Best announcer is Klassic Mortal Kombat. Shao Khan makes everything seem like “welcome to hell hahahahaha, now fight”. Best part is his the iconic “Finish Him”, and also the disgust when you do a friendship.
@Swagster1000-sy3ng A very good choice here. It does give that feeling that he is overseeing every fight in the tournament which adds to the immersion!
@@PragmatikReviews quest 64 looks charming not gonna lie, there is a great video about quest how it probably was supposed to be a much grander and more fleshed out vision! on a side note about crossfire: If we talk single player gundam games there really isn‘t one that has fore fleshed out simulation aspects like destructible body parts, weighty movement, camo for terrain types, customization, world clock and two campaigns. There are many gundam games that have a tiny bit of simulation aspects or lots of customization, but most are strictly fun action games and I miss another attempt to make something as true to life as crossfire tried to make gundam … cheers!
@zoyboy1914 Well I've made a review of Quest 64 if you're ever interested! The thing about crossfire I try to emphasize is that I feel it literally does everything right. It's pacing is cool, and I love the look and movement. it's just more of that fine tuning I'd love. A lot of viewers have suggested emulating with a better system which I need to do sometime!
@@PragmatikReviews yeah I mean the gameplay in crossfire has some real problems like the auto aim, technical issues and ai but underneath it‘s amazing haha. but yeah try playing it at 60fps on a stronger machine for sure!
realistic Gundam graphic with Unreal Engine 5 would be much better. As much as we like to nostalgia with 2000s graphic, time moves on and they need to catch up or they'll lose competition with other games. Would be even better if they also make full motion VR Gundam cockpit simulator, just like there are full motion racing simulator and full motion flight simulator.
If you want to see what a Gundam VR cockpit simulator would be like such a mode is available in Zone of the Ender the 2nd runner mars edition for PS4-5 and PC.
The gameplay loop of this game reminds me a lot of Mechwarrior: having to manage your mechs and pilots as well as their morale, while keeping in mind that you only have so many days to prepare for a mission or take the risk and dump the mission completely even though you may need the money and supplies for repairing and upgrading your mechs (as well as keeping your pilots happy. In Mechwarrior, you have to pay your pilots a monthly salary or they'll end up quitting the job and leaving your crew).
@jonathanj.3695 I wonder how a combination of the two would go. I always liked the movements of Mechwarriros machines! I don't have a lot of experience with it sadly. We do for a new one?
@@PragmatikReviews I have it downloaded on my PS3. It's basically a summary of all 3 without the storytelling of the first one. Lol I also have the theme it came with on my PS3 😔 downloaded only sadly
@@PragmatikReviews exactly! I actually rather donate my PS3 so the games and data I do have on it can be preserved for future gamers. I ain't deleting anything. I'm just hoping to keep the hard drive preserved. I also have all the DLC from God of war 3 on there and the only game that says God of war 3 ultimate edition which I still have that ultimately edition collectors box in near mint condition. Oh AND DEMON SOULS FULLY DOWNLOADED! Also legacy of Kain Blood omen and soul reaver and A GOOD AMOUNT of themes. Aqua teen theme, gundam, God of war themes, man I love my PS3. The last greatest console
Even beyond fighting games, the adrenaline that a simple announcer can bring is too easily overlooked for how pumped they get you. I often cite the arcade version of Hydro Thunder for that feeling of "YEAH! LET'S GO!!!"
I don't play too many fighting games... my most experience is with the Dead or Alive series or the Tekken series. I've only played Tekken 1-3 but I don't really recall an announcer. I will say announcers do have huge impacts on the overall game experience. Perhaps the biggest one would be the WaveRace 64 announcer who is both super encouraging and enthusiastic and also can mock you at times for sucking. I think the "Finish Him" for Mortal Kombat is the most iconic as you showcased. Fun topic to "think about".
You know what's funny, I met Paul St. Peter, the Announcer for Soul Calibur, and I asked him specifically if they straight up asked him to do his Xemnas Voice for Soul Calibur 5/6, and I sadly can't remember the full story off the top of my head, but I think his response was basically: "I tried a few different voices, and eventually landed on Xemnas as it was one I was doing somewhat recently, and I can't tell if they wanted to avoid bringing it up or if they just liked how it sounded." Which, is fine by me because the man has a killer voice for Xemnas and doing it for SC5/6 was a welcome addition for me lol.
I never played this game but from what I have seen from videos like this and others is that the basic concepts were solid, in fact, a Gundam game that leans more toward the realism side would be great. As a Gundam fan, I would love to see a Gundam game that relies on tactics and movement instead of just outright firepower. (Though firepower does help) Having read some of the comments I would agree that making the game run better period is a great start, as well as massaging the time management/base areas, however, I have a few more to add. 1: Instead of starting like 80% into the OYW, you start from the start of the OYW. And you only have Mass-produced garbage but as the war goes on the EFSF gets their act going, and you get access to better suits (maybe be a test pilot like Federation v. Zeon?) Maybe throw in some White Base cameos as well? 2: The ability to reload weapons that use magazines. Mobile suits carry more than just one magazine for certain weapons. But for gameplay purposes, you'd have to balance it with weight. More ammo carried, more weight less mobility. 3: The ability to capture the enemy suits to use for yourself. Repairs will take longer but it is another suit for you to use in a pinch, you could break the suit down to help with repairs of other captured suits.
@combatking20 Definitely some neat ideas. Now one thing this game does that feels awesome is give you some higher suits like ground gundams and stuff and once that happens you feel that shift in power. This is something I honestly wish they would give another try to.
@@PragmatikReviews Gundam will be in an arcady rut and will not escape from it. Someone will have to take a risk in making a milsim like Gundam game. Risk taking in modern gaming is dead.
I played this game as a child and I've been trying to find the name of it. Thank you for making a random youtube video on it. I need to go search for my copy of it.
The Samari class is worth it for blade grasp alone! Boost brave (pretty easy to do), equip blade grasp, nearly impossible to hit with a physical attack. Calculators abilities make them INCREDIBLE! Just don't keep them as calculators. Send the calculators on odd jobs and boost the JP that way.
@christopherellsey344 I've learned a lot about calculators making this video, so I definitely want to work one into the next playthrough. Blade Grasp is amazing. Pretty much up there with Hamedo
I really enjoyed it quite a bit, and played it quite often. One other reason to recommend starting on Easy level though is that you can choose advance to a higher difficulty the next play through. The game does have a NEW GAME+ feature, after all. In fact, with the NEW GAME+ I was able to clear all difficulty levels when playing Federation. When playing as Zeon though, I could only clear Easy, and Normal difficulty levels.
There are a bunch of ideas that could make this concept great. Step One: Use the GBO2 or Gundam Breaker 4 engine. Step Two: Refine the base and time management aspects. Step Three: Have a selection of timelines and factions that you can play through. Clearing a scenario will let you do a new game plus and allow the player to use that faction's units in other timelines. I think with the advent of games like Hades, there is fertile ground for a similar Gundam game.
@silvermknight I definitely like some of these ideas! The GBO2 engine would be a good choice. Base management could definitely be worked on. I don't know about timeline, but definitely different moments in UC history like using the white dingos or some of the ground fights from 08th or Zeta.
@PragmatikReviews I envision the base management and timeline stuff to be something more like XCOM where you just set your production/repairs and just push the time advance button. In the meantime, missions can show up, and you are tasked with taking them on.
Shopping for gamecube games. As a MM fan, my intuition tells me not to buy this lol. I mean by Ebay prices 60$. I'm currently enjoying Lord the Rings The Third Age (RPG) which is awesome. Think I'd lower the bar here.
SS- Calculator S - Monk, Dark Knight, White Priest, Chemist, ninja. A - Wizard, Samurai, Lancer, Sumoner, time mage B - Bard, dancer, Knight, oracle, archer, geomancer, mediator ( can C, but ekip guns..) C - Squire, thief D - Onion, Mime
Ha ha, very fun and congrats on that money-money-money!! BTW, we cannot stand mid-video ads either and have disabled them to all of ours (if you see one, that's out of our control). I've legit clicked off of videos if there's a mid-roll ad; like nope, I know you can stop that, so if you have it in place, no thank you.
Nice Job man ! I got monetized last year in May and didn’t get my first payout till January of this year, but then I made a solid evergreen video a few months ago and got a pay out in April . And then my next payout is in July. The money is just so all over the place.
I completely understand. You do you man. Even though I have youtube premium and don't see ads because of it, I still appreciate your willingness to try and preserve the context and experience of your videos to the best of your ability. Thank you for being one of the good guys on youtube. 👍
Good job! I remember when youtube was supposed to be just about sharing your thoughts and and whatever. Money wasn't even a consideration. The only currency ai need is people talking to me. I don't put out enough to draw in people though, and that lack of people demotivates me. Such a vicious cycle. But I've always liked your stuff, even if I don't think I have ever commented before.
@PragmatikReviews I would need to put out more content more often. However as an only child, I thrive while working in solitude. The issue is, I am a father of a 12 and 7 year old. I have had solitude in 12 years. Though my channel itself is ancient, the first official video is from about 12 years ago. I'm not too worried about it all. I don't want to be big, I just want to talk to cool people. And I suppose in that respect, I have connected with a wonderful handful of people. But I have another hand to fill.
My apologies, I just now discovered your channel and your content, but I absolutely have to point out that at timestamp 1:26 , You are completely forgetting a game called "Gundam Wing: Endless Duel" for the Super Famicom in Japan. This pre-dated any playstation game and was the start of the Gundam fighting scene as far as I can tell. Yes, it isn't called Battle something, but its gameplay is almost identically to Gundam Battle Assault 1, only it's on the Super Famicom (SNES). Sorry for the long comment. I'm just a passionate lover of the Gundam Battle Assault series and feel hurt that no mention was made of Gundam Wing: Endless Duel. Anyhow, don't mind me, just a random Gundam fan flying by. Looking forward to your next video.
No worries you're totally right! I guess I should of stated that it was the first cross series fighter! though heck Endless Dual may of had guest characters for all I know. I actually thought I had a physical of that game too, but I didn't lol. thanks for the correction!
@PragmatikReviews It's a fantastic game. I highly recommend it. So much so, that you might consider making a video on it. ... Plus, if you're into emulation, there are plenty of fan-made english patches for it as well.
@@PragmatikReviews By the way, where is your Gundam Battle Assault 3 review video? I can't find it in your RU-vid channel. Please help. (UPDATE): I did find it. It's mixed in the Gundam Battle Assault 2 Review video. I might suggest that you change the title of your "Gundam Battle Assault 2 Review - Pragmatik" Video to something like "Gundam Battle Assault 2 & 3 Review - Pragmatik" so people will know that Assault 3 is included/covered in that video. Just a thought. Thanks. :)
So, I did like DWG2 for two major reasons: we got the first official English voices for several series (because their series had yet to be officially dubbed), and some of the character's Mission Stories. It was REALLY fun to hear Kelly Sheridan as Roux Louka (for reference, she's Miharu Ratokie in the 0079 series dub, and she's Louise Halevy in Gundam 00), and Andrew Francis made for a great Judau Ashta. The Mission Stories made for some wild scenarios. Emma Sheen's in particular was notable. For hers, the setup was that she was running simulations of historical events, and changing things up too see possible outcomes of thins going differently. Two of them were "If Zeon managed to mass-produce the Big Zam" (You had to fight THREE of them), and "What if Quattro Bajeena actually switched sides and fought AGAINST the AEUG during the Battle of Gryps 2?"
I do need to give 2 a little more time. It is kind of insane to imagine how many voice actors in for these games! seems insane for the time. And I will always say that 2 had a lot more to offer than 3 now that's I've really had them side by side.
@@PragmatikReviews The dubbing company in charge of the DWG line had a REALLY big talent pool to pull from, and it helps that they love their craft. Only one I can recall who didn't reprise their role was Domon, and that was because he changed careers by then.
@PragmatikReviews I just love the fact there were more units to choose from. I was surprised they did like 5 units from wing and like they did all OO gundams. I just hope gundambreaker 4 will be good and have tons of units
What’s interesting is that my local Round One arcade has DDR machines and they still are incredibly popular with both the younger and older crowds which really surprised me.
It's a fun experience and I'm sure way more fun than some of the arcade experiences younger audiences have nowadays. it's still good. wish Konami would realize that!
it looked like one of the less loved games in this series..but i always loved it nonetheless....i like mvc infinite too btw xD ps. ur arcade footage doesnt look perfectly emulated..watch out for the character portraits...they are behind the bars...very weird stuff indeed....
I can't help but love it despite it's flaws. And oddly enough this is all captured from the ps1 version. I don't know if it's the age of the disc or just how it is, but there were a lot of issues. The music would just cut out a lot too.
Oof, I could NEVER complete Max 300. I was a huge DDR junkie in college. My roommate in college and I would go to the arcade a few times a month and play DDR5th mix. When DDR Max came out, we bought pads and played in our dorm room. The people downstairs must've HATED us. DDR died for me when they started moving away from Euro Dance and trance and started focusing on more pop related stuff.
Yeah, I feel like super nova was a lot of that kind of music. I'd not played that, but when I was capturing it I was like "where's all the fun stuff?!"
Oh how this brings me back to arcade days and PS1 dance pad nights. I really appreciate your thoughts on this rarely discussed topic. B4U, Captain Jack .... Yes I wonder if my 40 year old self could handle Katas now?
