I live here in Anacortes and it’s getting out of control with everyone moving here it’s basically lost that small town feel and charm, I wish it was like it was 40 years ago it was much better then . People need to stop moving here
I lived in Redmond for 3 years while my parents worked at Microsoft. It's a great place for biking, hikes, picking blackberries, and shopping. I think the quality of the schools there could improve and the teachers can use to do more about the bullying at the schools there. I did track at Redmond High in 10th grade. I used to boulder at a gym in Redmond called Vertical World, which, sadly, is no longer there. The other downside is that it rains in Seattle more than it's sunny. It rained in the summer of 2010 during Seafair and that made the airshow not as much fun as if it had been sunny.
Small town with big crime. Nasty cops and all the meth heads you could ever want. If you move here, make sure you have a carry permit and a couple of spare magazines.
If you were born and raised in Puyallup 50 years ago you would know what a real small town was like. Downtown was great and the fair was the "Puyallup" Fair. It was safe, everyone knew every family, the berry fields were all over where kids learned to work and one high school. When they cut 167 through the valley then everything changed. South Hill, which these two don't mentioned, turned into a mass of congestion and crime. South Hill was basically hillbilly hill with turkey and chicken farms and wonderful landscape. The valley is nothing but congestion and warehouses. This lady's store was the center of retail - it was the JC Penny Store. I know things do not stay the same but this was forced by the politicians to unilaterally punch the freeway through the center of the valley and a lot was lost. Where are the daffodil fields? Where are the strawberry, blueberry fields, where are the bulb fields, where are the rhubarb fields. All under concrete. The daffodils for the parade have to now be trucked in from other parts of the state. Just remember, the Puyallup Valley once had the best soil for plants, flowers, etc. outside of Belgium. Belgium still have theirs but Puyallup has discarded theirs for concrete, warehouses and sprawl. Congratulations.
Met a Caucasian lady who dined @ my ramen shop in Elk Grove , CA and she was driving to Los Angeles . She said very few good Asian restaurants in her town so she would map out asian spots to eat on the way to her destination. Gets busy during tourist season and food is mostly steak and egg in Anacortes.
well. that'd be awkward to wake up in the hospital after having surgery only to find out the blood given to you by the hospital was responsible for turning you into a vampire. TBH, I wouldn't say shit to the staff, and just go through whatever treatments they have planned until I'd get discharged.
I've lived in Seattle and Everett for 20+ years but I've been to Kirkland a few times. I LOVE Kirkland. I took two photos of the lake (Lake Washington) from the Kirkland shore in 2020 which I enlarged and put on canvas and are now hanging in my San Antonio, TX home. I left my soul in the Pacific NW. There is no place like Seattle, Bellevue, Mukilteo, Edmonds and Kirkland. If you're young, move there! You will not regret it.
yeah. People that worked hard for their money and keep their community clean and safe. Go live in Detroit. Plenty of wonderful diversity there for you to virtue signal about.
Pft, the owners of Taco Time would not hire anyone who wasn't a Christian. They even at one point would not have Taco Time open on Sundays. Thankfully they at least changed the last thing.
This just shows the pretty nice part. I grew up there it's not diverse at all and unfortunately the only thing thats really changed there is the cost of living.

("snobbish, haughty, condescending, disdainful, patronizing, snobby, conceited, proud, arrogant, supercilious, superior, imperious, above oneself, self-important, overweening, lordly, lofty..." all full of Chi-Chi boutiques and "cute little shops") Or as we like to call it, over here in the unincorporated part of town where all the working class people live: "Lake lost ego", "Fake lost ego", and the HISTORICALLY TRUE epithet: "LAKE NO NEGROES" given that LO had CITY ORDINANCES specifically prohibiting PEOPLE OF COLOR from taking up residence, or even being caught within in city limits after dark, on penalty of incarceration! Even as late as the early 1980s I would be stopped by Police "Officers" on my way to work (I look like and I am a Native American) and told, when I asked about it: "we don't see YOUR kind of people around here very much". And, oh, the "lake" used to be a large pond/swamp that Chinese iron foundry workers enlarged, with much back breaking, hand labor for water power for the iron works. As soon as rich people saw how beautiful the Lake was, and it's potential real estate value, they kicked the Chinese OUT to Oregon City. THOSE are the kind of people that live in this neck of the woods. LONGVIEW IS A NICE PLACE BUT HAS A VERY CROOKED POLICE DEPARTMENT THAT WILLING TO CREATE FELONIES AGAINST IT'S CITIZEN. THEY ALL NEED JAILED. PATHETIC BUNCH.

Yeah I live in this town as well since 1994. I’ve unfortunately lived here and came back a few times in my life. Not proud of that at all. Mostly because of my parents living here, I wanted to be close to them. But they have since moved to Florida and love that state much more than Washington state has to offer, much more than Longview has to offer and they live in a smaller town than Longview. But this town is for the industrial minded kind of people. This town is for the people that don’t want to see much change in their community for the better. This town has been drowning in financial problems since the 80’s maybe even earlier. The boom town it once was with LongBell is gone. Wal Mart took out a lot of small businesses. Reynolds screwed over tons of workers as well. This town has taken hit after hit economically. Businesses come and then they leave or they don’t make much money. Very few quality restaurants in this town. Yeah the beach is an hour or so away but the traffic getting there is starting to get pretty full almost every summer. Back in the 90’s I’d say it wasn’t half bad of a town to live in. But as the years go by, it’s literally a product of its past. It can’t even escape it. The “planned” city that RA Long started definitely was wasted here. The space was wasted, the lack of a back up business for this town to make money was either dismissed or ignored. You can still find boarded up buildings at times. Nothing stays for very long here. The School district struggles, there’s a good old boy system going on here where the higher ups are creating favoritism among staff and the union. It’s a mess of a town. The town struggles with drug addiction and with as many “programs” as this town claims to have there’s certainly no program to help clean out the homeless junkies all over the place. The town smells bad much of the year from the industrial facilities. I wanna leave and I’m hoping to do so in the next year or so. I won’t be back.
That f#cking second guy..."we have apartments that are still affordable". THAT is why the US sucks...greedy bastards grouping together to jack up rent prices to the absolute maximum. And because they are not taxed properly they can only increase their stranglehold on the working class.
