So I just watched alle video's in one sitting. This is awesome and thought me a lot, and also gave me the confidence I could do this. Hope you are doing well. Can't wait for an update. Keep it up.
Well I tried to determine in advance, before placement of the mustang two crossmember. I really didn't know what cross member to use I ended up using a 1955 Chevy pickup truck mustang 2 crossmember conversion, which really wasn't right. So I ended up modifying the crossmember by cutting it out, on the bottom to push the suspension as high as I could up. it was my first time doing this so there's a lot of mistakes that I would do differently. The major issues I was having was I wanted the car to completely lay out, which most guys use an a s-10 frame when doing a conversion of a V8 bug. But I never liked them ,they always sit too high. It definitely was a chore raising the motor enough and using the right oil pan. But the car does lay out and has about a quarter inch on the oil pan and a half inch on the transmission pan. One of the major mistakes I made was not mounting the upper a arm mount high enough. If i would have moved it up another 1.5" I would have had the full and correct suspension travel, but I got lucky on that one that it still works fine. Was a real learning experience. I recently sold the car I'm getting ready to start building a new one, and I have pages of notes on issues I need to correct on the new one.
Cost can vary I shopped on eBay, the cleaner the front forks are, I've seen them as high as 1200, but if you shop around you and are fine with a few scuffs or light scratches you can save a lot , I bought my front end with disc brakes and front wheel for around $450, you will need to change the fork stem and bearings , cognito motors does a great job and has most parts for any fork conversion.
I appreciate that ,I had some footage and then I lost it in my phone. I'll be making another video soon . Working on the floor and I ran into a seating size problem with the transmission tunnel so I had to builder my own seats to fit . I'm going to be starting to wire the car up this week and I will put a video out of it later on this weekend.
I have two projects going, was hoping to make it to ls fest in Vegas but that's not gonna happen in April, but I am working on the floor of the ls bug, ran into some room issues with the seats not fitting and clearing the driveshaft trans hump. So I'm building some bucket seats now...will post a video real soon thx for watching .
Here's a link to my first video where I showed my frame jig I made and how i started my frame build . Hit me up if you got any questions ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-HgHdf_HWbxA.html
I should clarify…your review was great, and shows it doing a good job. My beef is that HF advertised (discontinued now) as suitable for car & light truck tires. Does ok on 14-16” car tires, but have never had luck with truck tires in the 15-16” range.
Doing the floor right now and starting on the engine wiring , just been working so much can't get a day to get out there, bumming me... I really wanted to take it to LS fest this April in Vegas my home town....gonna start posting some updates as soon as I get a break
And thank you very much I'm actually working on the floor right now and having some issues with seats but I'm going to be figuring that out real soon thanks a lot
Yes after you dial it in and don't rush the speed , Ive had very good results with it but I actually use my BAUER portable deep cut band saw with the swag stand so much more lately. It's become my go to for mostly everything.
I'd by a portable band saw , either a Bauer , DeWalt or Milwaukee....any one will work well Your preference, .ones always price lol....then Buy the swag stand attachment....it works great for what your doing, will make your cutting so easy ....I use it more then my harbor freight bandsaw...
But the portable band saw plus swag stand will be around 250? But only will be vertical? I’d prefer a horizontal to get more repetitive cuts. Unless there is a way to make repeat cut angles with the vertical?
This is the raddest shit I’ve seen brother you are a machine with talent out the ass much love dude pls keep us posted this is what men think about when their wives are yelling at them and we are in our own world lol🤘💯👌
@@jbsprojects8186 seriously my guy your the man that thing is horny as fuck can’t wait to see you Finnish up I subbed I’m here now and here till she’s finnished can’t wait to see your smile driving that badboy your gonna need a pole on the back of it for all the panties thrown your way hahaha
I just found this one year later. I am curious to see how the front end is going to turn out. I thought that the upper and lower control arms really need to be parallel to each other to keep wheel travel and alignment over bumps.
I was worried about that too when I pieced the front end kit together I wasn't sure on the height to put them apart, first timer lol. And no doubt I'm not arguing that it could have been higher but I believe bumpster more occurs from what I read and studied from the bottom trailing arm and angle of the tie rod or running along with it horizontally. That was my understanding that's why they sell those bump stop kits to drop the tie rods down lower or to make the angle better But I'm not disagreeing at all I thought about taking it apart and raising it up. The issue I have is that if it was up just another inch or so I would have better movement or I should say more movement for the airbag travel. Thx for the comment....
They were cheepees from eBay paid 5$ there just listed as round bar end mirrors...sorry thats all they say on the ad, closest thing I could find to the original walking dead bike
I have a Instagram but I don't use much , starting a TikTok , almost have enough saved to finish the ve bug, so I will be doing more videos soon of starting her up
My saws is a couple decades old, single speed. I like to use the Bosch 14 tpi. Finding them on clearance, bought out all the local Lowes. $5 clearance! Great saw, just keeps chewing though.
@@jbsprojects8186 Ya, I searched Lowes stock up here in Oregon. Few at closest store, stopped in Eugene who listed 1 in stock. Found 3 so grabbed them all... Yay! Burned through a lot of Schedule 40 last year. Built a loader out of craigslist scraps and ebay hydrolics. Worked great tearing out cement pad. Bolted on to a JD 425
