New subscriber here and loving this build . I know it is 6 years ago but I am starting a welding/fabrication and machining shop to make the parts for the small engines that I come across and are obsolete.

So what exactly is the deal here? Is that re-assembly video ever coming??? They are not exactly complicated devices I just wanted to be sure I am doing it right. Those 2 plastic pieces that go on the inner sides of the carriages I just cant figure out how they are held in place. Other than that I think I am okay.

triangles are the strongest form , the mast would probably be stronger if you weld in a plate diagonally on the inside from one corner to the other , cut in a few notches on the corners and weld them shut with the plate inside are you going to mount the drive motor directly to the grindstone or are youre going with a belt drive ?

I used one of those pick up magnets on a pole. They just pop back in. Use a small screw driver to push them. No need to open it up. I got lucky. Found them all.

I may be a little off topic but some of the Chinese talk about a square carriage. What do they mean? I don't see the difference

I think you would have got a few comments if you had set this up on a rotary table like most of us would or even a swivel based vice....then you can angle the 2 cuts to get the pocket.......I might give this a try.

Did you ever find a replacement bearing orderable online? If so could you link info for it?? Hoping to find one for my (non genuine) variant of this that is one bearing short on one block - so annoying!

Hello. Are this project is abandoned? Or you drop it off in favorite a CNC projects? Really in fact, great launch, you already do some first steps, i only think to do, with welded frame and linear rails as base of surface grinder. Any suggestions?

Did you even replay this before posting it. Good to watch but very painful to listen to as you just seem to be rambling in a rather incoherent manner. I will still watch part 2 though as I want to see it finished because as you said they are difficult to fabricate at home. Please play it back to yourself. Good work. Cheers Stuart 🇦🇺

The manual says you need to push a hot rod through 'the bottom of the tapped hole' to be able to grease the block. Is that white plastic diaphragm what they are talking about pushing the rod through?

The 5 flute tool vibrated badly because your material hangout was quite large. Try to get your clamping surface as close as possible to the cutting surface. If you have incredible hangout, like you did, using thick "blocks" of material to increase the strength of your vice works well. I had a part similar to yours I clamped inside of 1.5" thick steel jaw plates on either side of the workpiece.www.screencast.com/t/oS0PIrETAWN. The rigidity of your workpiece up from the jaw is CRITICAL.

I would suggest using a grinder on those welds to smooth them out. You can get a type of grinding pad that''s designed for smoothing instead of cutting. Something like this. www.lowes.com/pd/Shopsmith-Ceramic-4-5-in-40-Grit-Flap-Disc/4747437. I'm enjoying these videos and I'm taking notes because I've been planning a similar project for months.
