Hello and welcome to my Lego Channel. I am a huge AFOL (Adult Fan of Lego) and have been collecting and building sets for nearly a decade after rediscovering Lego in my late 20's. I collect and build just about anything that looks interesting but mainly collect Harry Potter, Ideas/Icons, Creator Expert and Star Wars, but generally only the Original Trilogy themed sets
As someone who is severally Dyslexic, I find the process of following Lego instructions very helpful as it really helps focus my brain for long periods of time but even as an adult, most sets take me quite a long time as I have to concentrate, otherwise I make frustrating mistakes.
My content will mainly focus on Lego news, previews and reviews. When it comes to reviews, these will be my honest thoughts and opinions as the Lego sets will be brought more often than not with my own hard earned money.
That’s pretty much my feelings towards the set, I don’t dislike it just doesn’t look like 1400 pieces of Lego, must be a lot of small elements used cause I can’t see them, bit of a disappointment for me this one
you did a great job with the wires, adding some flicker effect boards to those torches to simulate fire would push it even more next level. Man, that set is HUGE! I have to build and install light kit for Home Alone - I better start now!
I could get the wires more tidy but I’m happy with how they are, there round the back which no one sees. Light kits are fantastic, especially on large sets, one day I will have all my sets lit up but will need a load of power banks😂I bet Home Alone house will look really good with a light kit
its showing the same box with warning labels on the uk site too. It's probably just a 1 box for everywhere now so they don't need to print different ones
Oh yeah so it is, pretty sure the UK boxes will not have the huge warning label because when you download the media kit from Lego themselves, they have the box picture with and without the warning label🙂
I’m the same. Not blown away by it but it’s not bad. I will probably get it as I have a few of these now but it’s definitely a discount one for me. Not moved to get it at full price at all
Yeah just feels a little underwhelming, it’s not bad by any means just doesn’t make me want to rush and buy it. Maybe it’s because the past few years have had amazing sets, it’s hard not to compare it to those.
I like it, some people think there is a post office from 2011, which is true, I have it, bu tthis is pretty distinct, the side builds are nice, and paired with the post delivery truck set it will be a great addition. I'm a real sucker for the winter village, I have every set (except the original Holiday Train, which wasn't technically winter village until it was re-issued, which I do have), and every set with LED illumination, I don't have enough space!
I will get it at some point as like you, I try and get them all but this one feels little disappointing, especially after the past couple of years which have been quite amazing. I bet your display looks amazing when all lit up🙂
@@TheDyslexicGeak It does look good, but I need more space! Its already split into 2 displays, 1) fireplace mantle and 2) buffet table. My wife doesn't want me to use the dining room table...I agree, the lodge is nice, the shops and street car was nice too, the LED kit for that one illuminates the the upper portion of the car, giving it a cosy glow through the clear brick. BTW the lit up Barad Dur is great! I've used a lot of Lightailing, Briksmax, Game of Bricks, and a few other brands, and buy components and install on my own - the LED started to become as much a hobby as Lego! Cheers!
@@bricksbeersbeards9368 haha I constantly face the same issues and I have only recently bought new shelves and they are just about full. I keep moving things around trying to maximise space, I need more shelving but there not cheap
The post office looks good but not impressive. It looks rather “empty”. The balloon is the coolest thing of the whole set. Set 40746 Santa’s Delivery Truck should be included or maybe a GWP when you buy the Post Office set. It’s certainly not a day-1-buy for me. Maybe the set has enough pieces to create a Santa’s House with it and then adding some accessories from the 2023 and 2024 City Advent Calendars. That would be much cooler than the post office; just an idea 😊 The Alpine Lodge last year was so much better that I even bought 2 of them to create one big closed lodge.
Yeah it’s very sparsely detailed inside, the ballon is nice but the set doesn’t quite have the wow factor for me. The Alpine Lodge last year was a great set🙂
Thanks for the video. Got the set. On my build list. How did you put the stickers on the windows? I have not done clear stickers before. Any tips for applying stickers?
I use the brick separator which is really handy to try and get stickers straight, I’m not perfect applying stickers but more often than not I get them correct using the separator🙂
I to am looking at buying the sail barge on day 1. I’ve booked the day off work and might go to the store (which will be the first time I’ve done this). I’m still deliberating but have the options open for me. I’ve heard the dropship battle pack might not be available for too long so might be worth picking up sooner rather than later.
I think I’m going to order online, not sure I can get to my Lego store for opening time and zero chance any promo will be left by the weekend. I have seen the rumours about the drop ship having a short run but have also seen people saying that’s not the case. I would be shocked if it’s not around for a good year at the minimum
I really like the Belle minifigure in the Disney set. Actually only interested in that part of the set so I think I’ll buy this set but when it’s on a sale. I’ll probably never build it and will be using the bricks as extra parts. The Fortnite battle bus looks cool but also only for the minifigs. I’ll probably build the bus as a normal one without the fancy Fortnite stuff on it. Oh and the pumpkin GWP looks so cool so I’m going to see what I’ll have to buy to get this.
Yeah the minifigures are definitely the highlight of the Disney set for me but like you, I can wait for a sale.Probably can say the same for the Fortnite bus. That pumpkin promo looks ace🙂
I have pre ordered the Batmobile to take advantage of the double points promo and got the special edition Batman brickheadz with the insider points. Will also be getting the sail barge only because of the GWP
Oh nice, I really want the Shadow Box with 3x insider points but it’s come at the wrong time lol. I’m the same about the sail barge, that promo looks really nice🙂
@@Badgers_9 yeah Lego getting a lot of flack over the price and rightly so, I’m getting day one because I really want the promo but Lego Star Wars prices are getting crazy
@@TheDyslexicGeak yeah I am done with Star Wars….unless they release an Ewok Village next year …👀 just waiting for sales now on Lion Knights Castle, Town square, Natural History Museum and the A-Frame cabin. Outside of that I am liking the BDP more.
@@Badgers_9 I rarely buy any Star Wars set on release as most sets get reduced fairly quickly elsewhere but definitely better value for money in other themes
Mario is a definite for me. Not day 1 but at some point. I like the small Star Wars set but same as you, I will wait for that one. The barge I’m still undecided on. If it were just a bit cheaper I would be on it but at the same price as rivendell etc I’m struggling a bit. We’ll see, I may buckle for the gwp 😂
Yeah now my initial hype for barge is passing I’m seriously considering waiting but I really want the promo and just know what they will go for on eBay etc. if for some reason the promo sells out, I will wait for inevitable sale
@@TheDyslexicGeak I’m really going back and forth on it. I like the set but the price is just that bit too high. I’m not sure I would want to sell the GWP if I had it so it’s a hit to the wallet. Decisions!
@@Ultra_bricks yeah same, I absolutely don’t want to sell the promo, looks so good. I just hope it doesn’t sell out, if it does that will decide it for me
@@TheDyslexicGeak it looks like it can be built from available parts (except the name plate) so I may try and stay disciplined but that FOMO is real for the exclusive stuff. The one thing I am wondering is how much it is eventually discounted. I don’t see the barge selling much at that price after the launch so the discounts could be significant
@@Ultra_bricks it all depends which stores get it, if it’s Argos or John Lewis it get a nice discount. My gut feeling is this time round John Lewis will get it🤞
nice content, very useful, thanks for the post! Will be getting the Holiday set, desperately want the gwp jack o' lantern, hope its available in the USA, sometimes the gwps are different for UK and Europe...Sail Barge is way too rich for my blood, not a 'UCS guy', don't have the space to display it...
I expect the promo will be available in most markets, it does look really cool, hope the minimum spend isn’t too high. Yeah the Sail Barge is getting a lot of flack over the price and rightly so, if it wasn’t for the promo I would certainly wait
Idk what we are buying for October, all I know is my gf wants that Pumpkin GWP lol. I agree Robin should have come with the Batmobile. I usually dont care about minifigs but that was a mistake by Lego. I like the original entry of the Disney ideas set more. Its cool its coming with unique minifigs, but dont think Lego executed it well. Mickey looks weird and this was a good opportuinity for Lego to include sole movies that dont get the spotlight often or ever, like Pinnochio and Lilo and Stitch. Im also excited for those who can finally get the Sail Barge. Its not for me, even as a huge star wars fan I never cared for it like that. However, I like the lightsaber! Its a shame Lego wont make a set line for them
Yeah that promo looks really good, hopefully will be available early October. The Ideas set is a shame because it could have been really good but feels very underwhelming and almost like putting the set out for the sake of it. I’m very excited for the Sail Barge but if I can’t get the promo I will wait
The Sail Barge is good the MiniFigures all have major flaws outside of Jabba the Gamorian Guard and R2-D2 Stickers on a $500 set Lego needs to stop that. Disappointed
Oh really, stickers on R2-D2? I really hope not. If that's the case then its rather poor. I agree sets costing this much should not have stickers, or if they do, the really need to have more printed pieces
@@LeePrice-r9u yeah stickers in the really expensive sets are disappointing to see, but I guess from Lego’s perspective, they are still selling so don’t have incentive to change sadly
Yeah if it wasn’t for the Star Wars tax it probably would have been, but I was anticipating it being around £500 so for £430 with a really nice promo, I will bite. Will be interesting to see which retailers get it, maybe this time round it will be John Lewis
Looks great and a day 1 purchase for me just because of the GWP incentive. I wouldn’t be surprised if the GWP sells for around £120 on the usual secondary market places. So can always offset the high price tag by selling the GWP but will be keeping mine 😊
Yep that’s most definitely the smart thing to do, this will likely end up on sale when it gets to other retailers. If it wasn’t for the promo I would wait🙂
@@TheDyslexicGeak do you know if this is a LEGO exclusive or could I expect to find it from other retailers? I could maybe miss out on the GWP if it meant getting a discount down the line
@@SeanM132 it will most likely be Lego exclusive for a few months but most other UCS sets end up at other retailers so no reason why the Sail Barge will be any different
Have to say…. I think it looks amazing. Seriously tempted to pick this up. As it’s relatively thin (compared to some of the other UCS sets) I could also display this on a shelf or on top of my bookcase. Love the mini figures. Just think it’s a bit naughty they’ve effectively spun off the Desert Skiff & Sarlacc Pit which most people would want to pair with this and that’s an extra £70…. Grrr
That’s what I like about the set, it’s not hugely wide, makes it easier putting on a shelf🙂Yeah definitely stings a bit having to buy the Desert Skiff set separately but it’s widely available so it will be on sale in few months, so I can wait for it🙂
Mixed feelings on this one. I like it and will get it but not sure about day 1. I do like the GWP so that might push me over the edge but the full price hurts so I’m not sure. I may wait for a sale and just miss out on the GWP
I think it looks fantastic but if I’m honest if it wasn’t for the promo I would wait for a sale, especially after seeing how much Argos have reduced the Venator by, kinda makes me feel ill every time lol. But the lightsabers always go for silly money so it’s a huge incentive🙂
@@TheDyslexicGeak I know what you mean. I wonder if they will have produced a lot of lightsabers though so the market will be more saturated. It might be enough to tip me over. Need to see some reviews
@@Ultra_bricks I expect the promo will be in high demand, I doubt it will be available for more than 24 hours, you just know Lego will not make enough for demand
@@TheDyslexicGeak I know what you mean. It’s a tough one. I really like the gwp but don’t want to pay that much for the barge. If I got the gwp I don’t know that I would want to sell it. Got a bit of time yet to decide
Proberly a scam name, they normaly write on finans yt- videos( or with a lot of sub...) . They almost/always start with someone Saying at he/She earn Maybe like 10.000 a week in passive income/make it seem like easy money.the next scammer then say a scam name.
Yeah there is no getting around the price, it’s not cheap, the promo totally swings it for me, certainly a lot better than what Lego offered with the Venator last year
It’s certainly not cheap and the Star Wars tax is certainly a factor in the price comparisons to other large Lego sets. If it wasn’t for the promo I would wait but I was also anticipating the barge being £500+ so makes it little more attractive to me🙂
@@pandafu2980 oh wow that’s tough, personally I’m a bigger HP fan these days and having built both Gringotts and Diagon Alley, I would go for Diagon Alley, it’s fantastic🙂
