I am a kayak fisherman based in Western PA, and I absolutely love it. I always fish for bass, but I'll take anything I can get out there, you never know what's going to hit your lure!
I mostly don't do intro's. I mostly don't teach anything. I mostly just fish. 🙂
What type and size kayak do you prefer on pymatuning? I’m curious to hear your thoughts on the size of kayak relative to the size and conditions of a lake like pymatuning
I think a longer kayak is probably nicer in general, especially for bigger water that can get rough. I have a Slayer Max 10 because I can lift it and get it around behind my house, but I'd probably go for a 12ft kayak if I was in any other situation. So, you can absolutely do it in a shorter kayak, but you'd probably enjoy it more on a longer one.
I live in central Ohio and have never been to Presque. I hear April and May is the time to go, any advice? I have a Bass Tracker 165 with just a 9.9 on the back, I hear misery bay stays pretty calm?
Yo! That is absolutely the time to go. You'd be plenty safe in and around Misery Bay with a small boat, since it's pretty shallow. If the wind isn't bad, a bit south of that there are plenty of rock piles scattered around in 10-14ft, find em and keep throwing stuff at them, youll def get smashed!
Merry Christmas brother. I'm heading to Florida the first of the year here. Going to set my RV up right next to Roland Martin. I'm so lucky. I haven't met him yet but he is staying at a private campground that I stayed at last year. Best bass lake in the United States Stick Marsh and headwaters lake. Is the headwaters of the St John's River. You can Google his site it's called what's happening Roland. He has a site he updates weekly. He uses the camp as a base for his guide service
That's fantastic! Roland is one of the all time greats! I'd love to fish with the guy! Hope you have a great time in Florida and tell Roland I said hello! 🎄🐟
I always enjoy your videos from Lake Arthur. I give you credit for sticking it out, my teeth were chattering just thinking about being out on a day like that. FYI, I came across a map that I forgot I had. It was published in Sept. 1970 through the state. Not only is it a true topo map of Lake Arthur and the surrounding area. It also shows every creek bed and every road bed. I will be spending the off season plotting next years prime locations. Have a Great Holiday Season! Thanks again for sharing your videos.
Great way to end the season, beautiful fish, nice muskie follow up! I liked the music, was expecting some silent movie police to chase you in their kayak, haha, great job!
I have at least one muskie encounter per season, one of these days it's gonna finally happen! The music is from TMNT2:The Arcade Game for NES 🤘, a classic!
Between the south side launch and the 10th st bridge it's a max of maybe 18 feet? By the bridge pilings it's prob 6-8ft or so. The river isn't too bad for fishing, but when it gets busy I just don't want to be there, lol.
(Got me there -- thought for sure another word was coming between "bitty" and "committee" haha.) Great job with the smallies and walleye! Great to see the numbers in local water... a spotted bass even!
It seems you're having some trouble In dealing with these changes. In dealing with these changes. But. I am happy to see that you were able to get down with the thickness.
Don't get many days like that. So you definitely have to enjoy every moment of it. Those were some mighty fine fish! By the looks of the big one it could have been even bigger. Looks like it had an empty stomach
It's certainly pretty! A lot of it was really shallow towards the southern end, I spent a lot of time looking for water that was deeper than 3ft. I think it could be fun to fish, but there is a lot of wide open space to cover to figure out where they are!
I went really early in the season and it was so disappointing I haven't been back. 2 mini dinks in like 9hrs. Maybe Ill get back there in the next month or two!
My Nephew was married 4 years ago at Lake George. When I saw the lake I was speechless! Water clarity is a real eye opener if your used to fishing Western Pa. lakes (Lake Arthur). The drive is some what long but worth it if your fishing multiple days. Too bad yinz guys were not fishing a Rock Bass Tourney. I believe you would have been coming back to the Burg with a trophy.
Oh yeah it is gorgeous, and the drive is pretty serious. I had never fished anywhere close to as clear as this place, you could see down 30ft+ in some places. Those little rock bass tore up my thumbs more than anything else this trip, little buggers. Still love to catch em!
