Hello, I know this is an old video, but I just recently moved to Shanghai. I’ve been trying to find more vegan places, I saw you used WeChat to find more places. What are you typing in for searches and which program are you using? My American WeChat is blocked so I only have my Chinese one and I can’t read Chinese at all. Also, if you are still in China, and around Shanghai, I would love to meet up with you if possible.
3:21 Ha, These two girls. According to Instagram, in September 2023, Lou and her friend traveled back to China. They seem to be in chengdu now. Welcome back.
Shanghai, Paris of the orient. FuXin Park. Front Gate was my home, rear gate was my elementary school. I used to buy monthly pass for 0.50 Yuan a month.
Apparently lockdown and COVID policies are easing up now and it finally seems like they’re starting to ditch the extreme Zero-COVID policy, would you ever return back to Shanghai or elsewhere in China in that case? Keep up the good content
From that Great Wall another mile up on the road there is a rock that belongs to Dprk so you could have taken a picture with your feet in N Korea, and is a pity you don’t drive(I’ve passed my driving license in China) Up north from that wall there is a place where you can rent a big boat and go around up the river and buy from North Koreans things:) I know very well that place ,in the hotel that you’ve been (I’ve recognised the small buildings between the hotel and the river).. Emily got pregnant (I’m talking from her account) …. Many things changed from 2014….. I miss China and especially Dandong Many memories. We used to live in Shenyang for a few years.
And I'm moving to Canada next month after 5 years in Shanghai. This has been a great experience with lots of interesting people and unique places. But the lockdown and the covid policy screwed everything up.... Good luck, thanks for sharing.
hello I am a certified English teacher have a 300 hours TEFL diploma level 5 from ( i-to-i) 180 hours of teaching adults and young learners - 60 hours of teaching business English - 60 hours of teaching one on one and online i was in shanghai 4 years ago and i want to go back there to work as an English teacher I am in my third year in my bachelor degree and i want to go back there i am not a native speaker what is the salary should i expect and if you have any advice
Accidentally found your channel, can you tell me how many percentage of people you have come across, who can speak fluent English during your stay in China? By the way, love your London accent, shame students there can’t learn the standard English.
Even if Zero-Covid policies are lifted, it still won't be safe to return. This kind of treatment, which could be described as pre-Holocaust, is simply coming from an abusive government. Covid only provided the specific circumstances needed for an excuse to treat people this way. Something like this, or worse, is almost certain to happen again, and you may not be able to get out the next time. Please do not go back. Live and travel in places where you are safe and treated well.
Nice video, glad you made it. I'm actually moving into Shanghai soon lol. I saw that you've lived in the FFC. I've heard good things about the area but was wondering what were some cons of living there aside from the higher rent, like was it noisy, old apartment infrastructure, etc? And out of the districts you've lived in, which one was your favorite?
FFC is a nice area for restaurants, cafes and general vibes! Gives you a taste of Europe but lane houses do come with some downfalls. Saying that, some have been recently converted and people like the quirk of them. There are a few high-rises but they are on the preliminaries of the FFC. Rent is usually the same for both types, it all comes down to size = price. Choosing an area to live is hard, depends what you prioritise; commute time, foreigner friendly, facilitates etc. As long as you stay within the ring metro line you will be situated 'downtown' and have more conveniences. Most foreigners stick to FFC, Jing'an and Zhongshan Park. Let me know if I've missed anything.
@@LouAimeeinChina Thanks for the reply, this was helpful. I'm going to be working in the high tech park area, and I saw y'all lived in Lujiazui. How did you like it there?
How i can apply for this kindergarten position. Who is in charge of recruiting Esl teachers for this kindergarten? I'm interested and currently in china. Please let me know. I'll appreciate that
For most kindergarten positions you need to be a native speaker. The best way to find position is ask in WeChat groups specific to the city you live in. Most people will send recruiters your way.
@@LouAimeeinChina yes. I'm native english teacher from UK. Have all the documents ready to transfer visa. One recruiter scammed me a month ago so i don't trust them anymore. Can you please share the wechat id or email of the school HR where i can submit my resume and introduction video directly to apply for this kindergarten position. Thank You
Going back to China would be a very silly move considering their actions over the last few years. They are traveling in wrong direction not only for foreigners but also for themselves. I spent 11 years there and got out 2020 as I could see this happening and had been ramping up over the last 4 or 5 years I was there. I vow never to return and wish the Chinese people the best of luck. The risk of arbitrary detention is high and is only getting worse.
