect! I would never have thought to go with black over green but it will give me a similar result as your blue. Exactly what I've been looking for!
Well don't follow anything they're doing. Look at all those brush marks.... cabinets are not supposed to have brush marks but a nice clean smooth factory finish.
