Bits of me, clips of things, radio shows and stuff I think should be shared. Very infrequent uploads now as I got sick of being hit with unwarranted copyright hits and strikes. Regards
These men were actually boys. So young yet so brave. Living conditions at the Air bases were cold and uncomfortable, food was rubbish. They saw their friends blown out the sky but kept on flying night after night. Massive respect.
I do wonder the same myself… reminds me of The Goodies never being repeated up until very recently. That was rumoured to be because someone right at the top hated it and wouldn’t allow it to be re-run *sigh * Regards
8:52 fyi, this station is called Medi 1! the host says something along the lines of "[...] dear listeners (well, not the exact translation but close), on the waves of Medi 1 Radio, my guest is an artist that [...]"
Amazing show thank you for uploading. Such a big part of my live at different times . During the coronavirus crazy protocols I thought about this program every day .
Where is the real-time version of Deighton's "Bomber" that Radio 4 broadcast at some point in 1999 or thereabouts? One of ythe most terrifying things I think I've ever heard.
Yes, I’ve listened to that myself and enjoyed it each time. I think I ripped mp3s from library audio tapes once upon a time, so I’ll see if I can find them when I get a chance. Regards
Just checked; Essex libraries still have two copies of the audio book version for example…look for ISBN 9780857356543 or 9780563523550. Hope that helps
I remember watching this originally on tv sometime around the late 90s 98/99 I think and had me in tears. Can't believe u have this interview not seen it again until now all these years later. Nice one 👍
Every child in the land should have this played to them. Listening to these heroes who died for our freedoms. I feel utterly ashamed of our politicians and their police henchmen who have allowed Britain to be invaded by those who hate us where Adolf failed.
Oh dear , not the sharpest knife. In your post you stated that Britain has been invaded. So my question to you is who has invaded us ? Do try and keep up officer Dibble @@Dibley8899
Viz has moulded me as a person since ive been 8 years old. I had the dandy...beano...topper...etc then discovered viz. Probably like discovering heroin after loving dr.pepper for years. If any of the artists of viz every read this... just like to say thanks a lot man! Also being a cartoonist since the age of 5....your drawings are the BEST. i love you viz ❤❤❤❤
Yes same here… I have very fond memories of getting the train back from Liverpool Street to Romford, and literally having to bite my lip to stop laughing as I read it (that was when trains were pretty silent with no WiFi or mobile devices). I remember a reader’s letter that said “Who says you can’t teach an old dog new tricks? My wife is 89, ugly as an old boot, but only yesterday I taught her how to light her own farts”. I was literally crying with laughter. Regards
Bless you for making this available. I can remember sitting through this when it was broadcast. magic! How typical of the BBC not to make this available for everyone to hear. So much for BBC Sounds app!! They do some brilliant stuff but are useless at archiving and sharing.
Yep. Agree 100%. It’s even more frustrating when trying to share radio shows and RU-vid gives you copyright strikes. Mainly the reason I stopped uploading stuff. Glad you were able to re-listen. Thanks for the comments. Regards
Never noticed before- Do you think the BEST bit in the German national anthem when it freezes and splits into two could be a comment on the division of Germany post war??
According to background noise, it sounds like the whole thing was recorded in a studio with some additional background airplane noise. The Lancaster engines were so loud audio recording wouldn't be possible.
Surely he can't be Sirius. All jokes aside, he was a genius. I wish people would get used to the idea. The problem I think is that we haven't caught up with the sensibility of our own time, it's too painful.
There’s a spike Milligan quote something along the lines of “With the future uncertain, and the present so traumatic, is that why we all wish to go back to the past?”, or something like that. Regards
Timeslip, Ace of Wands, Freewheelers, The Tomorrow People, Catweazle, Escape into Night, The Jensen Code, COTS....I was young enough to watch them all and be amazed by the writing, the stories etc. I recently bought the COTS soundtrack LP because of that fab eerie music, that I've never forgotten (and having the DVD to assist me!) and loud, it's still good today. I even went down to Avebury to see the stones for myself....Loved it :) Gareth Thomas (RIP) signed my COTS DVD sleeve at a Blakes 7 day, and we talked about COTS and he was delighted that COTS had been remembered and believed the story held its own (even if the clothes and hair were out dated! - His own words to me). I often wondered what ever happened to the painting 'Quad non est'???
Thanks for the comment. One day I hope to go to Avebury myself. A lot of those titles are well-written up by @scarredforlife on Twitter in their two volumes of books currently available: vol 1: the 70’s and vol 2: the 80’s. Well worth buying. Regards
