The Fanatical Dragon strikes back.... My original channel which had just hit 3K subs was deleted by youtube. Starting again from scratch. I post Boutique Blu-ray reviews, unboxings and news updates with a huge focus on East Asian cinema. Hong Kong and Chinese Movies, Japanese and Korean cinema. Lots of Shaw Brothers, lots of Kung Fu. Please subscribe if you like what I post!
That a great movie and a stunning release. I have Eureka blu ray but ended up double dripping due to the additional cut of the movie. Hopefully it should arrive early next week
Way much better than the so called American martial arts Garbage and terrible Hollywood knockoffs courtesy of Arnold Schwarzenegger, Sylvester Stallone, Jean claude van damme, Wesley Snipes, mel Gibson, Chuck Norris and Bruce Willis who rely on autoaim when they fire a weapon that cannot hit a target practice and deliver ridiculous punch lines with parody catchphrases
2024 is pretty much the 50th anniversary of when the flow of these films started flooding in. Other than Fist of Unicorn, the majority of these came out post Bruce Lee’s passing. These are still important films regardless of whether many people think they are a waste of time. I love Bruce Lee’s movies and the Bruceploitation films!
When i went to see this at cinema here in HK, in the same period came out also “I did it my way”. Im glad we chose to see this one with wife.. I went to one of my favorite cinemas, the last standing old school layout, with giant screen; the Grand Ocean in TST (by Golden Harvest).
@@TheFanaticalDragon Yeah I grew up with that one so it's hard for me to not be biased but I just think the sound and music cues suited the action better in the dubbed version.
@williamwest7008 I get that, I grew up on the Chinese language version so first time hearing the English dub was like nails on a chalkboard for me. Nostalgia is a powerful thing!
Fantastic interview with Michael! I had no idea The Basher Box is Pearl River 003 and 004! I really hope Michael can get these legends together for his film!
Hi dragon I just bought my copy of clones of bruce it is amazing documentary love it beginning to the end I just want to thank everyone in the bad ass project and all the hard work they put in to it you guys are amazing and everything about Bruce Lee keeps on flowing again thank you.
Great interview and so good someone is fighting the good fight to bring these out of the closet. And to have an action star and actor of Michael Worth's caliber being interested in extending his experience into this undertaking is fantastic. It is fun to see someone who is possibly the "first fan" of these films be in this position of sharing his collection, knowledge and resources to document and save these movies from obscurity. Yes, can't wait for Vol 2, more Pearl River and Worth's book!
Fantastic interview! I’ve been a Bruce fanatic since 73’ (I’m 65) and he was my gateway into the glorious world of Kung Fu movies. It’s kind of weird to me that there are Bruce fanatics who have never even entertained a traditional Fu movie (both Shaw and independents) much less a Bruceploitation potboiler! To them it’s Bruce or nothing! I was lucky enough to get the second chance of getting the Severin bundle which arrives Wednesday (I’ve put my box set up on eBay) which they put up a few days ago after finding a few sets so can’t wait for that! I’ve enjoyed the set so far and it’s hilarious that we’re all rubbing our hands together for Vol 2!! Already coming up with our lists of wants! Anyway, another great interview to go along with the one you did with Frank! Well done Dragon!
@@TheFanaticalDragon Hey Dragon! My bundle arrived today and I’m delighted with it of course! My random poster is Dragon On Fire which is great so I’ll be getting that framed (it’s a big folded 80’s poster) but the main draw is the Bruce Le signed clones documentary poster! As you know the set comes with the Black Dragon signed postcard, cassette and Kato poster. Can’t wait for vol 2 now! Surely we’ll get something signed by Bruce Li or Dragon Lee or maybe both! I’ve only got to 4 movies so far because the discs are jam packed with extras. Fantastic release. Anyway keep up the great work and I’ll keep on watching!
Aye, 88 tested out only putting the poster and booklet into the 4K versions of a couple of their recent releases, there had been a bit of a backlash against it so they announced that they’ll not do it anymore, but it does affect Fist of legend and I think to Kill with intrigue.
Yeah I got my copy in a couple of day's ago. Any movie with Tomisaburo Wakayama is gold to me. Hopefully they continue putting a spotlight on his films. So far Radiance knows how to take my money. Next we're getting Eighteen Years In Prison.
I went to a screening of Demon of the Lute, earlier in the month. I'd never heard of the film before. It was a ton of fun. I found a copy of it for sale on Ebay, coming out of China. I just got it, and it seems nice. I assume it is a bootleg release. The main feature is Chinese language, but has English sub-titles. It has bonus features on it, which shows a Spectrum Films logo at the start. That is what led me here. Thinking someone in China got the Spectrum Films release and added English subtitles to it, and burned it to a disc. The bonus features only have Chinese(I assume) sub-titles. Anyway, I'd buy a legit English release in a second. Demon of the Lute is so much fun!!
Not quite. They didn’t remove it, the cost of licensing it from Miramax was insanely high and would have killed the release dead. I’ve never watched this movie with the English dub, no idea why anyone would want to. But that’s just me. You can get it easily on the old Dragon Dynasty release. The picture quality is shocking but you can watch it with the dub track if that’s your bag.
@@VanFS3K I get it, that’s how I first saw a bunch of Shaw’s titles so am more nostalgic for those dubs from time to time, but usually always prefer subs for movies and anime. But like you say, it’s totally just a personal preference.
Always wanted to get a copy of this film, just based on the fact that the black suits in the X-Men films were inspired by the ones in this movie; and glad that I did now that it’s sold out.
I actually missed out this beautiful Radiance release of one of Mario Bava’s strangest films I have ever seen, despite being a filmmaker that was known for colourful gothic horror and gialli such as Blood and Black Lace. He also did his somewhat final but slightly incomplete work in his career as a director, which was an excellent Rabid Dogs, filmed at the time when Italian crime films such as High Crime and Violent Naples gained huge popularity in Italy. I bet you’ve seen some of the so-called “poliziotteschi” films before. They were like Hong Kong “heroic bloodshed” films but without martial arts and some over-the-top John Woo flavour to them. Maurizio Merli was Iike the Italian equivalent of Danny Lee who frequently played tough cop roles. Speaking of the unboxing video of Invasion of the Body Snatchers 4K set from Arrow, I’m saddened to hear that Canadian acting legend Donald Sutherland has passed away since two days.
UPDATE: Well I finally found the beautiful Radiance release of Planet of the Vampires at DiabolikDVD and order it straight away before it’s gone for good (sure the shipping cost is way too expensive for overseas customers but better late than never, especially when it comes to other limited edition sets like the humongous box set of Ninja Terminator containing a rare original source material that IFD Films has stolen from presented in HD from a 35mm print but as a limited exclusive item). Can’t wait to put my hands on this awesome set after it arrives. I do hope one day that we will be getting some Mario Bava films like Black Sabbath and Black Sunday on 4K at some point. Arrow has released Blood and Black Lace on 4K before (with correct aspect ratio unlike the older Arrow blu-ray).
Thanks for interviewing him, he doesn't get a lot of credit. His action input in his movies are amazing. I would say he definitely is easily one of the best action choreographers for today. His work in Rurouni Kenshin movie series is amazing!!!
Thanks for watching the review! Kenji is absolutely incredible, since we shot this interview Twilight of the Warriors - Walled In has been released and for me showcases some of the best work he's been able to do thus far in his career! Extremely excited to see his next directorial work in Furious, which he's currently shooting in Thailand now. He's a master.
What's going on with the numbers?, the last release we got was 36 Flying Guillotine Part 2, but these release are numbered 38,41 and 42 so where's 37,39 and 40.
Im thinking about getting the three American SHAW BROS sets from Shout also, there seems little duplication between whats in them and these Arrow ones. Views on that please?
There are actually six shout shaw brothers sets ( so far) four volumes, a brave archer set and a ti lung/ David Chiang set. No duplication with any titles on the Arrow boxsets at all. They’re not as nicely presented or as densely packed with extras as the Arrow boxes but there are some great titles on them .
That’s definitely the best way to go into it! I had zero idea of what to expect but really enjoyed it! Maybe More for how it was shot and how creative they were with their Go-Pro cameras and drones than the actual storyline, which was also good, but the real joy for me was in how they went about telling it.
Aww brother, I just gaveaway a copy in a competition! you two really need to enter when i do them!! It's a great release of a really underrated gem of a movie.
@TheFanaticalDragon we like to give everyone else a chance. Can't have everyone thinking the ACC is crooked, we'd end up looking like Tony Leung in The Goldfinger! I think I owe Chameleon films a purchase after the nice gift they sent us last year 💖
you humble me brother! You two are the OG's on RU-vid when it comes to flying the Flag for Cine Asia! I'm always late to the party! you two get to attend the premieres I would love to be closer to! The more of us shouting out what Cine Asia are doing the more movies we can see them bringing to us here in the UK! x
@TheFanaticalDragon absolutely, we are on the same page, Brother. I like to be as honest as possible, though, and this video was outstanding. Love CineAsia, be awesome if we both got to attend an event one day 💖
Another series we knew nothing about. So thank you Brother Dragon for both shedding some light here and also updating me personally. So glad you still this format of videos too, I find them so relaxing. It's probably largely due to your wonderful accent. You always sound great ❤
Thank you Brother! This format was originally inspired by the wonderful 'The Relaxing End' RU-vid channel, his videos are silent, and much more ASMR based, but i totally was inspired by his style of shooting Unboxings. He's way, way slicker than I am though. Check his channel out!
I feel you mate, it’s always a little painful when that happens, but 88’s Shaw series laid the groundwork for all the other U.K. and US labels to follow. It’s the only numbered Bluray series I went out of my way to pickup every single title of.
@TheFanaticalDragon it's all good it's nice to have both 88 and arrow collection, just wish the titles I mentioned weren't as expensive as they were to buy, worth it but not worth it lol
