I make review videos about Quality boots, Leather patina, How to take care of your boots, boot collection, and New boots because I believe High quality footwear will be the best for you in the long run.
If you will walk on snow and muddy deep puddle , I recommend waxing that midsole & heel stack . This will prevent fast bleaching of that dye color and prevent squeak. Seal the tacked area also with beeswax or seam sealer. This will prevent water from get into the nails and rusting them , also preventing squeak. Seal the nail holes with super glue , to prevent squeak.
@qltyboots you said they're tighter at the ball than the 55..? I like the slightly tighter heel in the 4811 but feel like the ball is too wide and toe is tall.. (but not sprung like a c461 White's last)
My wife bought me a pair of 8146 Roughnecks for Christmas two years ago and I’ve worn them maybe 6 times since I got my White’s. Fast forward and after a trip to Frank’s boots with my wife where I got fit and a pair of MTO customs!!! The first thing my wife said when we got home was “sell the Redwings, they look so cheaply made after seeing Franks’s” 😂
@@scottc77 That is actually the feeling you get when you compare the difference between the two. They are built totally differently, and with much more leather. But still Red Wing has its place and many people like them. Most of us PNW guys started out with Red Wing. Franks boots are awesome, you can probably customize all you can imagine and they have great customer service
@@qltyboots the chukka boot from Hebtroco. It’s in that awesome CF Stead Wheatbuck. Went down a rabbit hole last week on their brass screw construction, watching a ton of old videos and rewatching your Dundas videos.
Ha, I didn't know you had another channel. Yes, people can be pretty dumb, etc., when they are anonymous and there's no penalty for anything they say. Good luck with the Dome. Looking forward to watching these nice boots as they change.
Thank you for showing off the new boots. Just a forewarning, Predator leather has no oils. It’s just waxes. If you over brush you’ll burn the waxes and darken the boot. Your best bet is to just knock the dust off or brush slow. There is no real way to restore it. It is sanded and it has a bit of a nap more like Red Wing’s Rough and Tough minus the oils and emulsified waxes. I’ve used Saphir Medaille D’or 1925 Oiled Leather Cream and only one coat tends to not darken fast. Coat #2 will, I probably would avoid, less is more. I would let it work itself out of the leather. Good luck on Dome and I hope that it goes well for you!
@@Vultain Thanks. I will try to not do anything at all to the boots. I will just brush them gently occasionally, I know they will change and that’s ok. I don’t want to use any oils or stuff like that, that would totally ruin the joy of seeing them change naturally.
I've gone full circle with red wing. Good, bad, good. All my boots are work boots. SBfoot leather is very good. However my muleskinner IR's have inconsistent leather thickness. So RW's clicking could be better.
@@edbehan1306 One pair I looked at a few months ago was just ridiculous, because the thickness of the leather was so different. But this pair and a few others I have seen the last year have been close to perfect
I have to admit, I have a hard time paying full price for Truman after seeing how their boots are made versus Nick's. It's not inferior, but it is faster and less expensive. And I dislike the numerous staples used to keep the gemming in place. Truman QC is excellent, however.
@@InGrindWeCrust2010 I think I heard in a podcast that Nicks also are thinking about a lasting machine, if so I think the price should go down if more and more of the production is made by machines
Hey Bro ...Congrats for having those boots. Surprisingly i also have those 2 boots same style like yours. We have the same interest hahaa 😂👍🏽👍🏽. Anyway, just added to my collection i have the Blacksmith Briar Oil Slick, IR Amber Harness 8088 & the Moc-Toe 875. Having these Red Wings are totally addictive & no more (i wish 😅) boots for this year for me. Cheers Bro, u got urself a subcriber for ur channel 🤜🏽💥🤛🏽
@@KT.81 Thanks man I really appreciate it. You have a great collection of Red Wing boots. I used to own many more, but I needed a half size bigger so I got rid of them. Now I only have the 8083 and Blacksmith in Black Prairie.
Hello, sir! Love your videos. I sent you a question on Instagram regarding the Cutter vs. Wilshire. I would greatly appreciate it if you have the opportunity to answer. Thanks and take care!
@@davidelizabeth4933 Hi. Thank you so very much for watching. I will head over to Instagram right now and see if there’s anything I can help you with. Thank you again for your support
Thanks for the video!! Those Truman boots are beautifully finished!! I did not know Trueman yet, as I have been eyeing Nick‘s for some time now. Biut I will have to look into them, as they look great. I‘ll probably start with a pair of Americanas.
@@pampuh Hi. I’m planning on doing the Stitchdown Patina Thunderdome, that is a boot aging contest, mostly for fun during the winter. I’m going to mainly use two pairs of Nicks boots that time
@@qltyboots I do. I have the 3343 (great patina) and the 8084 (I know it won't patina to everyone's liking but I really do dig them). I also have the 10875.
Indeed. You have great content. I actually almost got the black prairie blacksmiths because of your earlier video about them (the ones you sold). If I hadn't have already purchased some black double shot Perry selects I probably would have gotten those. I needed a brown boot and I love the CRT. Thanks for the videos bud
Wow, every question I had as I watched your video you answered, as if you were reading my mind, Kenneth. Looking forward to watching these patina and your Thunderdome entries patina, too.
Nice pickup, excited to see how yours change over time! My first pair of IRs was the 8085 in copper rough and tough. I loved them so much I got a pair of the 8083s like yours here and ended up liking them even more. The 8083s quickly became my immediate goto when I was leaving the house. It's been 4 years and I still tend to reach for them first even though I have other boots I love as well. They're well past overdue for a resole, but I like wearing them so much that I've put off getting it done. I knew that I wanted a specific look, so once they were broken in I conditioned them using RW mink oil. The initial (intended) effect was to darken the roughout _considerably_ and create a finish somewhat like a waxed flesh. Since then, scrapes and scuffs have brought out the nap over time and lightened the color (although it's still darker than originally). Obviously not everyone wants to darken the hawthorn muleskinner leather, but for me they're perfect, with lighter nap fibers showing up beautifully over the darker roughout beneath. Better with every scuff! I hope you're able to enjoy yours for a long time to come.
@@AnarchoTommy your boots probably looks pretty good, they will darken over time also without conditioning them also, but yours probably looks pretty cool. 4 years, that’s great. Send them in for a resole, have you considered getting a totally different sole on them now? I will post a video or two before I put them away for a little while. Thank you so much for watching
I bought the same a couple of years back, they have indeed changed....I own 8 pairs of RW and the 8083 is in my top 3 but can RW PLEASE PLEASE put in a mid sole!!! hahahaha//all the best, troutbumandsam
@@EDHBlvd Yes. And since they made 1200 pairs they probably don’t want to mess up. The Hawthorn also looks really good. Hard choice to make. I like them both
@@EDHBlvd At the time I received them I had several other boots coming in, and sometimes you just have to let go of one or two pairs. Lol. But I still have my eye open for Truman’s, I think they have many interesting leathers
@@qltyboots yes but they sell green doc sole custome bottoms soles Really coool cobbler can put them on with nice rebuild So I would keep mule skinner what they did with bottom to warrant gonna make go up in vavle A rare leather will
As a fellow european, how are those huge heels in comparison to more „normal“ heels ? Do they compress a little during break in ? Those patriots look like a mighty good deal for a PNW boot, but I am a bit worried that they feel too weird. I only have Red Wings (Mocs and IR) and Jim Greens so far.
@@christophbecker1639 This is built on the 55 last, that have a great arch support. At first they can hurt. But once they are broken in they are really comfortable. Then you feel that you are standing comfortably and correctly.
@@qltyboots I forgot to mention Red Wing was my first purchase of nice boots, too, leading to Nicks. Mine are Red Wing elk trackers. I wear them everyday during the cold Colorado winter. I have some Red Wing Pecos boots, too, but I wouldn't call them top of the line boots. They are good, however.
@@rickc4317 Well Red Wing have caused many people to be boot addicted. lol. Not top of the line, but they are holding up for the wear I have on my boots
I can’t handle black boots (selling my 1 pair). That said, that pair is unique. Love the sole. However the Hawthorne Muleskinner is always nice. I have my old 8113 pair.
@@EDHBlvd I don’t have a thing for black boots either, these are just nice because of the soles. They really stands out. I have seen your 8113, Muleskinner looks great after some time and wear.
Keep the 4331 Riders Room limited edition, they will probably never be available again, you can always buy the 8083. I bought the 4331 Riders Room limited edition in the spring when they came out and I have no regrets. The sole is very comfortable and the leather is really great.
