I find it interesting to see most of the band players are a little awkward during others solo. They seem not know how to relax in doing nothing. Anyway, fantastic music from all of them 😊
I am extremely sad to say that Larry passed away in November 2023 at age 86, from COPD. He had been playing as beautifully as ever until he had a stroke in February that year that took away the use of his right hand. He was one of a kind both as a musician and a human being and is greatly missed.
Tears...and smiling. Oh the sound of that horn. Heaven is that much more melodious with you there Larry. Back here, you'll live on through these recordings. God bless you and thank you for everything you played as a musician and lived as a human.
When all ya';ll musicians are 84 years old, then you have something to say. Until then, Larry McKenna, got the message, money, music right on tonight!!
Larry had to play with the Black musicians before, in the day. He didn't care about the color of anyone singing or playing, he had to prove himself to the Black jazzz musicians. Which Larry McKenna did.
