I love reading, bookstores, libraries, and collecting rare and antique books. I am looking forward to giving you a look inside the books inside my collection and bargain hunting. I release a new video each weekend.
Enjoyed this immensely. A book collection not overrun by one "popular" genre. This has some classics and books that I could relate too. Very impressive and well done.
I arrange books by binding and size. Clothbounds together, leatherbounds together etc and penguin editions together on their own shelves. Dusting the library is a nightmare though. Maybe its a good idea to add glass panes to the shelves. Great video!!
Great collection! Ive really enjoy watching! What tipe of transparent lid do you use for covering your old book? Ive searching forever for a similar solution! Cheers for Buenos Aires
Wish I'd the room for so so many I don't plus my OCD id be going crazy trying to organise them in a certain way, I have to limit my self and don't keep all sad to say
Thank you for sharing! Your videos are my book therapy, I’ve missed it. I have red and blue fairy books in paperback edition and haven’t seen any other colors since - they are indeed hard to find!
Harriet the Spy was published in 1964 and the follow-up book in 1965 so when the first one came out it may have had the blurb for the second on the dust jacket since it was a planned release.
I love your enthusiasm for books and all bookish things! Your kindness and love really shows in how you so thoughtfully search for just the right book treasures for your family and friends to send them on special occasions. They must really look forward to your boxes of book adventures, learning and fun! It is so good to listen to you in these times of so much war, hatred and hunger in the news everyday. Thank you for sharing a ray of sunshine with us.✨🦋🍀
It might be overstating to say I have a system 😉 I like to collect nice copies of books that I loved as a kid. I'm also a bargain shopper so I love finding a good book for a song. All of those books get read eventually. recently I've been tackling them one shelf at a time. What is your approach?
I enjoyed your video. Thank you for creating and uploading it for us! I would have enjoyed it so much more if you had talked about each of your books that you showcased. But as it is, still a very fun, enjoyable video!
Love the theme..... When it comes to illustrators on books there's so many if you get a chance please check out John vassos or Henry Keen, and I'm sure you're familiar with Arthur Rackham.
Thank you for the suggestions! I do love Arthur Rackham. I did a video showing some of his things that I am lucky to have. I found a lovely entry on the British Library website showing some examples of Henry Keene and they are wonderful!
What awesome content I stumbled across !! I'm no rare collector myself, but i sure do share that feeling of hunting for first editions, and getting ones special to me! I have a few cool ones, nothing historical, but some really important ones in my perspective. Cheers!
Thank you for watching and for the nice comments! I think everyone has favorite books, and a special edition of a favorite is such a treasure. It doesn't really matter if it's 'rare' or 'valuable' if it's special to you.
No sadly i dont have that one yet! I would love to have it one day! I would invest if you love Tolkien's works. I highly value my FS books and they sit in a special place of honor n this house! But there are probably other, illustrated versions to choose from out there. @@rarebookviews
You can never reread Tolkien too many times. I promise you will discover something new with each read and the movies only edify the story. Thank you for sharing your passion.
What happened to the Hobbit is a travesty but LOTR is at the top of my favorite films list. They are fantastic and stand the test of time. Marathoning the extended versions is a great way to spend a bad weather day. I would recommend watching the films before rereading LOTR if you tend to be a book purist, because that way you don't notice the changes as much. I personally found the changes made the movie flow better and understand why they made them (not so much the hash job made of the Hobbit...yes, I'm a bit bitter still). And you should buy the Folio LOTR so your set matches and then sell the others to me. ;)
good eye! I found it in a charity shop in England and really didn't pay much for it (but most of my special books were bargain buys, because I am so frugal).
I know just what you mean. I get excited when I find a used copy of a book I thought was particularly good. Then I start thinking "who would like this?" As a result, I'm forever buying copies of books I already have.
Fun! I loved seeing what you bought people, I always struggle with multiple recommendations, you seem really good at thinking "if they like this they'll also like that".
It was wonderful! There are so many books that will make you stop and be thankful for what you have. This one reminded me how lucky I am to be a reader.
I absolutely loved this tour!!! I agree with not needing a formal dining room as a formal dining room. Library wins....hands down!! Thanks for sharing your amazing collection.
