I got an internship a year ago thanks to a dashboard that I created following this video! Thanks random internet stranger, you are doing a lot of good.
Haha that's funny I came across this comment. I'm in my second week of my internship and I'm here because I need to create an Excel sheet and I want to make it look really nice!
@@theofficelab Hey when applying the background my image is tiling, could you pls share the image that you have used? or let me know if the image needs to be a particular size?
Raise your hand if the hardest part of the dashboard was finding the right background :) Thankyou for this Office Lab, it was so well explained and slicers blew my mind!
I have always been using those functionalities but I have never thought it could look that good with that little effort. I will definetely upgrade my dashboards! Thanks a lot for the inspiration!
Created a similar dashboard for weekly and monthly performance for a department meeting, can say managers were impressed. Thank you and amazing guides.
You people really have to admire this guy's work. Imagine! He's using Excel for Mac and came with such a cool looking design! Side note: Office for Mac is horribly bad, whenever I need office work done, I instantly switch to Windows (Bootcamp) since I can't really stand it
Great Tutorial, thank you for this nice design! One thing to your "horizontal" line: Just press the shift button while drawing the line and it will be perfectly horizontal (or vertical or 45~, as you wish) ;-)
I've spent a long time wondering how to switch between data quickly in charts (all self taught on excel). The thing I've been looking for for so long is that slicer option!! thank you
What a smooth tutorial. First I look to the duration and "Man 30 minutes! Should be lot of works". Since I really have no idea at all to create a dashboard I decide to try to watch every single minute of this video and surprisingly I really enjoy it! You explain it calmly yet I can feel your excitement and passion! I feel it, man. That 30 minutes are worth every second of it. Good job!
Thanks, man :) It's awesome to hear that you enjoyed it and that you took the time to give me that overwhelmingly positive feedback. I am currently working on an even more advanced Excel Dashboard and will release a tutorial on that in the near future. I hope you gonna enjoy that just as much. Have a great day!
I just entered marketing industry and cant believe that this is not common practice! Thank you so much for helping me to say goodbye to ugly grey reports!
Nice video! Re. drawing horizontal lines - hold Shift and draw the line - it should be perfectly horizontal. The end result looks great but I would lose the pie chart in any of its iterations - it's just chart junk, takes up far too much screen real estate and with two or three more items to display becomes very difficult for a user to gauge the relative size of the individual portions. Hope you don't think I'm being too negative - it really is a very good example of how to easily put together an interactive display.
Tip: When creating the map chart, as you say you can't create the chart from the Pivot and therefore need to Copy Paste Values and create the Map chart, However once created you can edit the data source references by going to Chart Design>Select Data and pointing the references back to the original Pivot Table. Once done you can then delete the pasted values to clear clutter from your feeder worksheets. The other thing I would recommend is to ensure you label all of your Pivot Tables with sensible names, making the solution easier to maintain in the future.
I guess im asking the wrong place but does anyone know of a method to log back into an Instagram account?? I was stupid forgot the password. I would appreciate any help you can offer me!
@Nicholas Gerardo Thanks for your reply. I found the site through google and im waiting for the hacking stuff atm. Takes quite some time so I will reply here later with my results.
Lost for words.... Just like Columbo, you show the killer within the first few moments of the video, however with this Video I watched it in its entirety, simply wonderful, so beautiful explained, and the final finish is not only technically proficient, but well explained. Most certainly Subscribed, you will certainly hear from me in the future. Thank you so very much :)
best excel dashboard i have seen. I would look forward for more power automate and power query excel projects and if possible powerBI dashboard projects as well

I just got a new position at work and wasnt sure how to format the data for presentations. I think this is beautiful and Ill be giving it a try. Thank you for sharing.
30-years ago when computers were young, I remember having a discussion with a buddy and asked him, if you could only use 1 piece of software which would you use? He replied instantly saying, "A spreadsheet"... he was right and ahead of the times.
Unreal stuff! You have opened my eyes to a whole other world. I tried adding a background but it just ends up being way too big. Even if I zoom in or out it stays the same which is quite weird. Can you help out with that? Thanks!
Thanks for the great feedback :) Concerning your background issue, I faced the exact same issue with zooming and wasn't able to resolve that yet. However, in order to change the size of your background image you can adjust the size of the image before adding it into your excel file.
Sorry, I don't have the adjusted image file that I finally used on my computer anymore (only saved it temporarily). I recommend to just try out different image sizes to figure out what fits best for your purpose.
Everything is so perfect! Can you please make video on advanced slicers. Most importantly: how we can adjust that widget’s color transparency to slicers? There is not option in slicer where we can adjust transparency %.
Completely loved this concept and Incorporated a version of my own for tracking my workout progress, thank you so much for uploading this! Is it possible to use a table diagram in the dasboard too? I'm trying to make one box in my dashboard represent Starting Point: [Value] Present: [Value] % Increase: [Value] As of right now, it is being placed in the cells underneath the background picture. :')
As I'm watching this video I'm thinking, "damn! this guy is moving fast! I have a lot of work to do if I want to get like this." Then I realized that my playback speed was at 1.5x from previous videos. Phew!
Fabulous work .. totally loved the design. Its so appealing to the eyes ! And I added couple of things more to this 1) Just the state/province map along with country which zooms relevant state when chosen (2) Names of top 5 States so the user don't need to hover on map to find top 5.
@@theofficelab I also tried to use image in background instead of inserting so that I can overlay max values of Revenues on each map from pivot sheets. But this caused me a problem - It increased the size of excel file a lot. So i tried to limit the size of each sheet by setting scrolling property but even that didn't help. Any suggestions how can I make cells values display on top of image and also not increase file size ?

Hello Alex, Thanks very much for such informative video, I have learnt a lot... Just one thing borthering me is that how could change the BACKGROUND color of slicer to BLACK ?? please help me
@@amaadmahfooz8069 Format the Data Series by right clicking on the map. Then under the 'Series Options' you can change the 'Map Area' to 'Only regions with data'. That should fix it.
You should have shown how to make the primary data source into a table, so you can dynamically update the pivot ranges as new data comes in our old data ages out..
