I know what the laughing scene is TRYING to do, just as i know what Lucas was TRYING to do with the "i hate sand" scene, i just do not think that it was executed very well.
The Tidus and Yuna laughing scene feels like some bizarre bubble of societal autism. The context is incredibly clear, it's forced fake laughing because everyone is depressed, only Tidus doesn't understand Yuna is going to her death, so he alone starts a dumb joke of forced laughing to cheer her up. Such a silly action in the face of Yuna's sacrifice actually made her laugh and it successfully cheered her up a bit, then both Tidus and Yuna laugh for real. And yet the accusation is it's bad voice acting and they can't do laughs? how could that narrative possibly have been spread, it's sickeningly obvious what's going on and yet a lot of people are oblivious to it to very extreme levels, I can't even begin to comprehend how people can interpret it any differently to the way it is.
No matter how many times I play the game I ALWAYS have Vincent in the party to fight Hojo. I still love it when Vincent realizes it was hojo all along and says to him " I WAS.... WRONG. THE ONE WHO SHOULD HAVE SLEPT...WAS YOU HOJO!"
All the spells in FF16 are basically useless since there's no elemental weaknesses. There's basically no point in using the spells except to deal minor damage from range. Highly disappointing
16:10 I have a strategy for shinryuu that involves lvl 5 death. I haven't tried it yet though. Raise lvl to 107. Darkshock down to 53. Raise lvl to 63. Dark shock down to 31. Darkshock down to 15. Lvl 5 death.
I always loved Laguna. I saw so many people hating him for his petsonality, but I always loved him and his tragic story. The clip you used when Laguna was acting in a movie reminded me on how it's said that this movie was the one that inspired the young Seifer to use gunblades and his whole wish to become a knight. If you look at the scene, you can see Laguna uses the same gunblade stance as Seifer (or better said, Seifer learned the clumsy gunblade stance that Laguna, who never used a gunblade, just made up at the spot). I do hope Seifer learns one day that his possibly favorite childhood movie actor, the one that inspired him so much was none other that Squalls dad 😂
FFTA2 Red Mage with Elementalist as sub, dual casting Fire Whip and Boulder Crush to bully your enemies to death while they wasted their turns being able to do nothing
I don’t think the laughter scene is jarring. It’s totally reasonable for young adults navigating an existential crisis to try and focus on any levity and positivity that they can, knowing it was all they had before their near inevitable deaths.
As far as being patient goes, I’m down to 2-4 games a year anyway, so 2027 is fine for my next benchmark - for SE alone, I want to go through Rebirth, Octopath 1&2, Kingdom Hearts … I’ve got games on deck for ages before I necessarily have to worry about another day one purchase.
Playing X for the first time and quite honestly am baffled by the mass appeal. The field songs are so weak, progression is literally an endless hallway, character design is laughably bad, the sphere grid is just exp system but done manually and slow and blitzball SUCKS. I'll still finish it, I like it enough but it won't go in my top 5 that's for sure
Hot take (apparently): If the world settings of Final Fantasy games can be drastically different from each other, I don't see why the battle systems can't be drastically different too.
In Tactics A2 Grimoire of the Rift, I think the best job combination for Humes was Ninja+Seer (Ninja with Sage abilities) Ninja for Dual Wield to double atk Seer for “Magic Frenzy” allowing you to cast a magic following it up with physical atks to up to 5 enemies in a single turn. Because of dual wield the physical atk follow-up was doubled. So you turn 1 atk into 3 to up to 5 enemies at once.
The misunderstanding of the laughing scene, especially with so much post game context at this point, really shows me people do not understand how to pay attention or comprehend a situation. Whether its from failure to empathize with a situation, or they just never lived something like that themselves, it's disappointing how many people missed the point. At this point JAT has made numerous videos breaking down the scene and explaining the content, direction for the shoot, and etc. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-kRWab0q9aw4.html&pp=ygUlamFtZXMgYXJub2xkIHRheWxvciB0aWR1cyBsYXVnaCBzY2VuZQ%3D%3D
I don’t think the extended voice cast gets enough credit. Their breath taking performances. No game has ever had me so emotionally devastated as this game did. Replaying it now after beating it at launch with the dlc and replaying it with new eyes has been amazing
Luca was another segment of the game where battle was different, like in zanarkand. It played the dame music in and out of battle, no victory poses or quips. Very fitting considering everything in Luca was going to hell in a hand basket following the blitzball cup.
Still one of the greatest games ever! Still as good as it was all those years ago when a young me had saved up his pocket money and went and got my copy!
I think most people who actually enjoy the FFX story agree that the laughing scene is a great bonding moment with Tidus and Yuna. I can kinda understand why people just find it cringy (As it's definitely meant to be awkward), but it feels so obvious what it represents in the story. Anyways, great video, I learned a lot :D
