Uh, why don’t you show anything regarding removing the broken bolt. There’s more to the story than buy a special bit and then seeing the empty hole. My imagination is unable to fill in the missing in the missing detail.
The special bit allowed me to drill out the center without destroying the threads. Then used a tap to clean out any metal fragments. It's been a few years so I don't remember all the details anymore sorry.
This is actually a good idea.. low budget.. high availability an it works! Thank you for sharing.. and please keep on brainstorming.. we (the society) need people like you!
I cut blocks out of 2" thick rigid styrofoam insulation, installed the chute, pushed the block all the way to the edge of the top plate & spray foamed the assembly in place. A lot of crawling around, used 18" wide x 70" long pieces of heavy plywood to crawl on. Slid them around & moved from one to the other. Pushed the existing blown in back in along the edges 24" deep, covered the rest of the attic with R38 batts, installed radiant barrier running from the bottom truss joint up to the ridge vent. Sealed every hole with spray foam. Never been so glad to be done with a DYI project in my life.
I broke my leg later that night and have not made any more progress. I'm out of the cast now and will be back on the project soon. Thank you for the comment.
Thank you for posting; I watched both video. Any updates on the project? How much money do you think you saved vs a contractor? Did your electric bill drop?
b durr There were too many upgrades to tell what impact this actually had. but insulation is thicker now and has stayed out of the gable vents. In addition attic airflow does not appear to be negatively impacted.
