Hello everyone! I’m Ben and this is my channel where I show you my hobby of painting Warhammer, D&D miniatures and more. I also enjoy playing games with them and having a good time.
On this channel, you’ll see me paint miniatures of different kinds and techniques, play games with them in awesome scenarios, try new products and tools, and do some (hopefully) amazing and creative projects.
My goal is to encourage you to collect, paint and play with miniatures. And to make you laugh with me (even if I’m not the best painter ever). I am aiming for a minimum of one video a month but hope to be able to provide a decent quality video every 2 weeks.
So if you’re into miniature painting and gaming, subscribe to my channel and let’s go on this amazing journey together! 😁
Finished up the rest of the CP box recently, i have been thinking that converting some Ad Mech rider mounts would be cool, but still planning it out 😀 If you have any suggestions, let me know :) Bw Ben
Oh Cadia Our home and native world True faithful love In all of us command With glowing hearts we see the shine The great bastion, strong and free From far and wide, o Cadia We stand on guard for thee Emperor keep our world Glorious and free For the Imperium of Man, we stand on guard for thee For the Emperor, we stand on guard for thee!
I prime black, base coat it dark red. Then I overbrush/heavy drybrush with a regular red and finally do a light dry drybrush with orange. I used to paint thin lines of each colour instead of drybrushing, but that one termagant took 3 hours... Now I drybrush lol
Sounds good and makes sense on the dry brushing, with a hoard army like nids time per model is important haha. I bet the look great :) - let me know how the skin works out for you 😀 Bw Ben
Im so happy I got out of the hobby before grimdark got turned into this soft handed namby pamby powerpuff girls hello kitty my little pony bullshit... Going mainstream was the absolute WORST thing to happen to Warhammer IPs in the entire history of GW. You want froo-froo fairywinkle fuckery, theres environments and places for that demographic, and WH was never meant to be that place... Shoulda held the gates when we still could. This shit REALLY drove the quote home: "The rewards of tolerance are treachery and betrayal"... If you told me 10 years ago, this was what Warhammer was gonna be reduced to, Id have straight up laughed at you, seen it as the rantings of mentally ill crackpots, and wouldnt have believed it. NOW? I just wish the entire IP and GW itself had died with dignity years ago before mainstream and social media turned it into the fkkn GONG SHOW it is now.
A veiw for sure. Though I don't think gatekeeping the hobby to prevent the change to the mainstream would have helped. So for me I have been in the hobby since the early 2000s, yes not the days of old, old hammer but still when the hobby was less popular (before it was cool to be into things like DnD and WH) This video was a fun project to see what I could do using external inspiration. It also has the benefit of bringing people in to see what it's all about. Essentially, I looked at the kit and thought that it was a fun, easy conversion. I don't think I recommended making a powerpuff girls faction in the game (and would probably be against it as an idea), but I see one of the main pros of the hobby as the ability to do anything once you have the kit in front of you, if I wanted to artificially limit myself i could play pc games etc. Ending off with, I understand your point and concern. If you don't want to do a similar project, then don't, and other people's projects shouldn't affect you. I responded to this in long form as at the end of the video I did as for veiws on the ip mix, so assume you watched the whole video, and that prompted the comment. Is it just the nature of the powerpuff girls or the ip Smash theme(e.g, have you seen the Mario one, and do you have the same concerns) Hope the day goes well Bw Ben
@@TheMiniPaintingPage I DO have similar concerns ... Not with the general idea of IP crossovers necessarily, as that can 100% lead to awesome results... when the joined IPs are handled with a certain amount of respect, and actually fit each other.... Like the other day I saw a post somewhere where someone remodelled a gundam model to be wearing a frilly pink anime maid dress, and its like "but fkkn why? What does that do to enrich EITHER IP?" TBH I couldnt care less for Gundam, but I STILL immediately acknowledged just how cringe that crap must be for true and avid Gundam fans. IP crossovers that actually work tend to have SOME kind of through-line or common theme, and it seems like these days people will just shoehorn any old thing into any other thing, almost for the sake of how much it clashes with itself. Its like mixing orange juice and milk, pissing off both milk lovers AND orange juice lovers, and pretending you dont know what you did to set people off... Personally I feel like people fk around too much like that these days and it may not seem like it in the moment as one commits to the next abomination, but it cheapens the experience for all the people that never asked for orange juice-milk...
Fair, I have mixed views on it. I naturally can't speak to the gundam bit as I have not seen it, but i can imagine what you mean. I can see why bits like that annoy people, but at the same point, there are people who do like the idea as well. The joy being people can choose - in your example with OJmilk, I see it as less of an issue as it's essentially someone else drinking OJmilk. Providing it does not replace either of the original. There's then a choice of OJ, milk, and OJmilk. I can only speak for myself, but I saw the kit and my brain just went to - this reminds me of PPG (basically one main two supports, flying, etc) from there I decided it would be fun to see how a project came out. As I have chosen to have a channel, I naturally filmed the process. On a general level it seems well received, besides the project popping to mind I also thought that this would possibly bring people who are not aware / seeking warhammer (or miniature hobby as a whole) to become aware of the miniature hobby as a whole. I am generally on the side of the more people in the hobby, the better. I see a difference in a company handling its own IP in a way that disrespects fan base, essentially mocking the people that made them, etc. But individuals have the license to do whatever, and others can engage or not as they please. In regards to the some relationships between IP and this project, I have mentioned above what sparked the idea and beyond that there are other similarities, such as fighting "enemies" many in the form of mutants from the 40k veiw. I guess it depends on how closely the relationship needs to be. From your side, what IPs (if any) might be suitable to adapt in this way? I would be happy to consider trying a suggestion if able (though I appreciate that may fuel the problem you see) Thanks for taking the time to reply Bw Ben
hi, I am Canadian, and as such I served in the Canadian Armed Forces. During my time in I was acquainted with a Canadian Armoured Regiment known as the Royal Canadian Dragoons. When I joined the 40k hobby it was a natural choice to build an Imperial Guard army, and from there it was a short leap to create my army into an armoured regiment known as "the Royal Cadian Dragoons"
I have been thinking about that as a future option, but not thought of using those models. I was thinking one of the old Mars Attacks miniature platic helmets would work for part of it aswell, but that is a fairly costly way to make a hat for him haha 😄 Bw and hope all is well Ben
Cheers ... If you have any other IP suggestions i would love to hear them. Bw Ben P.s - This got held for review for some reason and i did not see, hence the random 4 day delay - Bw
I did include a troop of rough riders with my Royal Cadian Dragoons however I did the horses in camo coverings but with suitable pennants and guidons on their lances, this being done at a time when the only roughrider figures available were Tallairn , or Attillan , not sure which is correct (2nd edition)
If you were interested in pushing these models to the next level, I would love to see an attempt at a long grass prairie base rather then a more normal alien jungle. It would give them a base that fits the theme and is really unique.
Thanks for the suggestion :) I wasn't sure on the base, I went for a ruined city vibe, though the advantage of the way I built is I can pop them off the base. I will add it to the list and see if I can come up with something suitable 😀 as swapping them over is always possible 😉 Bw Ben
This is great! I love home made kitbashes! My guard army are all cowboys and I have about 4000 points of them, custom cowboy heads on the infantry and wagon wheels to replace tracks on tanks help a lot.
Hey Hope you are well :) I chose to put in a video of the finished models at the end, around 17:40, to show off the outcome. However, I will take note that onboard photos may be preferred. I also post h9gher quality photos ofmprojects on my community tab from time to time, I can look to pin a comment when the community posts are out. Thanks for the feedback Bw Ben
In the grim dark future, there are only overdue invoices :) This is such a great idea, and the result was terrific. The base was excellent! I love this type of creativity. Princess Peach the Sister of Battle, Yoshi the Kroot, Waluigi of the Emperors Children... there is a lot of fun to be had here.
I'm glad you like it. It was a lot of fun to put together. Agree on the wide scope just in the Mario world, let alone other IPs ahha (what's your thoughts on other IPs 😉) I may end up nabbing some suggestions , having a small band of these would be cool 😎 Bw Ben
I like the weird emphasis placed on the Astra Militarum being 'MOSTLY human' in the opening lines of this video. As if to imply that Canadians are not human.
Haha 😄 🤣 I never even thought about it that way. I had more been thinking the ratlins and ogryns. I can not help the inference 😀 Bw and hope all is well
Hey That sounds awesome, I cannot say I am really the best person but always happy to look over. I can then come back if its something I have capability and capacity to playtest. What is the game about ?
@@TheMiniPaintingPage My game is called Tempest, and is set in an undescribed time on earth where storms cause armies across different times and settings to collide. (Basically an excuse to use any minis) I'm currently playtesting it with my friends, but want some more feedback from other wargamers. I'm putting together a brief rule page that will hopefully be ready in a day or so.
Thanks for the feedback. It's on the books and changing "Scene" in Novemeber, but will bare this in mind and look to sort for the mean while :) Thanks again 😀
@TheMiniPaintingPage Oooo I've always wanted to do a platoon of Tanith or Highlanders. I've got some stls of kilts but I've just never got round to it.
That sounds great, I don't have a kit of them around, but I will need to keep an eye out for them, as I may nab that idea 😀 I might not be able to do it justice, but it does sound like a fun project 😄 Bw
@TheMiniPaintingPage There's so many guard projects I want to do but so little time xD. I've bought a million stls that I might never get round to using
Ahh I still have yet to take the plunge into 3d printing at home, feel like that's a whole seperate ballgame and expense haha However totally agree on the time side :) I have been on a bit of an "inspired conversions" hype at the moment 😀 Bw
Weird fact: In WWI, the Canadian Corps were noted to be unusually ruthless, brutal, and aggressive. No one has been able to tell why definitively, and the Germans viewed them as unpredictable savages. They were especially notable as trench raiders, and were even called Shocktroopers sometimes. So like. Fear the Canadians I guess.
no no, this is a misrepresentation of the reputation the Canadians earned at the Battle of Vimy Ridge. the Canadian forces basically shattered the German Empire forces and were the main reason the Geneva Convention was called later. the amount of things that became war crimes from that battle is astounding, all that and they did it in 4 days. The Canadians still own Vimy Ridge and it is one of the only foreign posts the Canadians maintain to this day. you can check out more on Wikipedia about the Battle of Vimy Ridge. that's why Canadians developed a reputation for being scary.
Hey So oddly I touch on that in a little more detail in the video I am editing at the moment (for the command squad) In brief as to not spoil the next in series, I went for black for colour ratio and scheme balance when it it comes to other models in the army. I was hoping someone would notice as I cut the reference from this video as it was a bit lengthy :) Hope the weekend is going well 😀
