The scientific evidence does not contradict the biblical narrative. What contradicts the biblical narrative is the interpretation of the evidence by certain people who have an a priori commitment to any position that undermines the biblical narrative. Their position requires multiple untestable and unreasonable assumptions and should be treated accordingly.

They assume isotope decay rates have always been the same even though there is literally no way to corroborate that. Uniformitarianism is an untestable and unobservable assumption. It is by definition not science. There was a study done about a decade ago that showed that radiometric dating of different isotopes from the same rock samples produced non overlapping date ranges. This means they actually have no idea when these rocks were formed, so they have to assume the dates, for which they have no actual evidence. Radiometric dating is unreliable. They also employ circular reasoning when it comes to dating rock layers based on this assumption: the fossils are dated based on the rock layers they are found in and the rock layers are dated based on the fossils found in them. We also know that fossilization can’t happen over time. Organic matter decays too quickly. Plus, fossilization requires rapid burial of the organism. We see examples of fossils of one creature in the act of eating another, or with the body crossing rock layers. This cannot happen gradually. There is also no evidence of erosion between the layers, indicating they were formed either simultaneously or in quick succession. Their order also seems to be the pretty consistent globally. The global flood described in the Bible is the most likely explanation for this.
