Twin Oaks Treasures is a channel about scroll saw woodworking. We are retired and living on two acres in East Texas with two huge oak trees dominating the front acre. We have been involved in many crafts such as soap making, jewelry making candle making and various types of scroll saw fretwork. Our wares have been sold at flea markets and to friends and given away as gifts. We also do basic carpentry and woodworking as well as homesteading activities such as gardening and food preservation, chickens, ducks and geese, pen and fence building, animal housing etc, all done as economical and frugal as we can. Being retired and isolated due to covid, and being introverts, I decided to start this channel to reconnect to the world. I am starting by sharing my experience with the scroll saw. Other subjects will be covered later.
Very nice ,, do you take suggestions on things to make ❓❓if I would like to see a pattern for a flip open pen box for one pen and one sor single pen or pencil please ,,,, thanks in advance prayers for you and your family ‼️‼️🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏
That was some amazingly accurate scroll sawing. Maybe not the most difficult pattern, but you stayed on the lines of the pattern and did not waver once. Very impressive.
Great job Tom, I have 1 of my pattern books that is nothing but Fret patterns I think there are 4-6 Fret clocks plus corner shelves, jewelry boxes with layers of Fret, BTW I sent you a LG envelope with some patterns, I hope they are to your liking Tom 👍🙂
I'll be honest and say I liked your videos more before you started adding the background music. I know people have different taste, but I find it distracting
As always another great video. I do have a question for you, in Dianne Thompson book on making box’s, on a compound cut of the knobs which do you cut first, the front view or the top view thank you.
Thank you. On compound cuts I always try to determine if one side is more difficult to cut than the other. That can be a lot of factors usually the thickness and type of material and how complex the pattern is. I try to cut the side that is less difficult first so that the second cut has a little less material to cut through. Sometimes you can possibly remove some of the waste from the first cut if it will hold together properly. Usually though on the knobs in that book I cut the front view if it is a fairly simple cut. No real reason, that is just where I start. Sometimes I do things a certain way and don't analyze it until someone asks about it. Just a feel I guess. But questions make me think about why I do what I do and I think that makes me a little bit better. Thanks.
Great looking wood jar. Hope you didn't have much damage from the hurricane. Sorry about your brother My wife has dementia also and it is difficult for everyone
Thank you, not any heavy damage. Sorry to hear about your wife. my mom, an aunt and an uncle... both mom's siblings...had dementia. I saw this coming in my brother five years ago. But it is even closer when it is your spouse. My heart goes out to you, and her.
I will experiment with that. I am Texan as is my dad and mom but I have a family trail that starts in Virginia and crosses the south to Arkansas and Texas. I have roots in each state, I consider each of them a part of my heritage and have thought about doing something for each state.
