E85 in Southern California is between $3.69 to $3.99 while regular unleaded is $5.33. I run E85 on my truck even though I get 2 mpg less but it’s a lot less to operate my truck with E85 vs regular gas.

Here in Central Texas the pumps we have locally e85 is like 10 or 15 cents cheaper that 87 so right now 87 is like $4 so e85 would be like $3.85 and my flex suburban would get 15mpg on regular and like 11mpg in e85 definitely not worth it for me

I had a similar experience. In Colorado going to Pueblo state park with my 2014 Silverado 1500 5.3 engine that is factory flex fuel capable. Towing our 24 ft camping trailer on gas we could get 10 mpg indicated on flat road at about 65 mph. As an experiment we fueled up from nearly empty and at the same stretch of highway we got the same indicated mpg. Also traveling over the Johnson/Eisenhower tunnel passes(11,000+ft above sea level) our mpg was actually better than gasoline. I was also shocked/pleasantly surprised. Currently at my Kum&Go E85 is about $3.09/gal compared to $4.14/gal. I also do my own blending in my 2005 Colorado 3.5. I get a check engine with over about 26% ethanol but the engine really likes around 28%. On gas 20mpg all day long, with my blending about 18mpg. I can eek out 20mpg if I drive a lot of highway or back roads. Anybody out there experiment with high altitude ethanol blending to compensate of lower O2?

I have the 6.2 liter 415 HP in my 2013 LTZ Crew, I have to burn Premium or E 85, I get 19 mpg, I love E 85, and a dollar a gallon cheaper than premium.

I honestly don't remember what mpgs I got from my 350, it blew a head gasket a few months after I bought the suburban and I took the opportunity to LS swap it.

I noticed the same thing in my 2012 Titan as well as my 97 Express van running them on E85. Your not in the throttle as much with the increased torque to get rolling and stay rolling.

The E85 here is over $1.00/gal cheaper than 91 or 93. On my tuned 5.7L Express van I was getting enough MPG over 87 to pay for premium fuel and the bonus was alot more power. It was even more economical and made more power on E85. Down at 1,500-2,000 rpm it made 40 ft/lbs more at the wheels on E85 than 91. I have replaced that 350 with an 11:1 aluminum head 383. I still need to change my fuel pump to supply the ~500 hp 383 with enough E85 but the 383 was built with E85 in mind hence the compression ratio. The old 350 got 19 mpg highway on 91+ octane E10 gasoline and about 15-16 on E85. The new 383 gets 18 mpg on E10 and its currently octane limited on timing advance on 91 octane. The E85 results should be fun.

For reference here in Fort Worth, TX, E85 was $2.88/gal yesterday when I bought gas and Premium floats between $3.80 and $4.00/gal. I need to get off my butt and install the Racetronix E85 pump.

more torque, burns longer, makes more torque on the hill climbs. That was the first thing I noticed on my first e85 fill up., just make sure you updated you fuel lines and use a 10 micron stainless fuel filter. the stock paper filters are okay but the swap is cheap. also your probably like every single gas station, they probably put 89 octane in all the fuel pump except the e85 one. Jag-Off gas station owners, i would have to say most gas stations are franchise operated so any way to make a buck of every fill is a plus.

I run e85 for performance but I get about 25% less fuel mileage on my lq9 6.0 in my OBS Chevy pickup. It went from 12-13 mpg average on pump gas to 9-10 mpg on e85. This was an overall average, the truck has a 4l80e and 4.10 gears

I think it depends on vehicle. I had a chevy equinox and it got 10 mpg less with e85. But my ram truck i get same as with regular gas.

how did u set up ur p59 pcm for the flex fuel i bought the e 85 flex fuel kit to do mine and i have hp tuners head i had to segment swap from another tune file that has flex fuel on from the factory let me know if u could help

Your torque level went up since you were not in a higher rpm. Torque is what got you up the hills .take a look at Gale Banks Engineering. He is the leader on gas or diesel mpg results. No reason now with some of his products where you should be getting closer to 20 mph on your Suburban and 30 mpg with your diesel converted pickup.

Less smoke with the ethanol blends. A bit more difficult to start in colder temperatures, but once warmed up, no difference with the ethanol fuel. I have not noticed much of an economy difference. People talk about it being less economical, less kms or miles to a tank. My real world experience was negligible difference.

Can I used Lucas lubrication gas additive on e85? I can’t find a video on RU-vid ! I’ve been loosing gas and I bought new tires and new battery but I’m still loosing power so I was thinking using Lucas and I wanted to see if you can help me …ty (20012 dodge caravan flex fuel) I do notice my mpg double when I had a mix of gas!!!! 30 mpgs but now I get around 18 and I understand that normal but would be safe to used 1 gallon regular gas and 16 on e85 . I drove 3 states without getting gas (yes they were all close but 4.2 hrs later I was amazed

If you're talking about the injector cleaner version, I'd expect it will work fine in E85. They do have an ethanol specific fuel conditioner, which appears to prevent water separation in the fuel, amzn.to/42sPRQa As far as using a specific blend of gas and e85, that's perfectly fine on a vehicle specifically labeled "flex fuel" as it can run on any mixture of gas and ethanol. Pure gas all the way to pure ethanol.

@@Erickthedreamgiver I just realized you meant ethanol conversion not the LS conversion. I do have a video on the e85 conversion, just not one for the LS. I'm not sure the best way to convert a non-LS engine. You could probably run a Holley ECU and throttle body though!

Your results are not crazy, the problem is that people have been bamboozled by BTU comparisons. BTUs are irrelevant when it comes to internal combustion engines. Thank you for sharing. Planning to convert my 2022 Prius, because I want to, not because I see benefits, for me. Please don't touch or look at phone while driving. Same as with passengers, don't look at them like you would when not driving. Also keep right except to pass. Lanes left of right lane are meant for passing only (unless exits). Thanks again for sharing, lower RPMs up hill from the increased Torque sounds interesting amd wonder if my prius will get that experience.

Here in Texas it’s roughly 20% cheaper and my flex fuel truck runs really good on it but the pumps are hard to find, I use an app that helps me find them around town

Unfortunately no, this modification shouldn't get better mpg. I got extremely lucky that this particular drive ended at the same mpgs. I've done further testing and get 0.5 mpg less on e85 in more typical driving. I don't have any good suggestions for mpg on a 454, they were built to drive past everything except a gas station.

Only thing to do is to take the heads off and clean the combustion chambers as engines get less efficient with significant carbon on the pistons and combustion chambers.
