From our world’s smallest to smelliest, Maya Higa and Connor O’Brien will shock you with the most outrageous stories and adaptations of animals from around the world.
Maya is a wildlife conservationist who founded Alveus Sanctuary, a non-profit exotic animal sanctuary and virtual education center in central Texas. She is also a Twitch streamer whose live streams feature animal care, conservation education, and charity fundraising.
Connor currently works with Maya as the Director of Operations at Alveus Sanctuary, and has spent over 16 years gaining experience at notable organizations including the American Eagle Foundation and the Alaska Wildlife Conservation Center.
Through both humorous banter and engaging education, Maya and Connor will take you on a journey that ends in a love for our natural world.
Just a side note about what Conor was saying about the slug slime, and studying it to use for glue and other items. They are doing something similar with internal vaginal and cervix muscles in people. A lot of the muscles used during childbirth have some of the fastest regrowing/healing properties, as well as elasticity (literally stretching to fit a whole baby through). Just thought it was interesting, that two seemingly organic things can have some properties we want in inorganic or man-made sbustances
Hi guys! They actually do know why sloths poop on the ground! It’s because of the methods they use when pooping to mask their scent. Also, a species of moth lives a symbiotic relationship in the sloths fur, and it lays its eggs in the sloths poop while it is doing a dance and burying it. If the sloth was to poop from the tree limbs above, it would give predators a clear indication of sloth location. They rely on being quiet and slow to avoid being noticed by predators.
love this podcast! I love rewatching all of the episodes when im crafting. I usually dont listen to podcast episodes more than once but ive rewatched every video like 5 times. keep it up guys <3
Cats bury poop to hide their presence from predators, at least that's what I heard. Maybe sloths don't want to signal to the forest floor that they're up there by air dropping a poo
what about world’s most aggressive? im currently studying in japan and we get constant warnings on bear sightings and apparently the asiatic black bear is one of the more aggressive bears so THATS FUN
i would love an episode of "most common" like who can be found all over the world, or most herded etc! there's so much we don't know about the critters we see everyday
My Theory regarding the Blobfish changin color.. I think if he's basically exploding withing himself coming to the surface the color you see is likely that of his guts.. Yikes
this was a fun episode! i really liked how it was formated with the two truths and a lie. i also think the segments per animal were well timed so they weren't too short, and didn't drag on either!!
Wait a minute...so mole rats in Fallout game are basically mutated giant naked mole rats. They look more like naked mole rats and they have a queen from what i saw...
