Flab Dad to Bad Ass Dad is a channel that is tired of all the BS in the world. Everyone has an angle a story or a sales pitch. Many of us are in serious need to lose weight yet it seems impossible. I am going to share my weight loss journey with you and bring you along to becoming a Bad ASS DAD. I want to truly help people in life I want to find what truly works and share it with the world. Reality is, with so much miss information it is hard. I will cover things from health, weight loss, addictions, lies in marketing, This may offend many but will help others to see.
I have a few Barefoot boots now. I think I was talking about the Bearfoot Bruin. And i have a video up on them. I also have a Pair From Jim Green barefoot African Ranger. Those are pretty good.
Much needed video, thanks. I'm quite overweight and have been transitioning to barefoot shoes. I wear Whitins, Altra, forgot what else, when I'm not wearing my Kiziks (lots of cushion). But I'm going to Disneyland soon and not sure what to wear so I don't want to die by noon. Any suggestions?
For Tennis shoes I have a pair of Lems that are pretty good. But for me my most all day comfort is my Jim Green African Ranger barefoot boot. They don't try and roll out the sides like I have issues with. and the Soles ave some decent give and flexibility. But for Disneyland I would like to know I could wear the same shoe all day on concrete for at least 3 days straight. There is a ton of walking to do.
hey man, just subscribed, im almost in the same position as you are in right now. lets get this done! a little advice, avoid fasting! the weight will come right back up in no time! deficit is always the key, cheers mate
Activate those legs. Check out Joel Naukkarinen. He's a doctor, a scientist, and a multiple record holder with all this. Regardless, you're golden. Keep it up! 👊
This just came to me via the algorithm- as a fellow flab dad that wants to be there for my kids (and one day grandkids), I am also starting the mission. Looking forward to following your journey!!
I don’t know why RU-vid recommended me this but seeing someone like yourself talk so openly and candidly about your struggles with your weight and how it affects your movement is very inspiring. I am what you would say is average weight but I was very unfit and had a tummy. If someone that has so much working against you can be so motivated I have no fricking excuses. Keep going man!!! Only good things to come
Following brother. Looks like you are attacking your diet and fitness which will definitely get you to your goal. I assume you would have some joint pain like i have when trying to get in shape. I would just mention the knees over toes guy. He has some great exercises to help with flexibility and to alleviate joint pain over time. All free stuff. It's really helped me. Props to ya and I wish you the best in your journey
LOL I have some videos on here with my Knees over toes exercise. It is some great stuff. Thank you I greatly appreciate your support and encouragement.
@@FlabDAD Too big according to me, a healthy European. I have never eaten such a full plate. You're overweight because you eat too much. Weight loss begins in the kitchen, not the gym. To lose weight permanently, you need to permanently change how you think. Right now you think that is a good portion size, because you grew up in a society where everyone eats too much. I am telling you that it is too much, so take my advice and incorporate it into your thinking permanently. On the paper plate question - it's a sign of laziness, always seeking the easy way out. "I don't have to wash a plate afterwards". This attitude will bleed into the rest of your habits. If you want to be a 'bad ass' dad then start acting like one in every aspect of your life, every small change will plant a seed that causes more changes.
Sir, stay strong and continue to climb this mountain and you'll soon be to the top. You are an inspiration. God bless you. We need more men to step up to taking responsibility for their role as head of their family.
Thank you I greatly appreciate your support and encouragement. Yes many guys now never have a good father to learn from. Figuring out on you own how to be a good dad can be a real challenge.
Great effort. I've been rowing for years, and still have to revisit technique every now and then. For a big guy, I think you did a great job. The hip pivot is always going to be difficult, but the more you can engage your core, the more you won't collapse in at the catch, you'll be able to drive harder, and protect your back. (All advice I ignore when I get tired). 😮😅.
Amazing to see you use the pick drill in such a focussed way. It's a great set of drills for working on the motion of your body - and the way you then ran wit hit for 15 minutes is a super way to help get you through a workout and hit your cardio. Good heavy breathing by the end! Always pay attention to how your body is reacting though. When you said about hitting 240/250 with A-fib, that really sparked my concern! I'm happy to help any time - thanks for the link.
Thank you. The pick drill really helped me get into a rhythm and I could tell a bit quicker when things weren't as smooth as I could be. FYI my HR was up to 150. Ya when in AFib it can get really crazy and can really get an ER team excited. Hopefully that is all behind me now. I found HIIT over 25 years ago and fell in love with it. Even unconsciously I find myself falling into a HIIT rhythm when I start pushing hard. Thank you so much for all the support you are awesome! And I hope you have an amazing day!
Thank you for your support and comments it helps push me as well. I do hope that I can help and inspire others I know how bad we can be at ourselves up and end up in the wrong direction fast. I hope you have a fantastic day!
I would so love to go swimming. I wish there was a local place through the winter that did not charge a fortune. But during the Summer we take the girls to a few local lakes that have swimming it is an amazing exercise especially the walk across 50 yards of sand after playing in the water for an hour. That gets me huffing and puffing. LOL Thank you for taking the time to watch and comment. I greatly appreciate it.
sure, but I will make a point about swimming without trying to be a smart alec. Although it is great for exercise It is not a good exercise for losing fat if that is the aim, in fact it will handicap fat loss.
Turn to Jesus He loves you, He is the healer of the body And savior of the soul, There is True Hope in Jesus, God protects Psalms 91, He is the God of miracles Acts 2:21 And everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved Jesus alone saves Trust Him with your salvation John 3:16 1 Corinthians 15 1-4 Moreover Brethren, i declare unto you the gospel which i preached unto you, which also ye have received, and with wherein ye stand By which also ye are saved, if you keep in memory what i preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain, For i delivered unto you first of all that which i also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures And that He was buried, and that He rose again the third day according to the scriptures, Take care
I think you doing well here, you are not making the mistake of pushing yourself too hard which leads to injuries. As you probably are aware weight loss is 95 percent about diet. Your motivation is inspiring, Im enjoying your updates and progress.
I am so glad you are enjoying my updates. That is very encouraging. Ya I have pushed myself to hard to many times. I am now just focused on getting my mobility back. Thank you so much for taking the time to watch and comment. Have an amazing day!!!
I ended up returning those and got a really good set Nossk and they are so much better. I have not tried rings I should they are fairly affordable. You can check the nossk ones out here. They are not bad priced either. nossk.ositracker.com/362010/18492
@@FlabDAD While these look better, I will still strongly encourage you to invest in a pair of rings instead irrespective of your age. Anyone can use em and there’s a reason they are still the gold standard when it comes to both callisthenics and gymnastics.
Wow - did that hit home. Got me choked up. That's how i feel about my relationship with my son and wife. My son is my hero, how he throws himself into new challenges, he's fearless. I feel useless and pathetic cos it should be me who is his hero. Thanks for inspiring
Thank you for watching and commenting. I am glad you are getting some inspiration from these Videos. I am right here with you and want to help others conquer this burden we carry every min of every day.
Sweet!!! Thank you so much for your support. I hope to try and get in the habit and time management to do this at least 3 times a week. I think that would be real nice. Your comments and encouragement is so welcomed and inspirational. I hope you have an amazing evening.
Glad to hear you're improving. Don't feel pressured into making content for people. Rest up when you feel the need for the sake of you and your family. People who watch your content will understand
Thank you so much for being fantastically awesome! After almost 4 hrs and a toxic pill 💊 it settled. Some aching on my heart, very tired and now the sun feels like a red hot tattoo gun on my skin but HR was normal this morning and got a reasonable day at work before I was exhausted again. Another good night of sleep will definitely help
Building muscle is a key factor in weight loss! more muscle more fat will burn ,and when you stretch try not to bounce you can pull a muscle that way, just do the stretches come back up and do it over and over again without a bounce! I used to be a trainer and body builder ,so just giving tips here and there if you like!!
I absolutely LOVE tips and help! They are always welcome. I would love to gain 10 plus pounds of muscle. Thank you so much for your input is is greatly appreciated.
People subscribe to this man help motivate him and buddy keep doing what your doing be careful read up on the fasting, and remember walking will help lots with mobility ,and before you know it you will be running let's go !! stay positive for yourself no matter what. Life will turn around for the better!!
Thank you so much for your support and encouragement, I so greatly appreciate it. Family walks and expeditions are starting back up this week. Man I would love to be able to run again. That would be amazing. Thank you again and have an amazing day!!!!
dont fast man. New studies have shown fasting can cause heart problems down the road. Something else that worked for me. Try eating when you're hungry but make it something small and low on calories. Don't need you getting worse man! Good luck dude.
Wish you all the luck in the world. If I were you, I would look in to getting some HMB supplement. It helps you keep as much muscle mass as possible on a calorie deficit. You'll be a unit once you shed the fat. Keep it up!
Lol hopefully between diet, lifestyle and exercise I hope I never have to rely on our medical industry ever again! We are all overpaying for what little and how hard it is to get anything positive out of. FYI I am not talking about our nursing and other staff. Thank you so much for taking the time to watch and comment. I greatly appreciate it. Hope you join along for this journey and give your welcomed feedback as I progress.
Whole real food as much as possible. I try for at least 80% veg, fruit, seed, for meat salmon and bison when I can afford it. I cut all processed food. No food coloring emalsifiers no wheat or sugars. Just as whole and real as possible. Thank you so much for taking the time to comment. I greatly appreciate it.
You're fine for light. Maybe set the tripod higher? AS for the rowing - you're doing great. You might get a few people telling you to row at a lower lever setting, but if you're getting a good workout with it up high, for the time being, I'd keep it there. If you're doing this to lose weight, what you need is calorie burn, which means putting effort in. And if you can put more effort in at a higher lever - do it. When you get better, and can do a longer range of stroke, then you can worry about lowering it. And for footstraps - you don't NEED to be strapped in. Leave 'em loose, just in case you get it wrong, but if you row and don't use the straps, you'll need to use your core at the back of the stroke to stop you falling off the back (which is why you keep the straps loose, just in case!) and that extra core tighten will again be a little more effort, and a few more calories left on the floor. And I need to get me one of them Osmos!!
WOW!!! Thank you so much for the Support and taking the time to leave such great and useful information. I will put it to use. I can not go lower on my setting because 10 even feels too light I try slowing down and pause at the top and the bottom a little because if not there is no resistance. I wish it could go harder. lol Thank you again and I hope you have an amazing day.
@@FlabDAD Yeah, so the way the Concept2 works is that the more power you put in, the heavier the stroke feels. The moment you start pushing harder with the legs, and then pulling harder with the arms, you'll notice the difference. But leave it at 10 right now as you develop the strength and fitness. Once you get stronger and fitter, lower the lever to allow you to push harder (without needing to heave against it). Just remember, the machine is only half the equation - you are the other half.
Thank you so much!!! Ya I find myself getting in my own way sometimes. LOL That is one of the reasons I want to try and make fitness videos because the weight and my size usually has some kind restriction or limitation that I have to best figure out how to work around the extra challenges. Your advice and information truly helps. Tonight I am going to try for a 15 min row. I would like to get to 20 Min twice a day by thanksgiving. Let's GO!!!!
