Documenting County Durham and the North of England, as tomorrow is often far too late. "Perhaps's, 'Culturally Significant Films', of the future.?"

Gray's simply ceased trading in the late 1980's, they sold the land off for housing, I think it simply came to natural end, with the competition from supermarkets etc.
Not much changed at Chester le Street. Had an Aunt lived at Birtley, just down the road northwards. She and her husband Ruben manager and manageress oh William IV Hotel then Travellers Rest. Now the swimming pool site. Nice shot of the High level Bridge from Gateshead side
I bought some off of him when I was at Appleby Fair. I so admire the skill in making pegs and flowers out of wood. I've tried and it ain't so easy as it looks!
Thanks for the sub! Pleased that you enjoyed watching, its on my doorstep really around 43 miles away, but its amazing how many people around me haven't ever been and its a genuine spectacle to see!
What a great work this movie is! I have been there years ago and I enjoyed it so much. I met a lot of lovely people there and learned a lot. Thank you for uploading!
If you love Gypsy Wagons then enter the world of Yorkie Greenwood Of Northumberland England Builder and painter of Gypsy Wagons most amazing skills of art work
We lived in West Cornforth just outside of Spennymoor back in the 1960's. And my Brother and me were just talking about how few flavoured soft drinks are left today. Ice cream Soda, Dandelion & Burdock, Limeade, Orangeade, Cherryade. And Grays made them all and were the best tasting drinks, and delivered to your door.
Thanks for your interest, I haven't a clue now, the Shazam result rings a bell though? At the time I was RU-vid tracks, due to copyright issues with Sony Vegas loops etc..
@@ghanditwCorrect, people today panic and don't know how to drive in a 1cm of slush. Never mind a foot or two of snow back in the day.. I don't mind the snow this time of the year as it brightens things up and shortens the winter for me this side of Christmas.😊
The Portsmouth Stallions are Peter Ash Gypsy Cobs. That’s my uncle Peter holding them, along with my brother Jake 💙 He’s hand reared his horses. His linage is all over the globe now. Thank you for making this video, you’ve caputured pure beauty 💙💙
Thanks a compliment for a change, instead of telling me how I should have made it, usually from someone who has never attempted to upload a video to RU-vid. Lol!
Petwise has been closed for years. The same shop sign still remains. Recently the famous bakery had to close. Sad times for the small independent businesses.
What a beautifully haunting video. I love everything about it. The music and words are just perfect. I stumbled upon it trying to learn more about this part of the world. I’m visiting next month to learn more about my ancestors. Some of what I’ve seen online looks positively terrifying but there is beauty everywhere if you look hard enough and you have captured it perfectly. Thanks for posting this 😊
Thank you for the best comment ever on this channel. The pigeon lofts always intrigued me and drew me into the common, I researched it on the internet and found out so much more. I have at least one other video "The horse of Cockfield Fell! if you search my channel it will show up. Thanks once again you are a star!
Glad that you are back no matter how short the video. Forget the music, it's old hat now, most people now prefer films without background music. Even the B.B.C. overdo the background music.
Thanks for the kind words Brad, I'm trying to motivate myself, I have all new gear now included a drone, but little interest in the platform now. I shall try though..
My video, I do what I want, the day that you upload a video then you can complain. It was necessary for me, to learn the editing skills that I wanted. Life is hard, even when someone shares something with you, for free?!
Can't believe i'm only finding out about this now, i only knew of the Ashbourne one. Couple of things that suprises me, people with pushchairs and kids being near/partaking in this, if i was local i share as held wouldn't be waiting at the bus stop with kids or walking anywhere near the play zones like some of these are. Suprised 6:04 didn't end up with afters.
I've known about Sedgefield Ball Game all of my life and only visited once, when I was fifty years of age and this is the resulting video. Like you say, life simply goes on as the game is played, it is mind boggling to the casual observer, but it is somehow managed and controlled, and the vast majority do seem to have a great time! There is another ball game held on Shrove Tuesday on the grounds of Alnwick Castle in Northumberland, if it is of interest to you.
