Our whole training group, PFS of Virginia Beach Va , flew out to California to train with Marc! Awesome martial artist, very knowledgeable and we all had such a great time back in the early 90s!
Good stuff as usual. Interesting siderite maybe: the shotgun game is essentially the same what Zachary Wylde, English Fencing Master was referring to, when he used the term Halfstaff within his work on the Quartertstaff and which is very similar to bayonet fencing and the use of the butt according to Alfred Hutton. The Mopp game is also interesting as this stance and weapon position is known in Maj Rakau, Māori weaponry, with the Koikoi and Tao (spears), which is also useful due to enclosed environment the combat happens in.
1:11 to 1:24 I’ve mustve played this a thousand times over and over trying to replicate and simulate the moves. Friday was live rig day. I trained in FMA for a few years and it was very good medicine post September 11th 2001. Out of all the edged weapons etc, the stick was the best. Thank you
(coming from someone "exposed" to 3-section but not "proficient") the 3-section-staff has always held my interest but watching here, it seems they were novice?
During the World War 2, the Japanese thought that their Katana or, whatever sword they have, was superb. But they discovered how our Arnis or Kali Martial Arts, and skill in Bolo manipulation, is better than theirs. They don't want to talk about the superiority of Filipino Martial Arts openly.
