My name is Mike Boyd and a while ago I made a video documenting my process of learning a new skill in a really short amount of time. That idea seemed to resonate with people, so I decided to learn a bunch of other skills. Every month I pick a new challenge and try to conquer it as quickly as possible. Hopefully this content inspires you to learn something new too. Leave a comment telling me what you think and let me know if you have a suggestion for a new challenge. Enjoy the videos! :)
17:08 vs 19:10 -- CNS exhaustion (prior) in a nutshell. you _need_ rest and recovery to realize gains and I can't believe how many people I have to explain that to day-to-day
It freaks me out every time I see someone do alternate grip doing Deadlifts - Seen so many people tear their biceps because of it - usually also because of bad form and they don't know how to properly do it, but still makes the hair on the back of my neck rise.
You don’t need the butter churned. Just stick the cream in the jar and shake it. Keep shaking until it turns into butter. At least that works for liquid cream. I have never tried this paste cream.
So Mike, I’m a ski instructor and what I’ll say is that the safety equipment is the MOST important thing. If you’re planning on continuing with the sport proper fitted boots are the best investment you can make and can keep from fractured tibias. I’m guessing she had space in her boots that when she fell didn’t allow the full force of the fall to go into her bindings allowing them to properly release. The rental shops often don’t properly fit even within their restrictions and they have basically no choices and you also don’t know how boots should fit. Thanks for reading.
The thing is that you don't learn how to balance a bicycle at low speeds consciously. If you had to actually think about it your reactions would be too slow. Most people couldn't explain how they control a bicycle at low and then higher speeds. I learned how to counter steer a motorcycle consciously to be able to turn effectively at speed. It eventually became a motor reflex, like the low speed balancing that I learned as a child on my first bicycle.
I have no idea what fitness background this guy has, but the pull-up is disproportionally impressive! I’m surprised at the amount of struggle to lift those numbers on bench and deadlift.
it's completely normal to have messed up shins from deadlifts, you want the barbell to scrape up your legs to make the bar path as effective as possible. If the weight gets out in front it's a lot harder. IPF style thick knee socks work, or if you have knee sleeves just pull them down to cover the shins. I'm drop the shoes too if you're allowed to go with socks only in the gym, feels a lot better for deadlifts then weightlifting shoes or especially trainers.
So could someone explain to me how the belaying here works? I understand how to works when one guy is still on the ground but who and how are they belaying Mike when he's climbing below them, is beat standing on the next cliff up just gonna hold on for dear life if Mike falls? Would really like to know thanks.
Pete is standing above and is anchored to the wall using cams. The belay device is connected to the wall also and as I come up he pulls in the slack. If I fell, my weight would be on the anchor (not on Pete). This setup is called “guide mode”. Thanks for asking 🙏
Ngl this video is luring me in to try this... I've been sort of doing this (slowly increasing each week) with my regular exercises anyway, and I'm the exact same staring weight as you.
Also a lot of people talk out of their arse, dont act like you know things if you "played before", learn a bit of statistics and odds or dont waste you money (imo)
I love the video man ,its what actually made start to count card and being interested in AdvantagePlay. Im doing it for a while now and its not easy but its an honest job against the evil casino
i can see the logic between comparing squat to deadlift, but they are very very different. squat brings in more of the quads. deadlift is all back and posterior chain. bloody shins during deadlift is not uncommon. and you don't have to do alternate grip for deadlift, just makes it so the bar isn't trying to roll off your fingers. overall though its bloody impressive to go from not training to making all those lifts in less than 2 months. well done.
