I have several boats and I am lucky but I’ve been able to own them my smaller boats the 21 footers I use Yamaha outboards and they are fantastic the 33 and 39 our old style with a Vill hull and a covered deck they both board Chevrolet 454 motors between 600 and 700 hp those motors cost around 15 to 18,000. I don’t run them hard and they last me several years mercury has done an amazing job marketing these monster outboards that sell for $50,000, I can’t believe anybody would spend $50,000 on a motor especially when you need three or four the power of 40 foot boat but they’ve been successful doing it. They’ve also taken a lot of people out of the market who can no longer afford to go boating or they just have to stick with their 20 foot boat, and a 250 or 225 Yamaha motor I had a replace one of my Yamaha after 12 years. It cost me $18,000 even that was pretty crazy boating mower is not for the average guy anymore. Can’t afford the gas and certainly can’t afford those big outboard motors, what a shame
All good while being towed. At some point, he has to come off the throttle, and the boat being towed will slide into the back of it. Or let off the throttle gradually until the towed boat starts dragging them both.
At least you got a tow. I'll never tow anyone ever again after I've towed countless people in. I was left to get beached at night on lake Huron. 3 people turned me down while i was on the water , so I left my boat there, walked 2 or 3 miles back to the harbor, got in my truck to get my other boat to tow it back. By the time I got back, a kid with a huge wave runner thought I was nuts for attempting my plan, and he offered to tow me back. By this time, it was dark as hell. Multiple people were threatening to call the Coast Guard. Yeah ,real NICE people out there. All because I slammed down over a wave and blew my ignition fuse. And the dammed thing of it all is I'll more than likely tow someone in again in the future.
