Welcome to the fellowship of the varanus where we come together for our clan meetings live on Sundays (8pm GMT)
My names Paul, proud owner of mango, the worlds most famous mangrove monitor, monitor lizards are my thing, all reptiles but mainly monitors! Trying to share my journey on here including the highs and lows, no restrictions no glorifications, what happens is what you’ll see.
I hope we can continue to grow as a community and learn together and bring everyone up as we go!
I think that’s about all, so if you wanna become part of the gang, hit subscribe🫡
Sorry to hear about your family. Love to see a reptile room tour! God damn both of those kingorum look amazing! I’m super excited to see how you set them up and them breeding hopefully 🎉
My condolences. Had to go to something similar recently so i can certainly relate to how you feel. Kingorum definetly is a dream species for me, unfortunately whenever i saw them available they were UBER expensive haha :D
Glad to see your return on here ! Great update video & happy to hear you guys are doing well. Sorry about all of your losses 😔 that’s never easy to deal with. Sending lots of positive vibes to you & Fi ! 🙏🏻 & would be totally stoked to see a tour of your new reptile room ! 🦎😎🤙🏻
Love the content i have turtles and think this could be a light for me i do however have a question or two first do they get hot being t5 tubes or are they cool like led second would you think they would be ok for turtles e.g. water protection also thinking of African frogs again whats your take ,,any info would be good and keep up the good work
So all light will produce heat, the T5’s do get hot yeah but not like a basking lamp, the LED also gets hot but not like a basking The new IP protection will be more than fine for any species no matter the humidity :) For me all reptiles/amphibians should get some uvb so yeah!
@@paulsmonitors Great i do have a uvb bulb but to be honest it looks rubbish and the turtles deserve better thanks for the reply and your content is really a good watch ty
@@paulsmonitorsoh I thought you said in one of your earlier videos that it was some sort of clay, my bad. I’m actually trying decomposed granite. It holds a burrow very well and my female just dug a burrow in it today. If she doesn’t lay In the next day or so I will switch to a sand soil mix.
@@paulsmonitors copy that, I have the bags ready to go. I was actually going to switch it today to a sand soil mix but when I opened the lay box I saw a perfect burrow and decided to leave it alone for now. Thanks 🙏
Appreciate the longer tristis video, Im looking to get one and it helps to see actual taming down videos and what to expect! Itll be my first monitor lizard :']
Hi paul i will be looking for a mangrove at the end of the year building a 8x6x4w viv so a big poject with a 7ft pool would love to buy one off you how do i contact you ?
I have hit this point too. i have been breeding rachs since 2007 and recently took an actual step back an re-assessed. confirmation bias has played a major role in my keeping until the final year. I am currently doing some videos myself to try change perception in my sector. My vivs are now custom made, and the behavioural difference, especially with leachianus is massive! pair bonding, no issues. its all changed for me! Morally, I can still breed, but i need to breed responsibly. breed for fewer numbers and enjoy them and the process again. see them behaving as they should, deeper study the behaviour and species, improve the industry and community. For me now, its about closing the gap between keepers and breeders. Minimum standards are not the minimum, as they do not allow for natural behaviours. we need to aim so much higher, regardless of the cost towards ourselves and ensue we do so much more to protect the animals we put out into the community be it private or commercial.
Plan to get a dwarf monitor in a few years, vid was super helpful in teaching me about proper feeding and health. One thing I was surprised about was the size of the female tristis, I thought they were around 70-80 cm prior to watching this. Sorry about what happened to her.
Holy, you have described my situation to a T. The amount of hobbies I have picked and dropped is insane. It is the biggest thing I worry about with getting a monitor.
