There are a few around Greater Vic still alive. The microclimates around Greater Vic are crazy. Plus, SSI, as you know, with Banana Joe has some very healthy ones.
MY CH is recovering with about two dozen pups popping up down low. A neighbor of mine had his freeze damaged CH pruned back with a 5' primary trunk and 4 lower trunks cut back to ground level...and two of those low trunks are growing new crowns!
Not sure, but the second yucca that looks like a rostrata with the little filaments might be a really mature yucca elata...I have one but it is nowhere near that size!
Yes, lots of patience. This was my first year growing a Sabal Miamiensis. One out of the two survived, with one frond left on it. It's first fan emerged last month. I ended up buying another one. I probably didn't plant it deep enough
She's as cool as Ronnie was the best one of my favorite artist of all time, had the honor of seeing him front Sabbath in 82 MSG,NYC 5 times solo once in Japan in 88🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤗🌴🇺🇸
The cat from genus catis ferilis... haha...love the collection I had to cut my crepe myrtle down a bit to the ground and the mimosa as well know about global warming😢
Great to know. Sorry but English not my native language. Could not understand 'where' to put the hydrogen peroxide. Good wishes to the pa ytee and you😊 and all your other trees too.🤍💙
Put it down the trunk where the palm spears come out of. After you have spear pull there will be a hole there, you want the peroxide to kill any bacteria and fungi so it doesn’t kill the growth point/the heart of the palm. Thanks for watching :)
Great vid! The Canna's, do you leave them in the pot over winter and outside? Or bring them in (either the bulb itself or the entire pot) to the greenhouse? Also, what were those grasses/blades, behind the musa bajoo?
I leave the cannas in the greenhouse to let overwinter, outside would get too cold for them. I have kept them going for over 6 years now from a small plant I got for free shopping at superstore. 😎. The blades are most likely Crocosmia starting to come up.
Thanks so much for the tour - fabulous collection!!! I saw a few that are on my bucket list LOL. I have to ask how you water and feed all those plants?
I use a sprinkler and water by hand…. It’s a lot of work! I have a buddy that is going to set up an irrigation system for me, can’t wait! As for feeding, I use a granular fertilizer twice a year on most things. For the fruit trees I use fertilizer spikes in the spring. I also use a lot of mulch which helps keep the weeds down and water in the ground by limiting evaporation.
Looks great! My chamaerops took a beating but my 4 yucca rostrata look great after the 4 day subzero arctic blast we had mid January in PDX. I thought it odd that my fan palm didn't turn brown until weeks after the freeze.
