I built an aircraft in my garage and now fly it EVERYWHERE! Documenting our adventures along the way.
2024 sees G-RVBP compete in the British Air Racing Championship. It's doing quite well in its first season and won the 2024 Schneider Trophy!
Early days yet, I'm still experimenting with cameras, angles, batteries, cockpit audio, telemetry and time syncing so be kind on the editing for now - my landings and general flying are fair game though...
I’ve been a RAF fast jet pilot for 20 years. I completed fighter pilot training and flew the Tornado GR4, F/A-18 Hornet (on exchange) and Typhoon. I was also an instructor on the Hawk T2 and Typhoon and flew the 2015 Hawk T2 pairs display.
@@andrewevans3859 I am sorry you felt that way. Wellesbourne Airfield hosted the prestigious Kings Cup Air Race event this year. Much care is taken to avoid built up areas when the course is laid out. My data recorder shows me going past Kineton at 1100 feet and offset to the West which is really quite high as legally it could have been half that height. I do apologise for the noise for those 2 sessions of 40 minutes but I’m afraid I do challenge your assessment that it was dangerous. Sorry for the inconvenience.
Ah thank-you so much! This just started a couple of months ago when I started adding cameras to the RV and really was just for friends and family to see what we’re up to and becomes a sort of album of our flying rather than hours of useless footage! I’ve started sharing with the wider GA community as I think others would enjoy it too. The editing is just a hobby, I’m no pro! If there is a fly in at Colerne and my aircraft is out of the paint shop, I’ll be there!
Blimey! you deserve a hell of lot more subscribers for the quality of this editing and content! Speaking of fly-ins, there are a group of people trying to organise one at 'Colerne airfield' in Wiltshire, apparently its a reserve airfield managed by RAF Cranwell. Their still working on getting permission from Cranwell but it would be great to see you there if it goes ahead!
Way too much spunk…… Racing is about smoothness, calmness and zen. Practice, black tie dinner - get hideously drunk. Kippers for breakfast - race !!!! 2 Schneiders , 1 City Livery Cup in the 80’s. Our Nemesis was Mr Crisp in his Cessna 337…. Great fun.
Thank-you so much! It's my first aircraft build and early days for video editing so some improvements to come. I don't want the cameras to be distraction whilst flying so I just turn them on for the duration and edit whatever I get afterwards. It is possible to get some limited telemetry from the gopros but I use the data from the Garmin G3X. There are a few software programs out there but I use a program called 'Telemetry Overlay'. Quite fiddly and infinitely adjustable but I have made a couple of templates that I stick to now. I see you have GDU 460s in your Skyleaders so you just pull the CSV file off that after flight. Hope that helps!
Ben, congratulations on a great channel. We'll have to be mindful of cameo roles in the future! Great to see this day out as we discussed the immediate aftermath that evening. One day out definitely to remember.
