Mine did the same thing. Loosen the two screws on the auger motor that are located by the fan blade on the auger motor. They come tightened way too much from Traeger. The fan should spin now with those two screws loosened. The auger should also turn and push pellets from the hopper.
i had the same problem. 3 motors later and a new controller and my auger motor still didn't work, just like this vid and the guys below. before i scraped the thing, i loosened the 2 screws on the fan side of the auger motor and i am now half way through a cook. it would usually quit way before this point. thanks to you guys below who recommended just loosening the screws. thank you now lets get traeger on board with this info...
ok I'm in the same boat. 3 new auger motors and 1 new controller. I've tested them on friends units to make sure I'm not crazy. If you flick the fan enough times it will start spinning. However, as soon as the cycle stops the fan stops and it will not restart on the next cycle unless you flick the fan. I'm going to test the voltage and see if that has something to do with it. Stay tuned. I started this process back in March and always find myself getting too busy to continue chasing it.
Solution here: if you loosen the two screws that hold the fan on to basically hand tight, they over torque them at the factory and it causes the fan to be too tight to start up. Loosen them completely, test it to make sure it runs and slowly tighten it while testing in between...bing bang boom, fixed
Ground the wire to the motor , back side where the flat plate is . There should be 4 screws to remove the flat plate, just take one out and attach it to the flat plate
The original auger motor that my Traeger came with via shipping was defected, and my second auger motor i received from Traeger was also DEFECTED. It was not until my 3rd auger motor i received that it happened to work perfectly. So do not think it is uncommon to receive not one but two defected auger motors!
the motor and auger kit replacements didn't fix the issue, it wasn't until they sent me an entirely new box, auger, motor unit (basically everything except for the smoker) that it fixed the issue.
@@2935rc I have this same problem. I pulled off the back cover to the fan motor and checked the gears to see if they turned and they spun freely. I then checked the two screws, one above and one below the motor fan. Once I loosened them slightly, the motor started working. I assume that the new auger motor I got from Traeger may have been a referbed motor that was either tightened too much or some spacers were not used. It caused the housing to be too tight and wouldn’t allow the fan to spin freely. Loosen the two screws slightly and see if it helps in your case.
@@dancrews2640 I was having the same issue with the fan not spinning. I tried your suggestion and it didn’t work at first. But then I gave the motor a few taps and it started spinning. Loosening the screws was key. I tightened them back down and spinning stopped. Loosened and back in business.
@@stevenlamaster7347 I wired mine direct to my main blower wire can only grill on high now.....need to get new switch board ,cheap on amazon like 20-25$God bless you
I was able to add few sprays of gun oil to the motor spindle and shafts and boom back in Business I didn’t oil the auger area where pellets go (that would be stupid ) but no problem with the he fan starting and stopping anymore
