Absolutely genius work, really thanks for sharing!. I am facing an issue with tracking of income from the budget tracking to the budget dashboard in 2:39:42. From all types (income, expenses and savings) in the budget tracking, the calculation of tracking in budget dashboard considers only for expenses and savings and gives no value tracking for the income categories. Does any knows how to solve this?, Thanks
Great content! Thank you so much! However, I have a question for you and anyone who reads my comment! I noticed that in the 'Budget Tracking' section, if multiple income, expense, or savings were made in the same day, the balance columno does NOT correctly caclulate the amount of balance. At first, I thought I made a mistake, but I also see that it is also not correctly calculated in this tutorial video. Anyone has any idea why this happens and how to fix this issue?? Thanks in advance!
To anyone having issues on 2:38:42 , this is the formula that worked for me: =SUMPRODUCT((Tracking[Amount]) * (Tracking[Type]=type) * (YEAR(Tracking[Effective Date])=selected_year))
I most likely made a mistake and I would highly highly highly appreciate some help. In 2:38:00, when I change the filter from "Income" to "Expenses" I don't get the sum of the expenses back. Instead I get a plain - . So =Tracking[Amount]*(Tracking[Type]="Expenses") doesn't work for me. This creates issues when I want to do the tracked section in the Budget Dashboard. Any clues?
After a week of chipping away for a few hours a day and several rewinds, I am finally finished. Thank you so so much for this! I have learned a lot. Let's just hope I use it to the best of it's ability.
Hi, nice deck. Question, would it be advisable to go horizontally once, vertically once and so forth, like a staircase? Kind of thinking of using the Vertical slides as Titles and the horizontals for the information
Does anyone know how to complete the header row, min row, max and total rows. When I put in the formula. It only calculates row 10 and not 11 and 12. What am I missing here? It's at 30:29 of the video.
Looking for some help regarding this Gantt chart. The calendar scroll stops at a date without being able to continue through the calendar to the project end. Using currently through 2024 and likely on to 2025. Did I mess up along the way somewhere? Thanks in advance.
Hi, I'm considering to buy the template of your site, but there is one feature that is missing for me which is categorizing the expenses categories into 3 sections: fundamentals, fun, savings. Is there an easy way to achieve this?
Maybe an improvement for this could be a sheet with an Add Tracked Data, so that if we need to add something quick instead of going to the table we could select from a "Message Box" the type, category, amount and details to be added to the Budget tracking table
Hi every one after 1 week I managed to follow along with the video and finish the dashboard, the tutorial is very clear and straightforward. To appreciate the effort and time he put in this 6hr video I will purchase the file to extend my appreciation. Also, I ran into a problem in the transaction sheet from budget and delta #N/A (only for the month of June) if anyone has a solution kindly assist.
Hi! I am having an issue with the template... In the Budget Dashboard tab, it is not displaying any data in the ''period tracking balance'' section at the top. How can this be corrected?
1:24:20 can anyone help me in this part? I can't get the right amount at the first row. I keep getting the same 4,700 balance just like on the second row. I followed the instruction just like how it was said in the video. =SUMPRODUCT([Amount], ([Date]<=[@Date])*1) Or =SUMPRODUCT([Amount], --([Date]<=[@Date])) I'm using the Microsoft Office 2019 version. Please someone help me
how do yall input for overtime. Do you input just your base 40 hr 4 week net income per month, and then input your actual paycheck amount in the "Budget Tracking Category". So at least on planning it shows your pay before overtime, only cause overtime is never the same. But since i would input actual in my 'Tracking" on the 'Dashboard it would show my percentage as higher. Just trying to figure out how to input overtime, since its not always the same. thank for any help.
Hello Sir, It is a very innovative Power BI, but I'm facing little trouble in some parts like the in budget tracking i'm still in trouble which is time consuming, for me it is taking 1/2 day to sort out. Can I know how you have made the effective date with conditional format. Let me explain in depth At first you have written the formula IF(AND to make the d-mmm-yy. After that you have copied the AND( Selected the effective date column and opened the conditional format Created new rule> User format And Pasted the formula and changed the @type and @ date After that format text colour and -> d-mmm-yy then after that the format has changed Can you please help me out to find out the solution for me.
I can't get the "tracked" formular "=SUM(Tracking[[Amount ]]* (Tracking[Type]=type) * (YEAR(Tracking[Effective Date])=selected_year))". I not sure which one is wrong.
31:18 Hi, trying to build this, a lot for a beginner!! Whats occurring at this time, are the formulas just added then deleted ? I have followed the steps but then when compleing the check i get nothing in return. Cheers
2:38:15 whenever I multiply number number to a Boolean value(true/ false) it counts true as 1 but doesn't count false as 0. Like 30*(tracking[type]="income")- if it is true.. it follows correctly . Shoes value 30 but if false.. rather than showing 0, it shows _. This is only happening when I reference something in tracking table. Normally, I checked it is working fine... But something in the table is triggering this response. Pls can anyone help
Bitte Hilfe! I am stuck on the budget formula @ 2:54:21. I have followed every step but after I hit enter and add the updated formular to all the cells it return #N/A in every cell. I am at my witts end. Please sent help D:!
Error at 56:57. It say's "To do this, all the merged cells need to be the same size". No idea how to proceed with this so any help would be appreciated. Edit: Ok, so It has to do with an error I made when I set up the header "Budget Planning". I merged the first three rows together and I should not have. It's resolved.
Anyone have any tips on correctly ordering the Breakdown chart if you have more than nine expense categories? It's causing the combined rank (comb_rank) column to have a mix of two-, three- and four-digit numbers, which subsequently skews the combined normalized ranking.

What an amazing work and great spirit of you that you have shared the whole idea and techniques behind this amazing Gantt chart!!!! This is really very amazing, but my question is if i'm going to use this as in long duration projects or for more number of line items, my excel is slowing down and it stops sometimes!! Is that related or because of the number of formulaasss we included in the sheet or that is just my excel problem?! Can you please guide me on this??!! Else It's a wonderful work that I have learned.
Hoping someone can help here. I've been working on this code for nearly three hours, and I'm stuck. When I select "Total Year" in the period, I get a #VALUE! error. I've checked the code, and it appears to be correct. I have included it here. 2:54:00:00 =IF(OR(is_header, is_empty), "", INDEX('Budget Planning'!$E:$EM, row_id, MATCH(IF(selected_period="Total_Year", selected_year, DATE(selected_year, selected_period, 1 )),'Budget Planning'!$E$9:$EM$9, 0 ))) All the other options work ok.
Hi! So, i'm not an expert but in the sentence "MATCH(IF(selected_period="Total_Year"", i think the problem is the _ in "Total_Year". Is the only difference between your and mine
Hey, thanks for such a great in-depth tutorial. I created it as it has some of the best features I want. But it is damn slow. Is it cuz of the amount of calculations in it? It takes a 2-3 seconds once you enter text in any row... Any hacks? Is everyone facing this?
Genuinely incredible instruction. Thank you so much for sharing us. Really appreciate it.☺♥ ○○○○○○○For everyone want to do the arrow key without copy-paste, please use this code: → Atl + 26 √ Alt + 251
After working on this project for over 10 hours spanning across several days, I can finally rest easy and put it to use. Thanks for putting out such a wonderful masterpiece that's easy to understand. Your explanation right before you implement some concepts made this easy to follow. Glad I got to learn so much in the process. I appreciate the 6-hour journey and the effort it took to put this together. Looking forward to exploring more of your work. You gained a sub friend. Thank you.
Does anyone have ideas on pulling data from multiple Gantt files to create a summary dashboard? Ex. % complete, last completed milestone, current in process task, awaiting dependency on? I basically have 1 Gantt chart per project and need a dashboard with all project status'. The logic would have to pull the name of the task or milestone last completed or currently in process and spit it out into a summary table
I recommend that anyone who is self-employed add a second expenses section called “business expenses” so that it is easier, at tax time, to report your business expenses to your accountant.
Amazing work! It was really exciting for me to build it with your tutorial. I learned a lot! Do you have plans to add a function to consider credit cards? I noticed that other people have the same concern about this payment method. I believe we need to add another column to the Budget Tracking for "Payment Method". If the credit card option is selected, it will automatically postpone the payment to a certain date of the next month (Effective Date), based on the date we set as the cutover. If you have any insights on this, I'd love to hear/read about them.
Hi, thank you so much for this. I followed your exact instructions and it works a charm. If you are to do an update I would love to have a "fixed" or "variable" expenses track and maybe an added sheet to manage savings and investments. One adjustment that I had to do was on the Budget Dashboad tab, because I have more than 9 expenses categories, the comb_rank was reading the whole value, for instance if I had an expense #3 on the tracked_rank and #11 on the budget_rank than the comb_rank would be 311 and the expense would be very low on the list, when it should be 3rd. My adaptation was the following: comb_rank =IF(is_cat, tracked_rank+budget_rank/1000,"") Thank you again for this amazing tutorial! :)
“Ahhh-mazing”! It took me approximately 10 hrs to complete, but the instructions were very clear and simple. I would recommend creating a custom theme and custom color palette to match the hexadecimal color codes in the description (Text/Background - Dark 1 = Standard “Dark Blue”, Text/Background - Dark 2 = “#F0E936”, etc. accordingly down to “Accent 6”). Thank you for this great tutorial and template!!!
Thank you very much for this video! I will use the Budget Planner in the future. I still have an idea of what could be added to the “Budget Tracking” worksheet: For example, if you have several insurances, you always have to write in the insurance in the details to keep track of it in a few years. You could also add a drop-down list in which you can select frequently recurring entries (e.g. PayPal, Amazon...). Further additions could then be made in a Details 2 field.
Thanks! It helps me a lot in improving my excel skills. I believe that this template and skills will be benefit me for the time. It took me almost one week to complete this. Awesome.
I purchased the download version and none of the dropdown menus are working on the budget tracking page. So I am going through the video to see if I can figure out why, and I am learning a lot of things about excel that I never knew 🙂. Also the error messages don't show up on the date. Basically nothing on the budget tracking page is working, but I am trying to learn how to fix it with the video!
