Even as a Charger’s fan I wasn’t the biggest Rivers fan in the beginning. But he definitely earned a lot of my respect from this game. Though we lost the fact he played with that kind of injury shows how much heart the guy really had. Of course one’s gotta wonder too how we would’ve done against the pats if we were at 100%
The real play that changed the colts was the redskin defense trying to rip Peyton mannings head off, causing his neck injury that led to the 2011 terrible season and getting luck while sending msnning off to retire elsewhere.
“Was even part of a three score comeback against the Arizona Cardinals” Sorry but lost all credibility with that statement, I can tell you didn’t watch that game. Rex Grossman had nothing (NOTHING) to do with that comeback. That comeback was all on defensive plays that got returned for touchdowns and a huge punt return for a touchdown by the best to ever do it.
Also to say he had a solid college career is not being honest..He has been inducted in the College Football hall of fame as a Gator Great...He finished second to University of Nebraska quarterback Eric Crouch in one of the closest votes in Heisman Trophy history, losing by only 62 votes. He earned accolades as a consensus first-team All-American, the AP National Player-of-the-Year, and finalist for other awards, including the Walter Camp National Player-of-the-Year Award, the Maxwell College Player-of-the-Year Award, and the Davey O'Brien National Quarterback-of-the-Year Award.
That wasn’t tough. That was kind of dumb and irresponsible. He had one of the best backup qbs in the league in Volek who had lead the Chargers on a game winning drive the game before. But it doesn’t really matter who was at qb. They weren’t beating the Pats.
I hated Manning because he kept beating my Denver Broncos, especially in the Playoffs. Of course that changed from hate to love when he became a Bronco. All the things he did as a Colt I loved when he did them for my team. This was a great explanation. Thanks. I thought his neck injury was from an accumulation of hits over the years. But that hit definitely looked like the one that started it all. No surprise that the head hunter coach, Gregg Williams was behind it.
I rember watching the hit that Y. A. Tittle took the ended his career. If you goolel it there is a picture of him pn this knees, helment on the ground, looking like he doesn't know what just happened and his head a bloody mess. He never made another play.
This was an amazing performance, but I have to say the greatest demonstration of toughness in NFL history was Johnny Unitas completing a game with three broken ribs and a punctured lung.
And what WEARD about that play ? NO flag on it ? He was hit low & high , bent over back words & oh, they They also went up & over his head ? Do that to BRADY & they will HANG you ! Flag for sure ! P. Rivers LAST Play Off Game in New England , were HE was hit in the neck / head around 8 times & NOT 1 F#CKING flag was thrown ! Protect the QB"S ! Yea , you mean PROTECT just a couple of the QB"S ! Last year in the SAME week end , Josh Allen & Justin Herbert WERE hit [ LATE ] out of bounds , NO flags on either play !
Butterfly effect always been happening. I remember the first example I witnessed was Brady taking over the Pats...when Drew Bledsoe got hurt. It affected many players and teams. Manning's last year and SB...good thing he had the best defense in the NFL. Just a year prior, he was MVP candidate. One hit. One snap. One year. Can change MANY THINGS...in an instant. It's a type of destiny.
As a Texans fan, I was honestly sad when Luck retired, dude was a class act and just fun to watch, but man did Irsay mess up. Literally no O-line the entire time he was there, and then when he retires I remember the Colts stadium booing….
As a fan I remember this hit and forgot about it. It's still as bad back then as it is now. This is why I'm 100% okay with paying BigQ 20M a yr or JT the type of money he wanted last season. I believe in AR and I'm glad he and the organization gave him time to heal. Also giving him the best chance to succeed. The Colts are learning from their past mistakes by waiving Manning and letting Luck take all those hits.
It's sad that he pretty much gave up on that play and prepared himself for the take down and 3 opponents still took him down in a way I think was unnecessary. I think secretly there is too much desire to take out the competition in many NFL defenses. Some play with great respect for the opponent, but a lot of them don't and some end up getting hurt unnecessarily! I've seen on many occasions when a defense is getting their ass handed to them the tackling starts getting a bit ridiculous and the poor sportsmanship you see will never go away! The QB before Luck had something happened to him years ago against Washington that I thought was equally disgusting, but we can blame that POS Greg Williams for that!
Honestly I thought the play would be the lacerated kidney vs the broncos but I think you might be right this might be the one that started it all. Dude was an absolute warrior and played through so much. But in the end Luck might have been too damn tough for his own good.
I remember watching this live and noticing the wince. I didn't think much of it then, but when he missed the 2017 season, I remembered the wince. For the life of me I couldn't remember which game it was until now. Really good video.
I clicked this thinking it would be 2012 in Detroit, when the Colts were losing…until the Lions failed to convert a 3rd down to allow them to run out the clock. The Colts got the ball back, and from their own end of the field, Luck engineered a TD drive in the final moments to win. I was there.
Luck could throw the best dime ball ever. He wasn’t as accurate as Rivers but he had great anticipatory throws. Rivers was probably the best at that. Him and Luck
Brother these are good videos but you should make your own style. Everything from the thumbnail to the video format is biting Secret Base HEAVY. Not a problem since their format is great, but be your own creator
