NO NOTCH NEEDED! - 2nd Design LOW MOUNT LS Swap AC Bracket - UTX

Today at Ugly Truck, we’re fabricating another low mount AC compressor bracket for another 5.3L LS swapped squarebody C10. Jerry’s first bracket design used a stretch fit belt, which led to some issues. So today, we’re using a belt tensioner and thicker steel for the perfected compressor mount! Be sure to check out the first video for more info!

- 3" x 3/8" steel flat bar
- 1 1/2" x 3/8" steel flat bar
- 3/4" x 3/4" steel square bar

Awesome intro guys!!! I hope to be back on my engine in a few days. I just got back home. I was admitted for a mini stroke. I'm good now. Just need to make a few changes. My grand daughter wants to learn as well. I am very excited about that as well. Gotta make a few changes for them. I plan on being here a long while. Emily, I have (HEARD) that even looking at a weld through a camera can damage your eyes. Not sure how true it is.

You guys are the king and queen of the ls! I'm finally driving mine in an 86 gmc 3500 3+3. One question I have is where do you get the air conditioning hoses? I need the same ones you have on that truck right there at the end of the video. Thanks again for the gas pedal plate!

Hey Lou, that's awesome!! We're so glad to hear your swap is on the road! We didn't do the swap on this truck, we just moved the engine back and fixed some things. I'm not sure where those hoses came from, and thankfully we didn't have to mess with them. Stretch Belt < Tensioner Belt We have a ‘21 Trail Boss Silverado with the 5.3. Changing that belt (what I think was a little too early) really sucked. So much work for a belt. Made sure to put even MORE tools in the truck toolbox because of that.

Jerry, nice job on the bracket! I was thinking that some modifications to the factory bracket could help it fit. If it does, I will still have a tight squeeze on the a/c hoses; right? Does your bracket bring the compressor closer to the engine block making room for factory hose connections?

I lied 😂 one more question… does the rear bolt of your bracket lie directly behind the motor mount causing you to have it installed before setting the engine in place? Mine is directly behind the mount.
