Great video. I've been trying forever to find what is causing my driveline vibration and I think this is it. Sounds like 5 inch lift on a stock D44 axle just isn't the best combo even with adjustable control arms.
Very informative video! I am not a jeepster.. i have a 2018 4runner.. with the king suspension..my hiem joints at the bottom of the suspension are squeaking like crazy.. they did last over 5 years!! But my suspension is in need of a rebuild now.😅 Ive been bandaiding the sqeaking with white lithium grease.. which has been ok thus far.. but i cannot wait till my suspension gets rebuilt..
I have a 2001 F250 7.3 and a 2010 wrangler JKU with a 4" lift. I have replaced almost everything on the wrangler and i am pretty nice to it. The oem parts are garbage. The f250 on the other hand i beat the crap out of its a crew cab 8 ft bed and i haul gravel, stone, dirt, drive it year round in Minnesota and have only replaced the brakes a s leaf springs, shocks and starter. I like the jeep because it is so little but i feel like if i was going to do a dana 60 swap i would just buy an f250 and shorten it and have something that didnt totally suck and need to have everything replaced with aftermarket parts. Maybe put a wrangler body on it so i can take the top off in the spring before the mosquitoes get insane.....but the f250 interior is way better too. I dont know ive had jeeps my whole life im just really getting tired of fixing them. If you dont have a welder and a torch you need to buy something else or have a lot of money.
UHaul won't rent to me because, when I got out of jail I had no vehicle so I rented a UHaul for a couple of days. I returned it a month later, didnt get charges (criminal) but i was banned from ever renting from them.
This is true for inexpensive oils. Use a high end like Schaeffer’s and you can easily go 7,000 - 10,000 miles between an oil change. If you do not believe it, send it off and get your oil tested. Schaefer’s will test it.
Are you by any chance located around the northside of San Antonio? I think I've seen you around the neighborhood. I'm taking ownership of my daughters JK next month and will be looking for things to do with it.
I just ordered that part straight from Mopar for mine. I took the jeep to the dealer and explained the issues I was experiencing, and they can’t seem to find anything wrong with it! It’s not showing any codes on the dashboard or anything! I also told them about the smell of gasoline too! But they said they did a diagnostic and nothing shows! Thanks for the video! Hopefully this is the problem with mine!
I hope it does! It’s crazy how bad they can run and not throw a code related to this. You’ll have a better running jeep even if this doesn’t solve the issue. But it more than likely will. Let me know!
Great video! I’ve been needing to rebuild my th350 for a while now..I don’t have to money to pay someone to do it, and I haven’t found a video as thorough as yours. I’m actually excited to tackle this project now. Can’t wait to watch the rest of them before I start.
I just bought beads and having terrible luck with them and now I’m looking on the interwebs for information on what might be the issue. You referred to ceramic beads. The ones I purchased are supposed to be tempered glass. Is this the same thing or are these garbage also? I went with the company’s recommended amount for my size tire and thinking about weighing it and seeing if I should add more. Does the weight include the wheel or just the tire weight? Last question, should I have removed the stick on weights from when the tires was previously balanced?
So you might have a few things happening. Ceramic beads are generally the ones to use over something like a plastic air soft bb like lots of people do. The tempered glass ones that you used might be okay. But balance heads generally will work best at highway speed and in larger tires. They also won’t work if you have other issues like worn balljoints, a bad alignment, a strange wear pattern on your tire, etc. so it might not be the beads fault. You also have to be sure you are using enough of them.
@@hossbronco yea. Tbh, I have always had good luck either making my own steering out of heim joints and DOM…or running Apex steering. Their balljoints work great tbh.
If you run a hot wash with vinegar in your washing machine after washing your shop rags it will clean the washer out. Just do a quick rinse in a bucket of soapy water before you put the rags in the washing machine. I was an Appliance technician for over 20 years.
Searching RU-vid for temperature issues with my 2017 Sahara. Fan is running full speed constantly while driving. At park, it slows down. But the temperature gauge is at half 99% of the time. I’m going to try your advice in cleaning out the fan. Appreciate the video.
Just removed my hardtop for the first time and I personally hate people staring at me through my rearview mirror without a rear tinted window lol. Having a massive 40 covering that space looks badass and takes care of my insercurities 😂 I used one wide strap and routed it through the pillars and tire holes and back to the other side of the strap. Thanks!
I’m on the fence about doing the weld on brackets, Reid passenger knuckle with bolt on high steer on, or sending the stock knuckles to Weaver for machining and their bolt on arm. Decisions….
Honestly, I like building things so they are strong. But also so they are able to be serviced by you on a trail…quickly. You brake something related to that factory knuckle…and the parts (even the knuckle itself) are available at parts stores. That’s why I like them. You won’t be able to get certain replacement parts that quickly in the middle of nowhere. And that kind of thing ends a wheeling trip fast. It’s usually not a problem. But when/if it is, I like to have options. These weld on steering parts won’t break. And even if a weld broke, you still have the bolt in there to fall back on. Plus it would take a balljoint…or other options that are available to fit the factory knuckles. I know the Reid’s are the same in that respect. But I wouldn’t send anything out to be machined for those reasons.
If I ever do a junkyard one ton swap I will for sure be going all Artec. There’s other brands that make great stuff, but it seems artec just makes it the best when it comes to one ton stuff.
Would you please explain pros & cons of slider box leaf mounts and why you didnt choose them for your front leaf sping mounts at front of jeep and how that relates to approach angle in a video? Considering a four corner leaf set-up on my XJ.... and on the future buggy project coming up....
So they work great. But they are just loud. The jk was packaged really tight having never been a rig that had a frame designed for leaf springs. So it was just easier to put it in this way. Ut those work!

I like the ARB better because the shape on the inside isn't beating the fluid unlike the other the cover is almost flat on the inside beating up the fluid and causing the fluid to foam up. Just my opinion.
That is definitely a concern. But with that in the ARB comes the issues of the o rings breaking down and then it being a pain to replace them. So it’s definitely a this for that. 🤷🏻♂️
I have 35” at tires mounted but having trouble getting them balanced. Should I remove the wheel weights that I have on the wheels before I try the beads or can I just leave the weights on and add the beads?? Thanks
Good question. I’d leave the wheel weights on at this point. It’s strange that you are having trouble getting them balanced. The weights typically aren’t required. But they are bringing it closer to that sweet spot provided the person that balanced them knew what they were doing. Throw some beads in and see what happens. It might be just enough at this point. Typically balance beads work best in larger tires. But if you are having that much trouble….you have nothing to lose at this point.
They might. Strange that you have been to 3 shops and can’t get the em balanced. What tires are they? Typically beads work best on larger tires. But it might be worth a shot.
Good luck. I’m pretty far from NYC. But honestly, any gear shop would be able to do them. You could always contact a transmission shop and ask them for a recommendation. They’ll usually know someone.
I’ve got the same eastwood welder and I’m currently welding on the apex truss. My welds however aren’t anything close to what you’re putting down. I’ve got it set for 250 amps and 20 volts but it seems like I’m not getting the penetration into the tube that I was hoping for. What voltage did you use when you were welding the truss to the tubes?
So do you have it hooked up to a 220 outlet? Because that will change things. The digital read out in mine is set to 150-170 wire speed and 18-19…depending on what I’m welding. Then I just move slow with a 75/25 argon mix and the gas set to 12 psi. But I tend to weld slow. Which puts more heat into it. I spend a tiny bit more time on the thicker stuff and kid of whip the puddle onto the thinner stuff. I also tend to do a side to side “Z” pattern instead of loops like some others do.
@@WarPaintOffroad ok cool. Yeah I’ve got it hooked up to a 220 generator. I felt like I was moving fast for the wire speed but wasn’t sure how to best increase the heat to the work piece without getting crazy undercut. Thank you for the help and thank you for the videos you inspired me to build my own set of junkyard tons!
Body lift won’t affect anything with the alignment other than the drag-link adjustment to recenter the steering wheel after the body lift is installed.
