Sacré Bleu Ryan is angry. He is still seething at Saturday’s result. Having spent the week in Dubai, had his return flight cancelled and arrived for all his work at Murrayfield at the last minute he can’t quite fathom what’s happened.
Unfortunately for Max, Ryan is going through the 6 stages of grief…. He’s done denial but can’t get past anger. Which is funny.
Max meanwhile is the eternal optimist seeing the good in England’s narrow win over Wales (something which irritates Ryan immensely)
Luckily both the boys agree that Ireland are unstoppable and could become the first team to win back to back six nations championships in the history of the 6 team competition.
Also if you want to see the boys, they’ll be recording a live podcast at the Prince of Wales pub in Covent Garden on Tuesday! Ticket proceeds go to charity so come say hi!

Still hurts. Absolutely robbed. Rugby sucks at times. If we do beat England and then Italy, then going into that final weekend having lost the chance of a grand slam weekend will be a sickener. Even though Ireland will still pump us, St Paddy's weekend along with that occasion, oh my, what a sesh 😅

Mark so hell bent on laws and protocol yet clearly doesn’t understand the laws on what is deemed offside. Duhan makes the tackle there is no French nor Scottish player over the tackled player therefore there is no offside line. Remember this was changed from the Italy England game a few years ago where the offside line only existed in a “ruck” (player from either side competing). Now the rules state a single player from either side must be over the tackled player to form the offside line. Because France tried to move it quickly the first French player picked the ball up instead of competing and as Scotland left the ruck there was no competition or player over the ball hence no offside line. Correct decision by nic berry there. Just a shame he lost his bottle in the last minute.

As a Scot, I’m gutted as this feels like it happens so often, but this is one of the more highlighted ones eh? I think the decision is tough but I think the referees are stuck and due to the level of hate at the moment, are more inclined to be very conservative and not take a leap at all, even if it’s really hard like that. I’m more frustrated with the team management of Scotland, and the way we managed the kicking game. Why did we still have players who were walking for the better part of 10mins in the second half exhausted after a lot of graft, and didn’t replace them? Like Sam skinner came on around the 70th min, and George turner, who played well, was so exhausted, why didn’t Ewan Ashman come on? It is so frustrating as I think that bit of energy was needed to get through the gainline, and build pressure. Lots of good with some players playing well, but gosh I think the way the team is run needs some work for sure. Credit to Harry Paterson smashing a late call up debut. I’m at the very least glad that we’re not the only ones seeing it now 😂😮‍💨

If I remember correctly, Mark's better half is a lawyer. Why not get a legal view of the drafting and its application from her. Definitely better than Mark can do... Albeit that's not hard. There is conclusive evidence the ball is on the ground. But maybe there's some legal analysis we are all missing?

Nic Berry is the worse ref. He's been sub par for a few years. No idea how he made the RWC group. Not saying he is a bad human because he seems like a stand up guy. Just referring to the reffing bit.

The ball was clearly grounded behind the French player's arm. If you can't apply basic logical thinking and come to the conclusion that it is a try beyond doubt, you should probably not be a referee in an international sport. And I don't even support Scotland.

When an attacking player grounds the ball in the opposition dead ball area that's a try, simple as. This is a case of the tail wagging the dog.

Hate to burst your bubble Mr Wilson, but Paddy's day is the 17th of March. Ireland play Scotland in the Aviva on the 16th of march. Good show lads, but if yory turning up at the Aviva Ryan on the 17th, you'll have missed Scotland loosing (I hope).

Going to address the elephant in the room. I think Scotland scored the try but and here is the big BUT, the ref called on field "Held Up". The video ref reviewed all the footage and I rewound it and watched it a dozen times. At the end, I could not say with certainty that the ball had been touched down. The ground level camera seems to show that logically it must have been touched down. But, honestly it is only an assumption based on logic. Even if the ball was touching grass, that doesnt mean it was touching the ground. Like I said, I really believe that it was a try, but I could not prove it based on the footage we saw. So, according to the current rules of rugby, the video ref made the correct call.
@notenoughstones3873
@notenoughstones3873 6 месяцев назад
Scotland did in fact make a mistake in that they gave a ref a chance to make a marginal decision. Need to learn to score without any ambiguity. Pick and go and mauls are just asking for a 50/50 decision from the ref and that's the risk you take when you go that route. On the protocol, the correct process was followed so can hardly blame the refs/TMO here. Could Berry have gotten in closer? Sure he could have but he did see the ball on the boot (which it was) so you can't say his call was completely wrong either. This was in all likelihood a try and under the old Try/No Try protocol, this would have been awarded. And I haven't heard any valid reasons for why this was changed as it was working just fine, not perfect but just fine. There was of course the clamouring from many pundits, coaches and fans for on field refs to make the big calls instead of shifting responsibility to the TMO and unfortunately this is the result (law of unintended consequences eh?). I do find it funny though that all of a sudden, the narrative has changed on this again. Ultimately I feel for the referees as they are damned if they do, damned of they don't.

Jeez, Wilson is burning the candle at both ends with that lifestyle. Gotta take it easy, bro. That shit is not healthy! Yeah, I'm also pissed off by the decision at the end of not awarding the try. The ball touched the ground IMO. Here's a question, why go through all the effort to garner sympathy for the referees and match officials with Whistleblowers if that's the stunt they pull in the end? That being said, Scotland should've won this game handily. That French team is pretty shite at the moment.

5 stars as always entertaining. Enjoy these three particularly Wilson and Lahiff. However, we all know you're only Scottish because you were too shite to play for England Wilson. You can drop the faux outrage you aren't convincing us 😁 reckon real time Nic Berry makes the right call, ball is grounded on the foot and then split second later is unsighted. Then not conclusive evidence of grounding. Everyone knows that ball probably touched the ground, but if the shoe was on the other foot Scotland would be happy with that call. Keep up the good work men.
@tomjordan392
@tomjordan392 7 месяцев назад
Ultimately, its done. Decisions go for & against all teams at all points and blaming the refs wont change anything. There was no picture that showed the ball touching the ground, only the top of the ball sliding down. Its a fair statement to suggest that we can make a 99% confident assumption that the ball was grounded, but the protocol is in place to assist with the majority of cases, not the executional ones & if you start bending it and introducing guess work there is no point of it existing. Was it a try? probably & almost definitely, but they followed the protocol and it wasn't given.

BIG MONEY IDEA: Considering that the balls now have micro-chips inside them, surely there is a way to technologically guarantee these decisions now? Some sort of impact-sensing goal-line tech? 💾🏉
