Indeed i just found him two years ago , previously i only knew stan getz , mw Mc Kenna is a lost gem in jazz music

Your comment re John Coltrane has some validity. I once read that, not long before he died, he felt that he had pursued the wrong musical path.

McCoy Tyner in in depth conversations with so many people that contributed to the greatness of the music said that is why Trane is the greatest because he was the most spiritual player ever. You like who you like but Trane will always be know as The master of the tenor.Hats off to McKenna but hes not even in the top 100. You had to know your comment needs merit.And there is none.

@@albertbrown359 I read that comment in a biography of John Coltrane. It was simply a quotation that may or not have some validity. I was a tenor saxophone player for 65 years so I understood how the instrument and music in general works. Coltrane's early album of ballads was a masterpiece but at the end of the day, the best musicians are simply the ones who give you the greatest listening pleasure. I never saw Coltrane, along with Sonny Rollins, Dexter Gordon and Hank Mobley play live but was lucky to be there to see many of their contemporarys plus top British and European saxophonists in action.
