All this cloud storage makes no sense to me, it is akin to having your data, be it documents, videos, photos etc processed onto a magnet sheet and affixed to someones fridge next door or your friend's fridge overseas somewhere maybe in a war zone. now if your internet provider, computer or cloud providers fail then you cannot access your data.pure and simple. worse still Since your data is held offsite by a company you do not control, you lack the ability to control and customise your data storage set-up. If you run into problems with a provider it may be problematic to switch to another provider due to the sheer size of data and related complexities of making a move. This is a phenomenon known as 'vendor lock-in. bear in mind No cloud provider offers an outage-free service, a cloud storage outage occurred in July 2024 USA when it disrupted multiple services and applications it was severe enough to cause widespread issues across various industries, including the grounding of hundreds of flights by major airlines due to disruptions in their booking and check-in systems Fires, riots, lightning strikes, cyber attacks wars, power failures, overwriting data, software errors, human errors etc etc. You have no control over the data storage environment so are at the mercy of the service provider's infrastructure. so Lets hope "cloud 9" still means that you are wonderfully happy and contented, as you float on the tallest cloud on earth. Cloud storage can also float away and disappear..... just saying My little quote : Don't allow the glue of circumstance to harden around your feet Be seeing you folks and above all take care 😀
Great presentation.. The problem with the anology of music in comparing it to your opinion of GenAI, is that the music industry is controlled by producers and commercial interests.. That is a dangerous trajectory for information. Especially, when it is published on platforms that generate revenue from advertisements.
