Jake from State Fun here! Wrenching around on motor/vehicle/engine rescues, teardowns, builds, and restorations! Follow along for videos on whatever I can save from the junkyard!
Thank you very much for this video. You have presented the unit quite well and in such a way that I can see how it was laid out, as well as built. I'm a model builder, and am using your video for reference on my RU-vid channel as I'm building a model of a pickup camper and showing others how it's built. Your video has been extremely valuable to me.
@@StateFun I have a series of videos going on it. I have a new one that will be up in a day or two. I'll keep you posted. Again, thanks for sharing your videos. They have been very helpful.
New Hollands are a giant POS! I purchased a used one that spent more time in the shop than on the job. Thinking that I just got a lemon on that deal I let the salesman at the dealership talk me into trading it in on a brand new machine with the guarantee that the warranty on the new machine would take care of any issues. The machine broke down the first month we had it and because of electronics inventory issues, they could not repair it for 2 months! And would not give me a loaner machine or even lend me the one I traded in even on a rental basis. 2 months later I got it back only to have overheating issues which they claimed were caused because I was running an after market 4 in 1 bucket and told me the warranty would not cover?? $3,111.00 later it was fixed and ran for 3 months before the electronic parking brake locked up while in motion, sheering off an actuator and doing another $2,000 worth of damage that was denied by the New Holland Warranty. Keep in mind this all happened within a YEAR of purchasing it BRAND NEW!!
That lever to engage your chipper is called a clutch lever, and it is supposed to be engaged slowly at a low RPMs and then once it’s engaged completely, you can raise your RPMs up to disengage lower your RPMs and lift up
Hello Jake, love that 55 Super! By now you know the engine is a 322 Buick Nail Head. It has close to 200 HP. The Difference between the Super and Roadmaster, is trim and the 4 barrel carburetor. One of my older Brothers had a 55 Super Riviera 2 Dr. It was pretty quick, Brother put a 4 Barrel Carburetor on the engine. It did make a difference. Also in 55 Buick used what's called vertical pitch in the transmission, it was passing gear. Dynaflow transmission never shifted on its own. (D) Drive was Drive (L) Low was Low there was no shifting from low to Drive. Hope to see you driving it.
@@elizabethcomstock1699 I got it from Harbor Freight. It's designed to be used as a circular saw guide bar, but it works well for cutting those stick on tiles too! www.harborfreight.com/50-inch-clamp-and-cut-edge-guide-66581.html
Thank you for sharing. Planning to convert my 2022 Prius, because I want to, not because I see benefits, for me. Please don't touch or look at phone while driving. Same as with passengers, don't look at them like you would when not driving. Also keep right except to pass. Lanes left of right lane are meant for passing only (unless exits). Thanks again for sharing, lower RPMs up hill from the increased Torque sounds interesting amd wonder if my prius will get that experience.
Remember that some of tbese came with Hi-Flow auxiliary hydraulic as an option(machine will have 2 sets of hose connections), tho i don't know the gpm of the Hi-Flow.
A Roadmaster suppose to have a Stromberg 4 Barrel. The intake was probably changed. For future reference, submerge in lemon juice and boil for at least 20. Add lemon juice as necessary to keep it submerged. Only boil brass, copper, aluminum. No plastic or rubber. OUTSTANDING! Nothing like the old Buick motors. I love the car, I grew up with a Roadmaster just like that one in my neighborhood. Those Buicks have what’s called a spline seal to keep the transmission fluid from going into the rear end because it has a closed drive line. Bobs Automobilia in California for all the parts you’ll need The 55 Buick had a vertical pitch transmission. It was the first year for a passing gear. One of my Brothers had a 55 Buick Super 2Dr Riviera
We did a fresh coat on top after building was finished, and it's holding together nicely. The areas that were packed have done better than the fill, so I'd suggest some larger crushed stone or concrete for base if you're filling an area, but once it packs in, it holds up well. Even with all the Amazon drivers running up and down it!
I've got some .023 wire with CO2 for sheet metal, I should use argon mix but don't have it. With the 18 ga metal I've ran at the lowest setting it'll do, and it turns out ok, but I'm not good at welding so I'm still learning what to change and when.
@StateFun nice! I'm teaching myself how to weld, I'm not that good at it currently. I'm using .030 flux core wire with the welder set at 12.5V and 2.0 wire speed it seems to be the sweet spot for thin sheet metal. I'm working with 16 and 18 gauge on a 71' C20 truck.
I haven't, the tires need to be replaced anyways, so I have looked at solid tires or track conversion, but both options are expensive so I keep working on the old work or tires for now lol
Just watched your video on the nice ole red Buick. Great job on getting her up and moving again. I hope you keep and make her hole again. I love Buicks I drive a 1992 Buick Roadmaster and shes still solid no rust or rott.anf runs great.
I used 75w-140. Mostly because I don't drive it in extreme cold weather, and with the constant load of the camper in the back I wanted the heavier weight fluid.
I have watched videos of people building their own slide in campers, and I was a little skeptical about how sturdy they would be without them having a welded aluminum frame. Seeing the way that camper is built, it looks like they don't really need to be as structurally stable as I thought, because that one doesn't seem to be built very well.
