A good friend of mine is autistic, and I drive us to markets and garage sales. He’s lovely company (I know to expect his maladaptive and/or inappropriate behaviors) and super intelligent but he often gets bizarrely absorbed in something and then I have to gently coax him away from it. A while back he purchased an old typewriter at a garage sale, and has been creating really cool pages of typewritten poems and prose. Honestly, I think they are works of art. He hates talking to strangers and even freezes sometimes in social situations. His favorite place to be is home.
Thank you for sharing this. I love that it was a quiet vlog, so calming. I've lived in London for almost 5 years now, and as a sensitive person its been a huge challenge just to feel I can get through the day. I get so overstimulated and have found that my self care practices and alone time are essential. I have to actively underestimate myself to feel okay. Anyway, its really comforting to know I'm not alone in feeling this way about city environments 💛
The Animal Fries 5 Spice reminds me of a spice bag in Irish Chinese takeaways. You can also get vegan ones/do easy healthier homemade recipes and it's so delicious with air-fried tofu. Highly recommend you check it out!
I must say I do miss your vlogs so it's always nice to see one pop up. I remember my kids going through all that Autistic awareness when they were first diagnosed. My youngest has recently moved to Canberra & is also on the job hunt (something she's finding very challenging with Austism).
I haven't watched your videos in so long just because I haven't really been consuming anything at all. BUT I honestly love them and am so happy to be binge watching them right now ❤
So good to see you! I don't think I'm on the autism spectrum, nor do I think I have ADHD, but I relate to so much of what you're saying. I am a Highly Sensitive Person, which I didn't know was an official thing, but makes so much sense! Animal fries look so good and I'm glad you're doing well, even with all of life's bumps.
thank you sweet soul! there's a lot of really interesting background to the HSP type. the author is referenced in a lot of books on autism, for she had an autistic son and in many ways was describing an autistic profile x
Your hair this way is so flattering. I am neurotypical and a suppressed extrovert, but also get tired out by too many visitors at once. Good to see you're keeping busy and enjoying the things that please you, and that you are taking the job and grant thing in stride. These are temporary dips, Phoebe, and your brain is already coming up with solutions; getting back your joie de vivre from childhood is significant! Thanks for posting!
So great to see you back on RU-vid Phoebe! Please try Not to Reject the changes that you see happening within you, And instead See them for the wisdom and maturity they reflect. You're as beautiful as always, just a bona fide adult now! As for the nihilism- I hear ya sister. I could use a pep talk myself in that arena. talk myself on that subject
Your discussion on feeling nihilistic as a young person in today’s world was so relatable and made me feel less alone :) thank u for creating and sharing these vids when it feels right💛
Hey Phoebe! Just came to the comments to say you’re looking great- glowing and it shows that you’ve done a lot of self work and understanding recently. Love it love it love it xx keep making videos
Good to see you, Phoebe! Glad you're busy and enjoying extracurriculars! The cat is super-friendly, and Merlin doesn't seem too jealous of you : ) Good luck on the job hunt--the right one will find you--and your cookbook prep, and thanks for posting!
the Stephanie Alexander Kitchen Garden sounds amazing Phoebe!! Have you ever heard of the Ballymaloe Cookery School in Ireland? Similar vibes... cookery school on a farm with a heavy emphasis on seasonal produce etc etc. V pricey but it looks like a dream. Lots of love and hoping something special turns up soon for you xx
my goodness thank you for putting it on my radar Lily, what a beautiful place!! I wish these places/organisations weren't so rare. All the love and wind it your sails to you too x
Lovely to see you again. My daughter, who I bought your cookbooks for here in Ireland, is studying away for her finals & hoping to get into culinary school. Here's hoping 🤞
I feel always so happy and inspired during and after watching you do your daily things, with so much grace and cozy vibes. Thank you for sharing with us <3
I feel you with the body changes and not feeling great about your body. It’s not even that I dislike my body I just kind of feel like one day I woke up and it was sooo different so it’s been very jarring. I always heard people talk about a second puberty at 25 and it was definitely the case for me. Here’s to appreciating our bodies and seeing them as neutrally as possible :)
