One problem was that it only released on next gen consoles, which has a small install base. The card seems a bit random at first blush and the "build your relationships" with the characters, while a nice take on the strategic side, seemed shallow.
X4's interface makes the vanilla TES V:Skyrim's UI look like a professional, well-made user-friendly experience. Aside from that, bugs bugs bugs, Xenon are ridiculous and just wipe you without breaking a sweat, turrets never hit anything and big ships are practically rocks in space that barely move and look like shit. Overall 3/10 , it is fun until it's not and that switch happens pretty quickly.
I been playing Xcom games since its first release back in DOS days, and i have been wondering when the next release would be, i have been enjoying the new xcom games alot and the plot do line up for a xcom 3 to be released at some point, they just have to make sure the game can be modded or its a fail of an xcom game.
Re Needing a powerful GPU. It will in large part depend on the hardware it is driving. A 24" 1080p - 60hz monitor requires fewer brmm brmms than a 38" 2160p - 144hz monster. I just bought myself one of these, mainly for the hdd capacity, I went a little over budget because it's a be quiet! I've had a pretty good experience with their products and customer service in the past.
Typical example of CEOs and sales teams thinking in spreadsheets rather than common sense. Superhero genre is popular, brainless entertainment, the exact opposite of strategy games. Searching there for strat or tactical game playerbase is like searching for snow on the equator.
What, not satisfied with the spin-offs? Let's see here: XCOM: EU - international task force against alien invasion. XCOM 2 - guerilla movement against authoritarian dictatorship. XCOM: Chimera Squad - alien collaborator SWAT team against random gangs XCOM: whatever - bland mobile skinner box Is this not a satisfying conclusion to the saga??
i remember life before steam. its what drove me from pc gaming. i loved pc gaming before steam. it was so simple and fun. the forced updates were a pain especially when an older version worked well on an older pc. hate steam… still do. its been 10 years i disagree that they have to make money. EVERY PC game is on steam. It is a monopoly. They must make stacks of money already thru distribution. They distribute games. You can bet they get a fee for it.
Thinking of the vast amount of X-Com clones and how bad games have become these days I can really go without a third X-Com. The chances are simply way too high that a third X-Com would be just another disaster.
Really loving these recordings. Ive been playing my own playthrough as you have been playing yours and its become an tradition to pull up your absurdly long XCOM vids to watch these as I play. Hope you keep adding more!
@@napyet My campaign is going on similar pace to yours I love seeing what tactics and strategies we use in missions and what research we prioritize idk why really interesting to me. Do you think you would ever do this video format with mods? I would be interested in any cool mod packs since I've only really played vanilla XCOM
@@theokarnowski7806 I've tried mods in the past and wouldn't rule it out! There are some cool ones where you can really customize the look and skills of the classes more which I really liked. Long War is a biggie - but would be an incredibly long series of videos!
I really enjoyed SWG back in the day, anything that continues that kind of game is welcome to move the gaming industry and player satisfaction forward. However, I don't like where this game is headed. All of the design looks great, EXCEPT the toddler art style that completely ruins any interest in it for me.
I don't think the effect of marvel fatigue can be understated. It was a real failure of disney that, instead of gracefully letting it calm down to a more sustainable level after the hype and interest hit a crescendo they tried to maintain the same amount of output and profit. And ultimately it lead to an overflowing of mediocre films and adaptations that took down good projects like midnight suns with it.
I did not buy Midnight Suns because i did not want to encourage Firaxis to make more of Marvel shit. I voted with my wallet. If that game was successful, we would not get a XCOM 3, we would've gotten more Marvel shit. Marvel has done a lot of harm to my beloved games, including Deus Ex series.
Or it might have somthing to do with the fact the game is still moving units at £35 a pop for the base game, and draws in mega bucks when the DLC goes on sale...
If it looks anything like XCOM 2 I'd rather the franchise dies. I like gritty realism and sci-fi horror, not turn-based Fortnite with Power Rangers characters.
its not as foolproof as snipers in the last game, but having 2 reapers(you can get a second if you delay looking for templars by a lot)with expanded mags, repeaters, attach claymore, banish and anihilate and any other armor piercing and aim upgrades, with two sparks with blaster launchers/shredstorm cannons can clear blacksites even on higher dificulties alone
I feel like the characters in BG3 are well written bad characters lol. They are just so cliche and all happens to be someone’s fetish. I mean where is unloveable sour dwarf that no one wants to bang? Nowhere, but what about a daring handsome wizard that used to date a god? Not your thing? How about a dommy mommy muscular demon chick? Goth gf? Dashing swashbuckler with a heart of gold? Charming vampire that can walk in daylight? Whatever your thing is the games got it covered. Granted they are all well written. Nothing compared to Pillars of Eternity though, where especially the characters Avellone wrote really makes you feel something, and that’s sometimes revulsion and doubt, sometimes sadness, or even hope. It’s a deeper experience and a darker slower paced narrative than BG3. Also you have to be willing to slow down and read, which is hard for any person born in today’s modern society.
Midnight Suns failed because it has mid-tier graphics and storytelling. The big selling points of modern Marvel is personalities and spectacle, so great looking cinematic adventure games is the natural fit. Midnight Suns was pretty much sandwiched between the two best modern Marvel action-adventure games, making it the inferior option for Marvel fans.
Would love some in-depth commentary on how you managed to get through those first two missions flawlessly. Playing a legendary run through myself and I don't seem to be doing much different to you but I only seem to avoid squad wipes due to luck, if at all.
1 great thing about Oblivion (Of many) Was that the joinable factions were better than Skyrim's and when you got to the highest rank and completed the final quest it feels like youve earned it. Whereas in Skyrim you become head of eg the College Of Winterhold after about 8 quests and theres no ranking system.
The reason games like this die out is because the average gamer is braindead. They dont like singleplayer games where at the highest difficulty you need intelligence, they want multiplayer games that give you adrenaline and button mashing. Also, 20 years ago when Strategy games were at the top of the market, fathers and adults in general started gaming instead of just children. Now, 5-10 yr olds are being allowed to play games online for hours by shitty gen z parents... they have no interest in these games
you do know every generation writes similar sentiment? And same thing was thrown before reimgaining of Xcom, that strategy games cant be profitable anymore. Imho as in every generation there is a part that would play a good strategy game, if its made.
@@firestarter000001 nope..... because they were being made. They just werent bought, and thats how franchises like C&C and Starcraft died. because the audience got younger and younger kids dont play strategy, look it up... they want adrenaline (SHOOTERS)
@@86niisan8686 Thats simply untrue. Civilization, Total War series, Age of Wonders, X-Com , Mechabellum are all strategy games that are fairly recent and succesfull. SC2 sure isnt as huge as it once was but is far from dead, im playing regularly the ladder , never waiting more then a minute, usually its instant. I also watch often pro matches as even the pro scene is alive. There is also alot of new upcoming RTSes. So you are simply wrong, happy to sing the same old false song "our generation was great, this new one cant think and is lazy"
I'm not getting SWG vibes out of this game. I'm not a fan of the cartoon look. However, there are not many MMOS on the horizon, so I'll just keep it on the list, but i'm not really excited or keeping my hopes up that this game will succeed to SWG levels.
idk.. it's still the strategy game that it is. X-com doesnt have that franchise seperate from the game. it's not ultra specific on certain characters. So from my point of view your potential is still limited to the x-com audience mostly. Coining it that specifically on Marvel though, I'm not interested. It's more like you expose the title to two instead of one exclusion factors. I wonder how the numbers actually did.
so what I see streight away when I check the steam stats on vginsights is that Marvel's Midnight Suns got 753 active players and Xcom2 got 3596. Xcom2 got a gross revenue of 139,4 million and midnight suns got 20,8 million... the numbers do not negate my statement. So idk about more people interested in the genre. I don't think it does well in that regard. I also think that Xcom is as well a success because it was NOT that specific about some main actors. much like Fallout. You do world design and people want to be part of that world. Even the "commander" is intentionally vague, so much so that you don't even see a face. The one time they broke with it was The Bureau XD and that also relfects my statement. $9,7m gross revenue. Keep going. Try to make Xcom something that it's not. Surely going to be a success MUCH more than Xcom1 and 2. Surely going to be a success listening to a single persons sales pitch rather than an established community. The community will CERTAINLY eat anything they get handed down
I was the reason they changed the combat system in SWG. Anyone who played on the Valcyn server for an extended amount of time may have encountered a particularly invincible trandoshan Teras Kasi Master 😛
