I'm The Eradicator and I make videos about Star Citizen but also other games that I like. Feel free to join me on my various social media platforms, and let's hang out!
Happened to me tonight. Was at a Vaughn mission and suddenly died from an invisible asteroid. When I went back to my body maker all of the ships I soft killed had vanished and even my body vanished after doing a 360 looking for said ships. Rip Max-lift and 3 tigersclaw 😂
Same thing happened to me when doing a cargo mission using my MSR, I got wedged between the container and the inside wall of my ship. Had to abandon the mission and suicide 😢
Imagine when the control module or cockpit fir Caterpillar is removable... You could bring your own Caterpillar and swap cockpits and just fly the whole salvaged Caterpillar to an area that will buy everything...or most of it.
the dream is there, you can see it working, it just needs a lot of work. I agree with what someone else in the comments said, remove object collision while they are being tractored.
While we love PES, these things should NOT persist forever & ever. The servers should wipe older objects say a week old. And medical gowns should NOT persist... EVER.
Bring back the black, require the use of a ping to detect surroundings. Adds the risk Vs reward when getting hunted..... To ping and see things, but increase your signature.
All of you people have done no research in game before, in order to get that caterpillar to persist, you need to go sit in the pilot chair. Have you considered the fact that server persistence does not work for soft death-ed ships because it would generate so much lag for a server that had been up for anywhere past an hour or so?. Also no, a soft death-ed ship will not de-spawn when there is a player rendering it in, only when you lose it's marker at 15km+ does it de-spawn (That is about the render distance for ships.) Player bodies de-spawning immediately is a bug, and it has been patched, then reappears over and over again. If you don't like the fact that you need to go to the forums and report bugs, then stop putting out clickbait. Also, the corsair has a three high cargo grid, you don't need to put those boxes to the side
It did this in 3.23 aswell. I dont know what triggers persistence, but i always had to leave a partner behind with my ERT wrecks to keep it from despawning.
I strongly believe they can give us a better persistence experiences by just making it tiered storage: local, server and cloud. Local can be scrap items that are local to you like bottles and gowns, but are synced when others are nearby. The server can be busy with items that should be interactable; gear, ships, boxes and what not. Cloud should hold long term storage that is only synced whenever someone is nearby. But hey, maybe the CIG developers had something like this planned or they just all kept it in a single location...
All enemy NPC ships are on an aggressive clean-up. Enemy AI are also on an aggressive clean-up, along with some wreck parts, after people like Salty Mike and Morphologis complained about the persistence. The thing is, people can't have it both ways. But hopefully CIG goes back to what the persistence was like in 3.18 and 3.19 once thye get things stable. The people complaining about the "junk" can play games like Star Wars Outlaws where nothing persists.
Server Meshing will or won't improve this? Persistence is a different layer, right? But they have to tune it so the server can cope. Hopefully when servers are more numerous they will be able to deal with more objects and persistence will increase? Or will the persistence layer not cope? The scenario in this video is pretty basic. One can only hope!
I move broken up parts of ships for cover or to get myself unstuck from areas I can't jump over. People use to use Cutty cockpit windows as FPS shields. I love seeing a story as I arrive to a place, but now it's mostly gone.
Seems way too exposed. And the potential loss of reputation is just not worth the risk, imo. I guess cargo hauling will not be in my future until things change for the better.
I don't think anyone believes a damn thing out of CR's mouth after so many lies. Absolutely nothing he says is the truth about the progress of SC. It's all a marketing campaign, it's not even a game any longer it's just a marketing campaign cash grab and lies. Much like the definition of fraud.
I said this in 3.19 only one patch after 3.18 and persistent patch. Before that you could find dead players corpse's with all their gear on in bunkers and anywhere else they had died and could even see their name, now nothing can't remember last time I just randomly came across a dead player. The white knights started crying it's because there's not many people playing due to bugs... Bullshit I used to find these bodies in 3.16 when it was 50 players per server.
Are you stupid or what ? It's likely a bug with entitiy streaming/un-streaming Yesterday i was able to retrieve my ship wreck one day after in the same shard at same location If there were no more persistance like you're claiming , the corsair would not persist neither It's like you're lying in front of the eyes of your community
3:28 this has been happening for as long as I can remember (3.19), there are some tricks you can do to get the boxes of a wreck to persist, but the wreck of the shot down ship will always disappear if you leave the locality. I suspect this will be addresses in the near future
