Mark Buehrle's NO HITTER against the Texas Rangers involves third baseman Joe Crede. Hairston hits the ball down the third base line; Crede fields it and throws to first baseman Konerko to get Hairston OUT. Hairston got ejected after arguing the call. How do you rate this one?
I was at game 5. Everyone there wanted Harvey to come back out in the ninth and when he did the place went absolutely bonkers. Had he done it he would’ve been a God. Years later, I’m OK with the way that turned out because in that moment he was our best and you have to either win or lose with your best if you want to be a champion.
As a former Walmart employee why am i not surprised that as soon as a Walmart executive took over they slashed payroll!?!? As soon as Sam Walton passed away and the kids took over, they did the same thing, stocking those shelves all night long as more involved than most people think, try working in that dairy cooler and sort that truck let alone put up! Sorry, I'm off topic, its been years and it still irritates me.
Honestly looking back at the phillys trades with the angels you can Honestly argue that phillys lost both trades. Mickey Moniak and Logan O'Hoppe are delivering for the Angels and are definitely a big part of that core. The trade for Marsh is one I'm fine saying was a tie as the angels got a desperately needed catcher and philly got a solid outfielder but the moniak trade was 100% a win for the angels and he's a future angels player and Syndergard just didn't deliver.
Character is a part of Hof considerations, so he may be borderline. Tho Hof'er Juan Marichal beat a catcher over the head with a bat, so who really knows.
1.08 with 92 innings pitched. Can't really compare that to Gibson. Gibsons first 11 starts he was 4-5, 97.2 IP with a 1.66 ERA with back to back starts going 12 and 11 innings those starts. He didn't step on the gas until mid season.
RIP Ventura. Loved how that guy played. How can anyone that calls themselves a baseball fan hate this brand of baseball. Nothing more boring that fat men swinging as hard as they can at every pitch hoping to get lucky. Go watch beer league softball if that is your bag.
It’s always weird hearing about Brandon Drury when watching baseball videos because I went to school with him and we played high school ball together. We all knew he was going to be in the big leagues. He was crazy good and dominant all around.
The "Leverage Index" is a joke. PRESSURE IS AN EFFING FEELING! IT'S NOT LIKE WHEN YOUR MOTHER TAKES YOUR TEMPERATURE !!! THERE SHOULD BE A BULLSHIT INDEX! The BS Index of the Leverage Index is 10,10. You can't assign a number to pressure, it's not quantifiable.
I am 71 and have followed baseball since I was a kid. I am biased because I live in Baltimore. And I have my whole life. But for a Catcher,Adley Rutschman, Is the fastest dude I have ever seen
As far as talent among all position players, he is top 5 all time and arguably the best combination of a 5 tool player ever seen in baseball. Henderson could steal more bases but Davis's power was far greater, Bonds could hit more HRs but Davis's defense was on a different level, and Griffey Jr. was almost as good defensively but didn't have the speed Davis did.
And now the Marlins farm system is at the bottom and they are one of the worst teams in the MLB this season. It’s looking like another rebuild is on the horizon
Over the last seven seasons of his 13-year career, Ryan Howard was paid $154 million and had a Wins Above Replacement of MINUS 2.4...meaning that he was less valuable than a player the Phillies could've gotten off the scrap heap. (But he hit 160 HR during that time, so nobody much cared.)
So you know he (his dad Charles) also coined the phrase “With hard work good things will happen.” It’s on the base of his statue at PETCO Park. He was interviewed about 94. And he said he knew he would do it. He was on too much of a roll.
Ummm...I'm pretty sure the Padres just took 2/3 from them. Have taken 3/5 games this year. dodgers definitely feeling blue. Probably bad timing for this video.
The real question is can a player coming from the horror show that is the Angels really make it so they can actually finish the job. Or does Kershaw just have to retire so they can win a real chip
Past 10+ years Dodgers have had great regular season records. But didn’t do well in playoffs as we know. Dynasty means winning multiple WS, at least 3. There’s no guarantee in baseball. As we’ve seen it’s the hottest team that gets to WS, not the best team. I think Dodgers need to win 2 before thinking of dynasty.
Ryan Howard's career declined primarily due to injuries, particularly to his Achilles tendon. He suffered a significant Achilles injury in the 2011 postseason, which impacted his mobility and overall performance. Additionally, as he aged, his production declined, as is common with many professional athletes. Despite his decline in later years, Howard still had an impressive career and is remembered as one of the most dominant power hitters of his era.
