I know its an old video but had to comment. Really appreciate the documentation of what the town looked like during the time period. And appreciate you giving it a vehicle to be seen. Invaluable.
if you experienced Macrays fried clams it spoiled you for life , i never ever ever wait in line for anything except for Macrays , and now every time i get fried clams it's a disappointment for me

Interesting to listen in on. Brings back memories of when I used to always turn that thumb dial on the armrest of my seat and use those cheap earpieces to listen to the pilots' converse with the towers while flying coast to coast. Thx MLB
Why would they not have had an going out of bussiness sale for all the equip and things like the pool table and anything else worth any kind of money so they could at least try to help some of the workers who lost their jobs and their retirement ! Thats just sad for a worker to have stayed expecting to have money to retire and end up with nothing is just soooo sad ......
Grew up on Wayne street my family spent a lot of time there at the Bayside shame to see that happen used to be a nice small town bar that just locals went to thanks again Mark
I’m a 21 year old resident of Fairhaven Ma. I love being able to watch this vintage footage of my hometown! Getting to take a look at what it was like for my parents and grandparents is like using a Time Machine! Thank you for uploading this!
Mrs Richards: "I paid for a room with a view !" Basil: (pointing to the lovely view) "That is Torquay, Madam ." Mrs Richards: "It's not good enough!" Basil: "May I ask what you were expecting to see out of a Torquay hotel bedroom window ? Sydney Opera House, perhaps? the Hanging Gardens of Babylon? Herds of wildebeest sweeping majestically past?..." Mrs Richards: "Don't be silly! I expect to be able to see the sea!" Basil: "You can see the sea, it's over there between the land and the sky." Mrs Richards: "I'm not satisfied. But I shall stay. But I expect a reduction." Basil: "Why?! Because Krakatoa's not erupting at the moment ?"
I have a similar video and was trying to find out what specific parade this was. My dad took his parade film . It was before my time. I was born in 53. I do miss what the city once was. I had a great childhood on the Acushnet River before the dike came and ruined our beaches. Thanks for the extra info. Loved your video. Thank you.
