His name is Sean Wainui, a well respected New Zealand rugby union player for the chiefs, a super rugby team and the New Zealand All Blacks. He definitely got high praise all over New Zealand for his skills in the game. All of a sudden in 2021, he had crashed into a tree which fatally killed him. A coroner for his case reckons that it was a suspected suicide, which is even more sad if it is, but I heard all about it three years ago. These guys are performing what is called a Haka, a traditional dance performed at sporting events, when facing opponents in games, birthdays, weddings, funerals etc. Their purpose in performing this haka is to honour a fellow fallen New Zealand individual, to show the respect and love that they have for their culture. Forgive me if this doesn’t sound like a great explanation, I was born n raised in United Kingdom but grew up watching union and league, so I’m just going off information that I know of, and I don’t know the New Zealand culture as well as others. I just know they are a unique culture.
