As someone who teaches 3-5 yr olds, you could most definitely teach a 3 year old how to strike a match and toast a marshmallow. But I don’t think they have the dexterity to do it well or safely 😂

Yea Maya is massively underestimated the intelligence of a 3 year old
@luckygnome2746

@canifer5546

I think we forget how much 3 year olds are learning about the world. They're learning languages and puzzles and how to walk and feed themselves. A lot of being a "Dumb" baby comes down to not having fine motor control yet, so if you have an animal with the same intelligence but more physical capability it's going to look quite different
@kacheekyy
@kacheekyy 8 дней назад
i agree that the dexterity is probably their biggest issue. When i worked with kids watching them hold scissors was always an internal battle of me wanting to just do it for them lol

On the finding Nemo part - it takes 6 months for a male to transform into a female, and 2 years for a clownfish to mature - because Nemo was still very young in the movie, it is very possible it just hasn’t been the full 6 months and marlin had begun to transform but just didn’t finish the transition

Also, humans are animals, so since we have the ability to feel attracted to the same gender that means homosexuality is natural
@cyrylo1452
@cyrylo1452 9 дней назад
The reality is that, sexuality is not something strict in animal kingdom. Intercourse is one of many forms of comunications, hierarchy building or just plesure seeking. Animals do not have a set sexuality like us humans (or at least we as a specie are much more unchanging when it comes to growing out of or into some other sexuality) thus they are not gay or striaght, they are themselvs because an animal dose not care about sexuality because it doesn't matter to them. But must importnant the argument of "it's simple biology" should not be ignored. In animal kingdom there are little to none morality rules. Thus rape, abuse, pedohilia (of instance in Bonobos) are "natural". However in humans those things are not natural, we feel disgust and anger when we hear of the these events. Saying that we should view nature as a set course of action for "natural" behavior of ourselfs is stupid. We are our own specie and we should seek a natural life for us (if we even have one).

Just a side note about what Conor was saying about the slug slime, and studying it to use for glue and other items. They are doing something similar with internal vaginal and cervix muscles in people. A lot of the muscles used during childbirth have some of the fastest regrowing/healing properties, as well as elasticity (literally stretching to fit a whole baby through). Just thought it was interesting, that two seemingly organic things can have some properties we want in inorganic or man-made sbustances

I would just like to say there are many toddlers that can and have lit fires with a match. I work in childcare, and just the other day, a mum called saying she caught one of her kids lighting paper on fire with matches theyre almost 4 (they have a wood fireplace at home, they didnt have to "teach" her how to strike a match kids are very observent). All kids develop differently, and some can really baffle you with their intelligence at such a young age 😂 P.S. when i do lunch cover for the girls in the nursery (0-2yo), there are babys that can tell me what items belong to what baby if I'm not sure. They understand and are always learning 😂 ill say again, do not underestimate their potential intelligence 😂

I also used to underestimate 3yos, but it really just depends on who’s raising the child. Which is a really funny statement to me.😂 But some parents are putting 1yo into swimming lessons, and I recently saw Class Year 1 Arithmetics that take place in Europe+Asia, and those start from 5-6yo. So who knows what they’re teaching them at age 3. (sorry for the info dump)
@helloamtay
@helloamtay 9 дней назад
Yeah she def either thinks of 3 year olds as the same as 1 year olds or she is conflating intelligence and willingness to complete tasks, which I agree most 3 year olds would not sit there and patiently figure out how matches work to start a fire (thank God) but they definitely could easily, especially if they saw someone do it beforehand which I assume the monkeys did

that bonobo didn't "figure" out fire, it learned it from humans lmao. You can easily teach a toddler to start a fire, the problem is more if they are physically capable and it's literally just not fair to compare a baby to an adult in terms of strength and dexterity lmao. that being said everyone should go watch that video Kanzi (the bonobo) is awesome XD
